@elf_audio you have a real gift for intuitive UX. Obviously a lot of people have already commented on how fluid and easy the app is, but I love how you rethought "Trim" as an "Edit" button. And having one shot and reverse in there is just perfect. Anyway, thanks for sharing your talents with us.
@elf_audio What about extending the range of the pitch knob?
The keyboard already has a lot wider range so it feels like a no-brainer to extend the pitch knob to cover +/- 36 or something like that instead if being limited to +/- 12? (Think of turning shortish samples into massive 'booms', 'drones' and things like that).
Yes. Those of us at the back would really benefit from undo...
i haven’t had been keeping up. does this have audiobus or aum support. so that you can record audio in from other apps?
I do love a reverse mode, thank you.
@elf_audio Thanks for the great update! I’ve been getting some erratic timing from the metronome - seems to happen at around 80bpm on 4bar loops-usually on the 4th bar. Anyone else seeing this? Tried a new file, rebooting and still happening.
Oh also noticing when importing audio from audioshare the file preview (while in audioshare) sporadically doesn’t work-pressing play and nothing happens. Not sure if this would be a question for @j_liljedahl ?
No, neither.
You can record anything with an audio device.
Headphone to device in on same iPad works.
You can sample the speaker output with the mic.
And you can record using another app and import.
@elf_audio latest update Gate Performance effect not working Anyone else?
Yeah, same for me.
If one shot is on for a sample, Gate seems to not work at all.
With the old style sample playback, I get a little bit of Gate near the top 1/4 of the fader.
@CracklePot @elf_audio The bitcrush is turning my stereo samples to mono Can you confirm? This affects resampling. Please fix if possible
Same here, exactly as stated above.
Yup. Bitcrush turns my stereo samples to mono as well.
Is anyone getting sample pitch changes when trying to record Koala into other apps . I tried AUM/ Audiobus/ AudioShare & Bm3
@elf_audio i forsee plus/minus symbols in the sample edit window to zoom the waveform.
Also an Erase button - hold erase and pad together at points within a pattern to delete a note while Pattern is in Play or Record Mode
An option to play from anywhere within a sequence . Helpful if building long sequences/patterns.
An Undo button needed
Save performance FX in a Saved Project
1bar Record Count In
Saying that though the new update is brilliant
I've not checked the named hosts but Koala seems to run at 48K internally so it might be a good idea to set the recording apps to the same sample-rate?!
@Samu as us Londoners say “your a diamond geeza” thanks dude Will try that
@Samu nice one Works perfectly now :-)
Wouldn't it be better for Koala to work with whatever it is recording into without having to change sampling rates? Might that be a good feature request?
I agree
Yeah, samplerate issue is high on the list, will get onto it v soon
@elf_audio this may be a strange request, but when playing the pads in the regular, not keyboard mode, if you keep playing and recording over a loop the new hits choke off the old ones where the two coincide and this is very nice and fun and great for quickly experimenting with different grooves. However, in the keyboard mode, this doesn’t happen because you have polyphony going on. Would it be at all possible to have an optional “mono/one voice at a time” switch for the keyboard mode so that this behavior can be enjoyed in the context of jamming out melodies?

@elf_audio pad solo/mutes would be good for resampling purposes.
Really looking forward to any orientation that lets me charge when I play, scrubbing around in a sample while recording output and pad solo/mutes. Immensely fun app with so much potential!
I didn't get it at first. It looked fine, but I have Samplist, which is OK, and TriqTraq and Werkbench, which are idiosyncratic and awesome. And has everybody completely forgotten Samplebot? Why, I wondered, would I need this? So I bought it and thought, OK.
And then there were 8 pages in the thread. And 15. And now 17 pages. So obviously I was wrong. And I see you guys have completely Grooveridered this poor dev! And now the app looks incredible. Ableton set export? Wowee. Looking forward to hearing about easy workflow, getting in samples, etc.
Congratulations, @elf_audio
“Hah amazing! Beautifully illustrated, tell your son, elf says its slated for next release, and he loves those beats!”
(Last week the little guy submitted his first software feature request. Today Elf, the designer of Koala, a new sampling app for iOS, wrote back.)
Thanks @elf_audio !!! Best wishes
This is big fun! I was with a friend in the car and we searched for stuff that could make some noises to imitate a drumset and some instruments Hooked it up to my car radio and had a lot of fun. Thanks @elf_audio for making and developing it further!!!
Bitcrush turns stereo samples to mono.
Bass Synth only plays the same tune ( was much better before)
@elf_audio would it be possible to have the bitcrusher effect in MIC FX too?
@ExAsperis99 I am gulity of these actions - Grooveridering :-)
