    Exactly.

The new bass synth is a big improvement! Can we get a bass tone without so much "rasp" in some future version?

I think adjustable bass synth would be awesome. Just a little dial to take the rasp up and down. Because right now it definitely sounds a bit crackley.

  • New options for stuff coming out tomorrow (pending apple approval!) + a raft of new things (still no landscape, but it's coming!)

  • @elf_audio is on fire :)

Destructive Trim and Input Selection are two of my feature-requests that I do hope make it at some point.
Being able to set the default Sample-Rate and Bit-Depth would also be a welcome addition.

But man, I'm having fun with this app!

  • @Samu Ah amazing, glad you're enjoying it!! Yeah defo needs input selection/sample-rate stuff. Bit-depth is 32-bit floating point, would you like it to go higher or lower?

  • Loving the app and the updates. A simple ADSR/fade in/fade out option would be most useful to me to get rid of clicks, and add a bit of a tail to the sounds.

  • @elf_audio
    Amazing work you are doing.
Seriously one of the funnest, creative apps I have ever used.

    Yep

  • Amazing app and a great looking update!

  • Will the new update include choke groups :p ? The hold record option opens up some new performance effects resampling options! Looks great.

The export is currently 16-bit so for those quieter sounds 24-bits would be a nice option since the 'source' is already 32-bit floats.

If/when you add a normalise function it would be nice to have an option to automatically normalise after recording?
(For a 'non-destructive normalise' increase the gain-range all the way to extreme saturation, analyse the recording and set the gain-knob automagically to reflect the 'normalised' volume)

For my use-case the input selection would be 1,2,3,4 or 1&2 , 3&4.
Current use case when using the Steinberg UR-242...

    • Input 1 Mic
    • Input 2 Volca Bass
    • Inputs 3&4 (stereo) from another source, mostly my TV for on-the-fly sampling of what's on the screen.

I use this interface with both the iPad Air 2 and iPhone 8 depending on the mood.
(Most of the time, iPhone 8 hooked to the interface when watching TV for 'live sampling' to play with the voices of the annoying people on the screen).

Also as some have requested being able to move samples between banks A,B,C,D would be nice.
(Ie. drag a sample to the A,B,C,D tab and the app switches the bank and the user can drop the sample on the pad they choose).

Being able to Reverse Play the sample on command could be nice.
Might be tricky to do but Left side if the pad for Reverse Play and Right Side of the pad Normal Play and Y-Axis controls 'volume'?(Ie between 0 and the set gain).

Another neat effect would be 'scrub the pad' for scratch type effects.

Anyways, It's your app so do to it what ever feels 'right' ;)

  • @elf_audio It would be quite nice if the volume meter were to factor in FX while auditioning pads, so that we could adjust levels prior to resampling. As it is, you have to keep trying again and again to avoid clipping.

  • @Samu @aaronpc both good suggestions, both logged thanks for the feedback!

And SCRATCH mode omg that would be genius

  • @elf_audio wow- fantastic work!

  • You re halfway there with the pitch effect, aren’t you ? I managed to get quite realistic scratch playing with the rate parameter on my Octatrack!
Will the update include multiple sample import from Audioshare (so that i can prelaod my drumkits at once )?
Cheers, you re on fire mate !!!!

  • @jazzmess multi sample import was actually on the list, but I couldn’t work out how to do it - I emailed the AudioShare developer but haven’t heard anything back as of yet.

What’s interesting though, is you can do multi sample export OUT of koala if you send the zipped up folder of samples to AudioShare. Totally by accident, but now it’s a feature!

Maybe that could work the other way around too?
Since it's quite easy to zip folder in AudioShare sending the *.zip file to Koala could do the trick?
The samples could be imported starting with the first free pad or something?!.

Have not checked yet if Koala supports split-screen on the iPad but if it does a 'drag-n-drop' from FIles.app could also come in handy?

For me personally though, I enjoy sampling new sounds a lot more...

  • @elf_audio

I wrote this a few pages back. Maybe it helps?

Found a cool quirk, good for quickly importing a group of samples.

If you have Koala open, then open the files app in slide over mode, you can touch the sample files and they load up on the next available pad.

The folder containing the samples has to be in the main Koala folder in the Files App, in the ‘On my iPad’ area for it to work. You can easily share a folder of samples to Koala using the usual Share workflow.

I have been messing with those free AudioKit toy keyboard samples by loading them up quickly using this method.

The reason I suggest opening Files in slide over mode on top of Koala is to avoid switching back and forth between apps after every sample load. In slide over, the 2 apps don’t switch, so you can do one sample right after the other.

This works well on Ipad, but doesnt on iphone. And getting the AS sample preview is sweat ! Keep up the good work!!!!!

  • @elf_audio nice one shot mode Thanks thanks thanks I look forward to the next update

  • @Samu @elf_audio yes to setting project sample and bit rates. Lower for me. 12bit 11khz/22khz would be excellent only other groovebox sampler I seen does this is Beatmachine but its not been updated in years.

  • @elf_audio no rush at all but choke groups will be good to have when using one shot mode.
I see ADSR Envelopes , Pad mute/Solo on the horizon
I sort of think the sample editor is ok as it takes me back to really using my ears. Saying that though a zoom waveform with number values for start/end points would help as I often do the trick of HaaS Stereoize delaying a copy of a samples nudging start point by usually a few milliseconds then panning both samples one left&one right. It really opens up the sound of loops. Once I get the right “number values” I tend to use them often. I suggested this to JimPavloff Grooverider Gr16 dev he managed to actually implement a simple shift delay Left/ Right hint hint :-)
Cheers for the pitch snap that will help a lot.
Question - does the Export All Loops mean Export all “Patterns” if yes it might be clearer to label . Whichever way though does this mean the Export All Loops will combine each Loop or “Pattern into a combined song or each Loop/ “Pattern is exported seperately?

  • edited March 2019

@elf_audio no rush demand or expectation just some ideas that you could add as an in app purchase in the future. Here is the delay left/right in grooverider the “minus symbol represents Left and if use the scroll dial toward the Right the symbol turns to “plus.
Basically it splits a mono sample into stereo/stereoize.

  • @stormbeats thanks for all that, lots to chew on. Stereoizer would be a pretty easy effect, will look into that. Also understood about the samplerate options (and also realized that yes, it only exports 16 bit).

EXPORT ALL LOOPS exports all patterns (in separate files) - yes, it is named wrongly - good spot, need to reconcile all the names, but that's what went in the update.

  • @elf_audio Excellent progress being made. Pace yourself! :)

@elf_audio @JohnnyGoodyear true words Johnny - dont stress too much elf. Just some future ideas to get you some xtra cashflow. Maybe a Kaola Pro. I will for sure support your apps.

  • @elf_audio no rush for 24bit as for now can record into Audioshare etc etc at 24bit but if its easy to implement it would be welcoming :-)

  • @elf_audio

I know Samu mentioned it above, but did you see my little guy’s feature request video?

He’d love to be able to drag and drop onto a new bank. He turned 4 this weekend. :)

“Also as some have requested being able to move samples between banks A,B,C,D would be nice.
