The dude in this video is using a really nice rotary waveform analyser. Does anyone know of something like this for iOS? If not, what do people use for this job?

No circular display but similar display features: TB Barricade.

  • Thanks @rs2000 - I suck at using compressors so I’m hoping with better visualisation I might be able to get the hang of it

  • Some presets i’ve been using lately, drop the folder in aum>audio unit presets.

  • So many praises about the MagicDeathEye Compressor,... Hashtag „secret sauce“
I am preparing for Back Friday sales and think about what I could integrate into my arsenal and what is missing. This app however sounds incredible interesting. Would be someone of you so kind for a little test?

Please shoot me a private Mail if you like, I would love to record a little ambient drone composition with my guitar and send it to you specialists of MDE and see/hear a) what it can do to my tracks, b) if it is suitable for my music and my usecases and c) what the fuzz is all about ;)

Thank you in advanced and for your time!

  • @david_2017 i really like this idea as a general use case for this forum. Maybe even deserving of its own thread?
Though far from a comprehensive trial, it would be a novel way to help community members.

  • I really wish this had a manual. It sounds good/great and I generally trust my ears, but I really want to know this a bit better. Every time I use this, I feel a bit lost.

Thanks. Helpful, if not a perfect fit.

  • @jolico just in time for a Black Friday sale!

Exactly my thought. Quids are ready to finally join the magic train.

  • Yes. Was there ever a consensus about which one to get (I did follow the many threads..)?
Generally speaking the Stereo version is something to stick on the master bus? But then the other isn’t technically mono so could be used on master?
Saw a YouTube vid from another dev showing considerable “artifacts” at high frequencies though so maybe the original MDE is best off on low end instruments only? And of course CPU considerations...definitely getting one of them though!

MagicDeathEyeStereo has a few handy features that the older one doesn’t have:

    • output gain control
    • low cut
    • bass frequency boost EQ
    • high frequency boost EQ (stereo/mid/side)
    • oversampling
    • harmonics mix control
    • sidechain from external source
    • wet/dry control for parallel compression

I bought MDE last year for BF, they may put the apps on sale again. Should have picked up some other DDMF apps at the same time.

  • I bought MDE last year for BF, they may put the apps on sale again. Should have picked up some other DDMF apps at the same time.

Definitely. I recommend them all. They all get used frequently (DirectionalEQ less so but that’s more likely due to my novice mixing knowledge).

  • I am really curious and excited if it’s useful for my sort of music and if this compressor really adds that magic sauce they are talking about all the time

  • if i press on that red light a label saying „aura“ appears. Is this the alternate compression mode? Anyone knows what it does?

    Yes.
    Laura mode.

Punchy/Redhead mode was named Laura mode on gearslutz. The dev liked it and it is now officially called Laura mode.

  • I have many hardware synths and drum machines that I run through AUM with send effects for my live YouTube channel. Will MDES work on the master bus when playing multiple synth parts live or is too much latency introduced?

    Thanks,

It will be nice and latency wouldn't be a factor. The only general FX that tends to annoy me for latency is Brusfri but when I need it nothing else is as good at eliminating noise.

No look-ahead latency with any ddmf apps, but MagicDeathEyeStereo is a little heavy on cpu with oversampling switched on.

  • Thanks for the replies! @McD I use Mpow Ground Loop Noise Isolators on all the hardware that uses USB power. That cuts out all the noise.

  • So picked the stereo version up in the sale nearly 50% off. Hopefully can see what magic this does now.

    Hello Noob,

I‘m very interested in your presets as a starting point. Can you upload again please.
    Many thanks.

  • @noob wow that would be golden for all those who jumped recently on the MDE Train!

  • Awesome! Looking forward to check this beauty out!
