  • Wanted the offset for ages, but I’m finding the app not working playing along to transport with Logic Pro? (Updated and opening existing project it was in).

  • Hey, I vaguely remember someone making a demo video showing how they used Octachron for effects similar to Sugarbytes Effectrix. I didn't save the link unfortunately. I might've seen it linked to on FB.

Does anyone remember that and have the link to the video?

    Or, I could be mistaken.

    Yes! Thanks!!!

I want to try this out on other midi cc effects apps too... just wanted a refreshed of how he set it up :)

  • Thank you for the new offset feature @TasTax 👍

    magic. have fun skip :)

  • What an update today!

  • @TasTax thanks for an amazing update - offset is huge for me :)

am getting one bug since the update though - sometimes Octachron just stops playing. (AUM, ipadOS 17). starting and stopping transport or switching patterns doesn't fix it. If I eject and reload Octachron and the preset it plays fine for a while; not sure what causes it to stop.

  • Hey everyone!

Thx for your feedback, great you like it! 🙂
And @MJKLZ and @ermwhish, if you keep experience these issues, could you record a little video and pm it to @reinerspass ? That would be great.

Thx a lot for your support everybody! ✌️

Had this happen to me as well. I just “refresh” the program by reloading it in AUM. It happens also in an unrelated product. Reloading Mozaic, which has a script loaded, fixes the non playing.

You might want to see if the problem lies in host communication, perhaps when the host clock and timeline have started or not. Just my uneducated guess.

  • I also appear to be having similar issues in GR2, transport not triggering OCTACHRON?

  • edited June 3

Using Octachron as strictly a midi cc controller/sequencer with probability and step repeats, etc. on Shoom is magnificent! With probability settings you can get nicely evolving compositions going with little effort. Easy to set up too.

You don’t even have to set up more than a few controls and a couple sequences to get nice results.

    Brilliant!

  • That’s a great idea @skiphunt

    Much appreciated, thanks!

  • Dear Beta Testers!

We fixed the main transportation issues you reported in AUM, Logic and Grooverider 2 in Beta V 2.1.1
Do you still have any issues?

Thx a lot for your support and best greetings from Munich 🙂

  • The update is great but I have a problem… sometimes when I’m using Octachron as an AU (in Drambo) my sequences aren’t saved. I can’t reproduce it, it happens randomly that I’ll open a project and Octachron is completely reset. I haven’t had this happen with any other apps. Not sure what’s going on but unfortunately it means I can’t rely on it. Has anyone else encountered this?

Tested and tried but couldn’t duplicate behavior on the templates I’ve tried it. First time trying OCTA in Drambo though. This happens with older templates pre recent update? Just a thought trying to find the cause as that shouldn’t happen ideally.

  • Can this app do polymeters, polyrhythms, and metric modulation, changing time sigs every bar or two and the like?

Heyhey! Thx for asking. Yes, it has got track length and clock divider per pattern and track. Please also see the chapters Track Settings, Modulation and Song Mode in the manual on that 🙂

    https://www.octachron.de/manual.html

Oh, that's encouraging; I might have to try this app.

So for polyrhythmic elements, taking the note values below as an example

    The manual says under Modulation:
"Track Length allows you to change the length of each track independently from the others and create polyrhythms")
...so just set Track Length under Modulation to 4, 6, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 32 to achieve the note divisions above?

Apologies if I'm asking something obvious.
I achieve the above in Patterning in the following manner (a little more involved but not horrible)
    Patterning example in 4/4:
    1/4 notes: STANDARD MODE, Duration=1/4 note, Steps=four
    1/4 triplets: STANDARD MODE, Duration=1/4 triplet, Steps=six
    1/8 notes: STANDARD MODE, Duration=1/8 note, Steps=eight
    1/8 triplets: STANDARD MODE, Duration=1/8triplet, Steps=twelve
1/16 notes: STANDARD MODE, Duration=1/16, Steps sixteen
Quintuplets: DIVIDE MODE = 20 steps (5 X 4 ...multiplying the 5 note quintuplet times 4 -because in 4/4 time there are four quintuplets per measure)
    1/16 Sextuplets: DIVIDE MODE = 24 steps (6 x 4)
    Septuplets, DIVIDE MODE = 28 STEPS (7 X 4)
    1/32 STANDARD MODE Duration=1/32 note, Steps=32

(Will try to figure metric modulation and polymeter next, just trying to understand one at a time... I'm a little fuzzy on translating clock multiplier/divider values to certain standard musical values)

  • Hello, I don't find my presets (saved from a standalone Octachron session), when I load Octachron in AUM as an Auv3 midi sequencer. How can I find it ? Thanks!
