That’s a great tip, cheers.

Just remember to remove modulations one-by-one (you can do this quickly by double-tapping each of the blue/pink orbs) instead of using the 'clear all modulations' button .
Warning: if you use the clear all modulations button (top right corner) this also clears them for version A
Last year, I've asked SB to release Factory on iOS because its UI must be be great on iPad and now they just did it.

Wow.
SB is like Michael Jackson in the mid 80s, churning out great hit after great hit.
All I need now is Obscurium to complete the set...
I'm not a big Emily subscriber but in this case:
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all.
― Emily Dickinson
I’m not sure if Obscurium is a feasible prospect on iOS. Isn’t it a VST host, using other VST generators as sound sources alongside its own? We know that an AU host cannot (yet) be hosted itself. So unless this changes, or if Sugar Bytes omit this feature in the iOS version, I can’t see SB porting Obscurium.
Thank you for your reply, that’s not a bad idea, ironically, Job’s hated the idea of a pencil or stylus, but it’s a great tool.
I think they'll port Obscurium at some point, the vst hosting thing can always be achieved via midi as it's just a quick way of doing it without having to set it up manually via a separate track. Plus the standalone version will be able to host AUs like Thesys now can.
Wonderful verse.
Dunno, it could trigger MIDI like Aphelion, plus it has built in synths. UI would work...I reckon it’s a possibility
I’m not greedy though, Factory will keep me busy for a while
Anyone know how/if you can save the MIDI CC bindings globally ?
At the moment, If I assign a control with MIDI learn the settings are lost when I change patch.
Thanks
From the manual.
MIDI:
Provides Factorys MIDI settings:
@Jocphone thanks, somehow I missed that. RTFM.
Seems like a confusing description but I think I get it!
Hope is a rat with wings
(No, I don't believe that)
Overall the manual is pretty good but yeah I understand how that one could pass someone by.
If that was a dealbreaker for iOS version, the VST hosting feature could be removed if there was a robust MIDI out instead (which there may already be but it's not a feature I ever used on the desktop version).
Factory has many interesting options. Maybe I'll construct a midi controller, if I have enough time. A version might look like this.
Nice! And ambitious
is there a tempo dial in the standalone version ?
Buggered if I can find it ...
Or is tempo only set in the au host or something?
Looks more well thought out than a lot of Kickstarter campaigns! 😝
Anyone???
@Jes I searched in the settings of the standalone and checked the manual - but also could not find a tempo setting for the internal clock.
As a work-around you could enable Ableton Link for Factory standalone, then change the tempo from another launched link-enabled app and quit that other app.
any idea if this will come to iphone eventually?
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I think its a bit strange that there is a choice of internal and external clocks but no way of changing the internal one.
Sometimes I just wanna keep it simple and open an app and just use it. Being able to change the tempo of a synth with a sequencer and arp is a pretty basic requirement.
Sure, Link with another app is an option. But it seems that hosting as an au is the only way to change tempo at will. Its kinda weird.
This last video tutorial was an eye-opener for creating generative self-playing patches:

Thanks for this!
Thanks, I’ll have to try this out - really good video, and an amazing synth.
I learned several things from that video so thx for pointing it out. This synth is so deep that it's become one of those "hey dummy, you need to concentrate and really master this beast" apps for me.
Oh and sugar bytes can do no wrong these days!
This thing is great! Wish he shared that preset on the video it is so nice!
