Nice to have the Wazzap Gadget or whatever it is, but the Osc waveform controls - Position and EG Int seem to be grayed out on mine. Anyone else? Two of the banks of waves seem to be locked as well...

Anyone else? Even after a reboot these two buttons are greyed out, and even assigning modulation doesn't have an effect. In the standalone these two knobs can be tweaked to scan the waveform.

For me they are only 'greyed out' when using the PCM waveforms.
For the WaveTables they work as expected.

Yepp, so I think it's actually a 'bug fix' and by design since the 'Position Knob' never had any real effect on PCM playback even though it could have been used adjust the sample-start which would have been handy if user-samples were supported :)

Just noticed some new demo songs:

Some of them using Gadgets like Lexington, Lisbon etc.

Except #17 gives an error when trying to load it.

I got a duplicate of the #17 track, without the “quotes” in the name which worked fine. Just delete the one that doesn’t work, I think it confused the file system with invalid characters in the name.

How do you delete a demo song? Doesn’t seem possible, but maybe I’m missing something 😉

I think that is because you have a PCM sample selected and not a Wavetable ? The locked banks are IAP's in KEW, they are enabled for me.

It does though - when I use it in the standalone it changes the sound of the PCM quite dramatically - and you can modulate it too.

Yeah looks like I haven't bought those. It should still work on the PCM samples though, like it does in the standalone. @ioue ?

  • Props to Korg for this great update. I love KEW and having its sounds in Gadget is great. Being able to go from iPad to phone without a glitch is marvellous too. I’ve picked up a couple of Gadgets just as a thank you. It’s exciting to see what they do next.

  • Maybe they could also add a Monotron Delay Gadget!

The PCM osc position can’t be modulated. Both in Gadget and standalone. Perhaps you’re hearing it modulate something else (filter, pitch, etc)?

This would be great, best box to use if you want the neighbors to move out or need to be evicted. Just crank up the feedback!!

Or support AU FX... I know, dreaming. But still. Had a fun play with KEW Gadget last night

Wavetable synthesis turned 40 this year. Happy anniversary Wolfgang Palm! Still pushing the envelope 🙂

It’s been used all over the place in many classic songs across all genres.

Not sure why the Beatport top 100 has any connection to a nice Gadget update?

    I’ve been challenged

Ah I think I know what happened, KEW and KVR are easily confused.

Good luck with the pistols at dawn 🤣

    OMG!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

No, you're right my mistake, I've got the PCM's and wavetables mixed up. Just tried a wavetable in Gadget and it worked.

Dear Korg, I appreciate you. Thank you for Gadget, I buy everything except the video game nonsense but make as many of those as you want!

    +1 to both

Warszawa is a useful surprise, the others seem to be good fun for a few minutes, but overpriced for what content they actually present.

it depent's on your music style.. there are genres which are build on such types of sounds, i can imagine for them those new gadgets may be reason to buy whole gadget ;)

Couldn˚t agree more.. was about to write the same thing. Its nowadays quite easy to find retro sound samples with more variety than those provided here.

Yes, of course, although I don't need that kind of sounds for my music, I find them interesting and somewhat reminiscent of the "good old times". It's more the feeling -based on the videos I've seen- that after one or two hours of trying and fiddling around you might have heard all samples and the appeal factor fades quickly...

Yup. I love Gadget, and I won't criticize Korg for these new Gadgets - they just might not have enough "substance" for the price tag.

  • Actually I have them on pc. Paid 150 for all gadgets. I think thats a good value as it includes even latest ones with vsti to be used in any daw. I´ve spent much more on ipad on those gadgets.. but I´m appaholic anyways..Total was 4000 euros spend on ipad audio related iaps and apps, and that was year ago.. dont even want to calculate latest.

sorry, guess we can’t — I wrongly assumed it was the same for all the other songs (swipe to left) .. Hopefully the next Gadget update will take care of it. I ended up crashing Gadget again trying to delete it :P

So the KEW gadget has no drum patterns period?

    Correct. Just the synth.
Really doesn't matter, since most of the drums in KEW sound like they came from Gadget anyway.

I don’t understand. What kind of a template do you need?

  • @Tones4Christ I'm not sure if I had posted a Gadget template Xequence project... I do have a pair of Xequence 2 / NS2 projects which work together well as a template, that's here:

    Yikes..that’s nearly 4,500 U.S. ?! — I didn’t even realize it could get that high. Kinda makes me shudder a little inside ;) ..

I keep a database of all my apps (sans iAP) with the full price listed for each, but until now avoided checking the total for everything out of dread ;)

Drumroll..... $3689 U.S. (ouch). I imagined mine would tally closer to the 2k - 2.5 mark, not counting for sale savings. thank god for Black Friday and flash sales though, my silver lining here. Thanks for the reality check. ;P

I don't even want to make such a list even though I have all the receipts saved...
(It would just shock me since I could probably have gotten a maxed out iPad Pro or two by now).

  • Ha! you beat me to it. :)

You have to restart Gadget after enabling background audio.
Also make sure that in Gadget, Midi Input is set to Advanced and the bottom left button on each mixer channel is set to receive on the correct MIDI channel like configured in Xequence 2.

  • Wait...so if they made the gadgets available as VST’s on pc, why not make them available as AUv3 on iOS?

Costs money and time to port them. Don’t worry though, it will eventually happen.
