    Hi All!

Looking into upside-down portrait mode - Landscape mode is on the list but a bit tricky, as it means redoing some layout stuff, but I will get onto it soon seeming as it sounds pretty essential to a lot of people.

In other news, just made a short resampling tutorial: enjoy!

@elf_audio cheers regarding the upsidedown portrait and video . That and one shot pad trigger and can really get going with projects. App for me does not need much more at this stage - excellent app.

  • @elf_audio still getting issue now and then when SAVE (overwrite) comes up as SAVE AS. No rush for fix but letting you know.

  • @elf_audio can we get a Record Count in option. No rush

All working well for me. I don’t really care about landscape. My setup/stand is either/or. I mostly use mine handheld though, so I kinda wish more sound apps offered a portrait oriented option. No issue with a portrait/landscape choice, but often I actually prefer portrait

    Weirdo!
    ;)

Do you use an iPhone primarily?
Portrait mode on iPad feels so awkward for some reason. Maybe I am just too used to it.

Yeah, I know... but when I'm screwing around on the iPad... I'm usually holding like a book. Some stuff landscape. I actually wish apeMatrix supported portrait orientation too.

And no... I don't really use the iPhone for iOS stuff at all (with the exception of iphone-centric apps like Koala, RE-1, and LoopField, etc. when I'm out and about)... for audio, I only use it to report iPhone SE functionality and layout for beta stuff.

I have not issue with there being a choice and I realize most here prefer landscape.

    Thanks for that!

  • @elf_audio Such great progress here - it really seems like Koala might reveal itself to be The SP-esque beatbox that no one saw coming. Beautiful minimalism and a real iOS gem already.

  • @hei great to hear! Sorry for the trouble!

  • @elf_audio new update says “japanese update app store description” ? Are there any new fucnctions for the app? I dont want to update otherwise as the app is stable unless new features :-)

@elf_audio are pad mutes/solos & pad choke groups in the pipeline?
EDIT : thinking the pad mutes/solos for exporting chosen pads audio as in the Export Loop function till or if we get Multi Stem Export (i hope)

Landscape mode would be great! And that is even an understatement. It would be SUPER :)
Especially if you know that your direct competitor TriqTraq only works in Portrait although there were numerous calls for Landscape mode of that app.

  • @elf_audio just had a chance to try out the new Bluetooth functionality. Used a Bluetooth speaker. Slight expected lag but I found it easy to adjust to and very useable. Thanks for adding it. :)

    V. grateful for the blue-tooth; my phone jacks jacked and I am using it (the phone) a lot with Koala....

@elf_audio hi have a look at the first sequence. After merging with another pattern the notes are out of the rectangle? The audio hence cuts out here and there randomly when cycling. Latest version. Will test further. But take a look into this please. Thanks. Also when routing into AUM BM3 and AudioShare sometimes the overall tempo speeds up but sometimes its ok? I set the tempo in AUM Etc to the same as Kaola but still issue

  • @elf_audio no rush but an overall Master Output dial would be a good addition

  • stormbeats, it's a $2.99 app, dude.

@ipadthai your name “ipad” thai sound like a $2.99 app.You like to always drop dumb comments in posts. For your information I have inboxed the dev to say with further developement I would happily pay for In App purchases which is good business for the dev. Will you pay or will you keep up with your little hand jabs....you prob gonna respond with your little jabs Iam not gonna respond so up to you.

  • @ipadthai i rest my case. The dev actually is helpful and appreciates good feedback.

Portrait is useless for an iPad in the studio. I use stands for iPads so the connections are out the way to the sides.
It’s not about how it looks it’s about simple ergonomics. An iPad is not a big iPhone.
Il buy it when it’s landscape.

  • I don't mind portrait mode, unless I'm using other music apps at the same time. Then it becomes an issue, as the majority are landscape, so you end up mucking about rotating the pad as you switch from one app to another.

Landscape for me is the way forward for this app. On iphone Portrait is ok

  • Picked this up solely on hype a little but ago but didn’t dig into it until last night. Very cool. Will be used tons for found sound sample making. Resampling is great. Portait is better for me since i don’t think i’ll even use it on my iPad, just the phone. My only request would be some sort of quantization to make the created loops be even more useful. I do make beats without quantization sometimes but mostly if there are other elements i can play and groove to.

Great work @elf_audio seems like a classic in the making.

Hey @stemshade thanks! There are quantize settings when you tap on the BPM button, should let you apply some swing too. Not that obvious, will put in the next tutorial video. more tutorials here

Originally, the app was focussed on the iPhone screen format, but will get to making the landscape ( + upside down portrait) when sales get a bit closer to minimum wage in my country

@stormbeats (and everyone else) thanks so much for your thoughts and contributions - I'm new to this whole world of iOS music making, learning VERY fast!!

In other news, I will be putting a much, MUCH better pitch tracker in for the BASS SYNTH mode, it's not that useable except as a whacky effect at the moment. Hold tight!

    ahhh, perfect then! thanks

  • So, I got 'hooked' on Koala and got Sampletoy as well :)

Is there an 'easy' way to normalise the recorded sample? (I know it's possible to re-sample using the effects but anyway).
Is there any way to do 'destructive' trimming of the recording or save the sample?

@elf_audio I managed to 'kill' the audio completely when using the 'bass synth' effect.
The iPad Air 2 speaker clicked and audio died. I needed to re-start the app to get the audio back.

I was running the app as stand-alone so it couldn't benefit from the clip protection some hosts have implemented.

I'll be having loads of fun with this app, that's for sure!

How many requests have you already made in this thread so far? Don't do to this thread to what you did to the GrooveRider thread. This is a $2.99 app, not a DAW. It's annoying, to say the least, to see half the posts in this thread from you.

  • I have an issue where sequences longer the one bar won’t start from the start of the sequence when switching between them, or they will but one sample in the sequence won’t start until halfway through. Usually 2-4 bar sequences give me the trouble, so that I can’t switch between sequences smoothly. Does anyone else experience this?
