It really is a beautifully designed app.
I must say though, I think I preferred the typeface used in v1.
Thanks a lot!
The typeface was switched mostly to conserve horizontal space so that everything still fits on the smallest devices (iPhone 5s, SE). (The current font is very condensed as you can see 🙂)
Yeah, thanks so much for leaving it optional. It was pretty neat to see it auto create midi tracks but it may be all my fault in setting it all up in AB3.
I noticed that as long as I have one X2 instance inside AB3 I’m able to use the AB3 sidebar to switch back and forth the apps! So I just use AB3’s midi bridge to select X2 as the destination in the midi page of AB3. Only thing I don’t get is why there’s only 8 midi out channels available instead of 16 or more. But 8 is really enough for me right now as my basic backing tracks for my One Man Band preset are Bass, Backing Pads, Lead Synth and Drums. I’ll try to add apps etc later but I just wanna have a stable system.
I hope @LuisMartinez updates iBassist to recall the midi settings selected so one doesn’t have to go back and reset them every single time.
I also love the ability to remote start X2 record from within the AB3 sidebar cause that allows me to hear the X2 count in and start playing on Navichord on the dot! So awesome!
I’m hoping to do a short video soon if time allows with this setup. I’m really happy with X2!
@SevenSystems I have a problem with the split mechanism. Use case: I’m zoomed in into a clip in the arranger view. I know where I want to put my split marker and split the clip. But when I push the split button, the split marker doesn’t show up. If I zoom all the way out and push split again, here it is, the split marker right in the middle of the screen. But then, I can’t properly drag and position it where I wanted it to be because of the coarse grid resolution when the clip is zoomed out.
I would suggest to place the split marker within the currently zoomed view.
.
Confirmed. The dashed split line should always be visible, no matter what zoom level.
@SevenSystems and @Tones4Christ I’m pretty sure you’re talking about different things here. I think what @Tones4Christ is really referring to is MultiTrack Recording, not Auto Track Management.
@Tones4Christ, the reason you’re getting too many tracks with Multi Track Recording is probably because the same Input sources probably are coming in under different ports. You probably have Audiobus and iBassist both enabled for input in the mid settings page for instance. So, you’d get one track for the midi coming from Audiobus and another coming from iBassist. If you also had Xequence enabled, you’d probably get a third.
But yes, manually creating instruments, then assigning inputs to them is the slower but more controllable option.
(FWIW @SevenSystems, I like Auto Track Management)
Yeah I have all midi ins enabled 🤪😂😲🤓
I was finally able to get my midi playback all squared away! In AB I created more midi lanes to put the synths that will playback the midi from X2. Only thing I need to do is remember to change Funk Drummer to Sound Module mode and enable the midi input in it to receive the recorded midi from X2. Thanks so much Wim!
Recording iBassist in real-time is pretty fun! With Live midi in one can drive it and it follows your chord changes! Pretty awesome! And all the midi gets recorded in X2.
You probably mean Audiobus MIDI Ins
The main reason is that it's very tedious to register the MIDI Inputs in the Audiobus developer console, maybe @Michael can add a "Generate xx numbered MIDI ports" button
Just to clarify: Xequence does NOT support showing a "ghosted" version of parallel notes or controllers from other clips (for orientation) -- that's something that is on the roadmap, but I can't give a definite timeline. You CAN however merge overlapping clips by just selecting them all using tap-hold and drawing a small rectangle about them, and then PROCESS -> Join.
Yes of course, that's no problem at all. Any app that has a virtual MIDI Input will show up in the "Select MIDI Destination" menu in the instrument settings, and you can also enable Xequence's Virtual Source and set that for an instrument's MIDI Destination, so that other apps can listen to it. Using hardware interfaces is also no problem at all.
Yes, thanks for reporting -- it's a known issue that should be fixed by the end of the week. The problem is that Xequence tries to intelligently guess the initial split cursor position, and unfortunately, when zoomed in very close, it may happen that that guessed position is outside the view. In that case, Xequence should just place it in the center of the screen. Will be fixed in a few days!
Happy to help you out, just drop me an email 😊
You can also use multi instance ports, which are unlimited and you only need one port (it gets duplicated as the user adds more). See dev docs for details or drop me a line.
Sorry, it was just a bit tongue-in-cheek!
It takes about 10 seconds per port if you're fast, but I'm sometimes a bit impatient. No need to do anything. It's often best to ignore me
Wow this sounds really promising!😊🎹❤️
Same issue I used to have with KRFT but so glad We have the best devs in the world here!😌🤗❤️❤️❤️
Hehe sure
Hey I did notice that when you split and the prompt comes up telling you there are notes where you are splitting and asks if you want to keep them. It seems to favour one side?
Like if I split a clip and want to keep the notes associated with the right side it seems to associate them with the left clip.
+1 on the Midi ghosting. I use it more than I realize on my desktop daw of choice (DP) and it seems a great match for Xe2. Great for quick track switching within the selected region, too.
Now I miss the feature and it was never even there.
Yes, that is true -- if the note starts in the left clip, it will always "stay" in the left clip, no matter how much of its length is in the right clip.
Oh cool. It's no problem to drag them onto the grid before splitting anyway, but it would be nice if both sides kept the notes to avoid having to do that. If that's not too much trouble
If both sides kept them, then it would be a double note! It would be sent both at the end of the left clip, and before the beginning of the right one, at the same time.
That makes sense.
One thing I don't like is if I am recording from the start of the timeline, my first notes recorded on the downbeat are lost because I am slightly early.
Again I can work around by leaving a blank bar at the start that but other DAW/midi sequencers still keep the notes when you are early.
Enable “Record During Count-In” to address that without having to insert a blank bar. You might need to move the note up to the beginning of the bar to get it to play.
Hello Chaps
I just posted about an issue i’m having with Sunrizer automation in Cubasis.
Could Xequence help me with this and how?
Sorry if this is obvious. I’m kind of brain dead with figuring out Xequence today.

Thanks
Excellent, thanks. I wasn't quite sure what that option was for.
I can’t think of any. I don’t think Cubasis has any way of mapping cc’s to AU parameters, so it would’t do any good to have Xequence sending cc’s to it. You could use the IAA/Standalone version of Sunriser, map a midi cc to that control, then record or draw automation of the cc. But you don’t need Xequence to go that route.
I can always rely on you wim. I’ll try with the IAA/Standalone version in Cubasis. 👍🏻
Us guitar players gotta stick together. 👍
So True! 🤘
