Can you turn off the internal sounds while using MIDI Out? I’m still hearing them alongside the likes of Animoog and Model 15, even when I’ve set Main Instruments A and B to MIDI Out. (Great app, btw. Just bought it.)
Yes, tap the speaker icon next to part.
Got it. Thank you
@moodscaper Thanks for the great update with midi out, I’m trying to send all midi output to Xequence on different channels to record a whole performance but if I select Xequence for the main instrument A on channel 1 for example, it’s then unavailable as a destination for the other instruments.
This was also my main combo hope for MIDI out. I communicated with the dev, Rob, yesterday about this and there is a limitation on destinations being selected for one part of Touchscaper only at a time.
I believe this is because the MPE feature sends it's MIDI on all channels, further complicating multi routing to one destination.
However I've found that using Ableton Link Start/Stop to start and record Touchscraper's MIDI from within Xeq2, albeit only one channel at a time, is a quick and smooth process.
Good work @moodscaper!
Thanks for replying, I’ll try that with one track, I was wondering as well if there’s a work around by routing through other apps. Will have a play later on.
Had fun using the midi out option earlier.
Hey guys, cool stuff - just catching up and thanks so much for helping each other out!
Just to let you know there's an update currently awaiting Apple review with a few fixes and also adds support for virtual MIDI ports for each of the touchscaper "sources". Makes touchscaper a lot more AUM-friendly I think.
Little demo here using a couple of instances of Audio Damage's Continua app running as AUs - Continua is an MPE playground!![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)

Your app is absolutely amazing. I bought it yesterday and already had so much fun!
This looks great, looking forward to the update, thanks for making such a cool app.
Convinced, bought it!
Wow, what a joy to fly this thing, much appreciated.
Thanks so much guys! Great to hear you're enjoying the app. Still waiting for the 1.4.2 update to get through. Hopefully soon. Planning on doing some more testing with hardware today...![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Hi FYI I have several hard synths, I have been playing them fine with Moodscaper via a bluetooth Midi dongle I connect to the synths, Moodscaper recognizes the bluetooth midi destination and works fine.
However, I can't use a BLofeld with bluetooth and if I attach my Blofeld to the iPad using the a camera connector kit then Moodscaper does not recognize the BLofeld as a midi destination, yet all my other app do (for example KB-1, AUM, ...)
cool, what is in the 1.4.2 update?
@moodscaper Hey Rob, I'm just digging into the app now, and making my way through the manual. Thanks for making the videos on YT, I know they were done pretty quickly but on many of them it's pretty hard to understand what's going on - some text overlays just explaining the basic functions being demonstrated would be really helpful.
For example the video that demonstrates the "SMARP" feature doesn't really do anything to explain what the feature is or what it does, so after watching it I'm not really any the wiser. A few lines of text on the video just saying "SMARP is a feature that..." would be so much more helpful.
Smart arpeggiator from everything I just read. I agree that it'd be helpful, but then again this is why this forum is such an awesome resource to fill in the gaps on all our super smart apps!
I just want to add that this app is revolutionizing my iPad experience. I have been looking for an easy way of setting up chord progressions, linking to the various synth apps I have and I think this one has finally clicked out of all the apps I've bought. (quite a few sequencing and chord playing apps)
I am just embarking on setting up a Floyd Shine On You Crazy Diamond that I can then play GeoShred over and it is just so much fun. Actually way more fun than playing the guitar because it sounds good and I don't suck! (tip of the hat to Ben Eller)
Hey guys - thanks for the kind words, and I totally hear you on the lack of proper tutorials. It's something I do hope to address, but if I'm finessing videos, I ain't writing code![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
The videos I share are really just test sessions that I happen to be screen recording, so I get the videos "for free" so to speak in terms of my time - all I do is edit them down - basically just grab a section that I think might be interesting. I've got a ton of screen recordings with crashes and bugs in but I don't post those on YT
Just wanted to put it in context - I don't sit down and say "hey I'm going to make a hard to understand what's going on" video, it just unfortunately can end up a bit like that. And the latest MIDI ones have been more along the lines of "here's a thing that's I got working and here's what it sounds like" ![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
If I could afford to pay someone to write a great user guide and do an awesome set of tutorial videos, I would![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smiley.png)
@eross Re 1.4.2 update (still awaiting review):
• MIDI message optimisations / reduced likelihood of stuck notes
• fixed issue with stuck notes when changing MIDI connections
• touchscaper sources now appear as virtual MIDI outputs (more AUM-friendly)
• touchscaper sources can now share MIDI destinations (please read user guide)
@mungbeans - I think I know what the issue might be with the Blofeld - my bad. I'll add it to my list of things to look at. When 1.4.2 is available, I think you should be able to route one of the touchscaper virtual ports to your Blofeld using AUM as a temporary workaround. When 1.4.2 is out, please let me know how you get on with that.
@moodscaper I've spent some time with the manual and I am getting more familiar with the app - it's really very good, really powerful and interesting. Initially I stayed away from it because I thought it was just another generative app, but in fact it's much more than that, and much more useful. It can be used as a performance app, or as a songwriting tool, and I really like the whole concept behind it, it's unique and original.
One thing I think the app really needs though is proper state-saving: currently if you save a scene it only saves the scale and chords, and part of the arranger (but not the push settings for example). All the sequencer settings and the instrument assignments are lost once you quit the app. To my mind the concept of a "scene" would include everything that's currently loaded, and there seems to be no way to save the sequencer settings etc...
But the app is really great for writing songs and exploring chords, and can generate nicely grooving chord progressions - I really love the "push" function BTW.
This app is just really fun to play with. I can set up a chord progression and some sequences, and just noodle over the top, and you don't quite know what's going to come out but it always sounds so good. It kinda feels like I'm cheating, but who cares when I'm setting enough stuff up that's 'me'? I can see this being a bedrock for a lot of tracks - just need to remember to hit that Record button in AUM whenever possible!
Yeah really like this
look forward to the virtual ports as agree it's currently tricky with AUM to route it
One thing is for me the channel selection isn't working...it's always coming in on channel 2 even if I select another channel. This had me scratching my head for a while.
Was there any talk of an AU version? This would be great for saving in host projects.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
having an ipad loaded with goodies, and a current unwilling to sort my numbers, i have been avoiding (mostly) any recent purchases
often - probly always - i have the tools to do the job
but - the interaction !
the way it plays in all ways
i find alot of joy in that
with the fantastic TC-Data, i didn't think i needed Touchscaper
and with Launchpad, i didn't think i needed JammPro
now having them both, wow what finger twistin' fun!
Both apps use symbols and did appear ((to me) before owning them) to be above my mindsinterest
but the fingers can play whilst the mind learns
and my ears and i are in joy
that's one of the things i ♥ about ipad musicing
even on a 'regular' keyboard
my fingers can 'ripple' on the screen, like they cannot on a physical instrument
they can span a greater distance ---> they can move faster
the machine makes 'me' better![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I totally agree with this! I have a song I am working on and I need to reload the instrument every time. I can configure it so that most of the song reloads except the instrument and of course the touches on the radar screen, but those are easy enough to estimate where they were and adds some variety to each playthrough.
When you say the sequencer settings aren't saved, mine are saving the notes that I have picked but is there something else that you are tweaking that isn't being saved?
I'd add that saving a scene appears to be done via the edit button, which isn't very intuitive. I can find no "save" button in the scenes section but if you edit your current scene (making sure it is selected in the folder selector) then you can choose save/overwrite. I'd hope it'd be a simple implementation to put a "save/overwrite" feature in the lightbulb scene selector in the upper left hand corner.
Ah that was something I was missing - I opened the editor but didn't see a "save" button. I'll try using "edit" and see if that works better - thanks!
Update now showing, routing each port to AUM and recording multiple tracks in Xequence nicely, thanks @moodscaper
@Jumpercollins Could you add this to the OP?
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/touchscaper/id1250344299
Each of the windows has it’s own save button.
You can save arrangements and sequences into the current scene, through their individual windows.
