A cheeky non simple mode switch in options would be interesting for tweakers 🥴
This is a great mobile sampler on my iPhone 11 Pro and I’m really enjoying it. However, I’m baffled why stereo recording is only supported via usb when the later iPhones have stereo mics built in.
Introducing, BeatMaker3
+1
Never thought of that. Will finally get around to getting old projects out of GarageBand now 👍🏻
Just have to show you this setup because it's a bit fun, but, mostly stupid. I mean - I do have TH-U and can record samples and import but I wanted a live input to Koala with a distorted guitar so here goes the knucklehead setup:
To clarify: iRig 2 (first version) in an iPhone 5s where IK iRig is used. Then a cable from there (iRig) to the Scarlett which is the sound interface my iPad use. Also have an Launchpad as a footswitch as I do not own a real one
I did mash together so I could get it in one shot, have a little better order than the photo, but not much.
Have you got REALLY pointy shoes or something?
Dude, there's only room for one elf on this forum.
Thanks for explaining. That makes sense.
hahaha
HAhahahah the first thing I thought when I saw that photo was "HOW?"
Rediscovering Koala with Samuraï, what a great update!! Super cool to use this app in slide over to record sounds from AUM via Audiobus:

Could you consider implementing IAP family sharing? It’s just an option to enable.

@elf_audio
I’ve already asked but could you consider add pads velocity playing?
I need that so I use often Xequence pads AU to play Koala:
Pads can be configured with Max velocity at center, bottom, top... much more expressive playing and dynamics nuances for beat making:
Koala would be even more complete
I thought there had been introduced a way to reverse / switch the incoming MIDI notes to trigger pads from bottom left when in portrait view, like a traditional MPC layout?
Am I wrong?
I guess this would be confusing when switching between landscape views.
Perhaps I should just mod a custom layout on the Launchpad X to line up that way.
Do you mean my image? No feet are visible except to the right (black plastic) where my big IKEA desk show one of it's feet. Is that what you referring to or am I missing something obvious?
I also use it 'upside down' with my MPD controller. I just mapped it from the lower left pad instead of the upper left. My brain managed to figure out the mismatch quickly enough, haha.
Probably referring to the LP mini as a footswitch But if you take off your shoes then the big toe is up for it!
Ah, damn I'm so dumb. Of course. Thank you.
Well, the pads don't care if you happen to press a few extra as only one can get recorded at the time so that's no problem. @OscarSouth I have programmed some for start/stop/record AUM but I did 4 pads with the same CC so I don't have to aim so sharply.. @elf_audio Your Elf status remain: the one and only.
Thanks Samu!
I uploaded the Xequence-Kola template here:
http://preset.audiob.us/#B9NhtuktUBikbyU
Also attached is a zip which contains the following:
A few notes:
For transport I have enabled Link in Audiobus and Xequence 2, but not in Koala. In Koala I have enabled IAA sync and IAA sync is also enabled in Audiobus. Works best for me.
Since Koala does not have state saving in Audiobus its a good idea to keep track of which Koala project belongs to the Audiobus session. Also, the tempo sometimes is mismatched when loading the template so I always make a note of which BPM is used, saving the bpm in the filename for instance.
Use the Koala sequence trigger drum maps in Xequence 2 to trigger the sequences in Koala. I have a single drum map for all the 4 pages of sequence slots (A-D) in Koala. Seq A1 in the map corresponds to the bottom left sequence in Koala. Remember to enable midi mapping in Koala.
I have also made a few instruments in Xequence which have the CC controls set to control the different performance effects in Koala. They should be visible in Xequence 2 when you open the Audiobus preset.
I have not midi mapped triggering of the pads in Koala so you need to use onscreen pads in koala while midi mapping is enabled.
I use this template to make “songs” out of the sequences in Koala. Just start recording in Xequence and then you can jam and record changing sequences and effects from Koala.
Hope that you can have som fun with this
It was EG Pulse that had that feature added to it.
Can you use a bluetooth controller such as Korg nanokey for midi mapping?
It makes no difference whether the midi comes from a Bluetooth device or from somewhere else. Any midi can be used.
Koala doesn't have the iOS Bluetooth connection dialog built-in, but you can connect the NanoKEY or any other BT MIDI device using the Korg BLE Midi app or any host such as Audiobus or AUM that has the connect dialog.
@elf_audio - I think the BLE Midi connect dialog is a fairly simple addition that might be worth considering to add to the MIDI settings page.
Excellent! Thanks

Bingo! I had an inkling it may have been another app. Cheers.
I found this a while back about BLE Midi. There may be something newer out there but I didn't really look.

Hi,
Is there any way to make the sample edit window go to full screen when it’s tapped?
Cheers.
No, but can I ask why it would be helpful?
I post this again :

@Janosax Its easy enough to do, but I'm greedy and want all the money I can get. I've enabled it now.
