Plus it seems Taipei was made primarily to drive the Volcas, with AU apps being a happy byproduct. Which, if I recall, was FREE.

Totally, it’s a tool that many users needed! It’s a good thing that they keep making this app better.

Don’t get me wrong, there are so many things lacking in Gadget like one single band of fully parametric eq (but it will sure force you to choose sounds that work together or have a muddy sounding mix). I sure would love to open blackhole reverb or pro q 3, or a decent limiter inside gadget but even without those things, gadget is an amazingly stable set of tools.

Edit: also a better sampler like samu says, ala simpler. Or at least add attack ctrl to Bilbao!

The question is not whether Korg makes their Gadgets available to other iOS app users (BM3/CUB/etc) ... what we KG users have requested is the support to load other apps inside KG. And the answer to that was Taipei.

Certainly it’s strange that Korg hasn’t already turned all Gadgets AUv3 to work in other apps.

Loading auv3 in Gadget could destroy its stability IMHO and that’s another story. But in any case, it’s a lot of work! Pro Tools is like the last to get everything other DAW’s have and it’s industry standard. It was the last DAW by far to get 64 bit support. It still doesn’t have delay compensation for sidechain and it’s the industry standard DAW. Do you know how many users have been asking for that for well over 10 years! They decided to put efforts into broken useless cloud collaboration.

I’m not saying it’s easy, but Korg DEVs are top notch. It’s their shot-callers who won’t allow it.
Trust: if BM and CUBASE have done it on iOS, so could Korg.
I do agree, it’s not the most stable in BM3 or CUB, but it’s been done. So has Audio editing, and Korg hasn’t pulled the trigger on that yet either. It’s not DEV’s fault.

Maybe I’m just used to this type of abuse but it is what it is.

I have to restart Cubasis a lot, man. Cubasis is a full daw, created to be a daw, born from another daw. Gadget is gadget.

  • I already own iMS-20.

I see the Gadget for it showing up as Memphis on my iPhone.

But, as I recall, iMS-20 only runs on iPad. So how does Memphis work on iPhone?

Most likely by doing the same remote-install procedure as with iM1 to get the Darwin Gadget?

It's not a matter of changing anything in the audio processing part to make an app iPhone compatible. The only effort is in the GUI design. They did the work to adapt the GUI to Gadget, and Gadget runs on iPhone, so it works. If they did the additional work to adapt the iMS-20 GUI standalone app to work on iPhone then it would work. They have just chosen not to.

Hmm, so I guess Memphis_ will _work on my iPhone if I do the remote install?

Will I need to run my iPad at the same time or can I use Memphis on my iPhone by itself?

I guess I'll find out when I get home tonight either way.

  • The remote install thing drives me batshit. Can’t it just download everything it needs from their servers? Check to make sure I bought iMS-20 and iPolySix and iM1 and just download the guts needed in Gadget.

Don’t have an iPad anymore so this is pretty fucking annoying.

    Yep!

Nope, you won't need to run it on the iPad after the remote install.

After the remote-install is done you can use without the iPad...

Sweet! This inspires me to resume my MS-20 Mini explorations. Yes, I have seen the MS-20 tricks thread here.

    Thanks!

I don’t recall having to do a remote install procedure for Memphis and Pompei.
I did back when Darwin was released. Maybe they changed it where remote install is no longer required?

  • It has always been necessary.

  • @R_2 I think it’s still there... I’m on LTE right now so I gotta check when I get home. That would be great but I know last time I looked (previous update) still needed the iPad to do remote install. Such a bummer and seems unnecessary since I’ve only a desire to use the gadget versions, not stand-alone ever.

  • Back when I installed Darwin on iPhone I was giving me all these instructions I had to follow (being on the same network as iPad, etc). I don’t remember anything like that with Memphis and Pompei.

@icsleepers Yeah, check what happens if you ‘restore’ from the gadgets list.

Well... I don't know if I'd say that...maybe they just haven't had a full nights sleep to realize it all.
A few dreams have been realized in the past few updates:
. Importing of a users own samples into Abu Dhabi and Bilbao
. Integration of Electribe Wave into Gadget
. Midi Out support for Gadget to control all your gear (hardware and software)
. Fantastic Drum machine tool to lay down stylized beats from different genre types

I think they are dreaming a beautiful reality into existence. I say let them sleep, for when they awake, we are inspired :)

Doh,i found it.As often...user error. The option pops up in the polysix user presets as soon as you tap on a saved sound.Transfer is therefore one by one.One and a half hour wasted for nothing....ok,not entirely. At least all my presets are there now.

Another thing though,i'm not able to import/open any of my saved gadget sounds from gadget one.More user error?

  • . Importing of a users own samples into Abu Dhabi and Bilbao

This has been around since the release of AD and B, like 2015

  • I do agree with @echoopera here
Korg is doing a pretty darn good job at making gadget their environment.
And imo just because they made this to use on iOS, doesn't mean they need to imitate and conform to what others are doing on iOS in every way.
They have created a very stable, useable, productive environment inside the iOS ecosystem, which isn't always known for having apps that are stable or do even 50% of what the end user wants, and made it work very well.
How many apps do you own, that as soon as you get you realize it's missing many features you want, even the ones with midi support, that are auv3, that do a lot... But still there is always a huge list of request features for.... What makes anyone think korg and gadget would be any different.... Even if they followed along with " the way iOS is going " there would still be a list of features missing, things people want it to do, complaints....
For me, with gadget, I take it as it is...one step at a time as they keep building it, because to date, gadget and groovebox are the most productive apps on iOS for many many people. Little confusion, lots of stable results, in their own gadget world that we are fortunate enough to have the ability to host on iOS in tiny devices that fit in our pockets and laptop bags
