Good video from the dev.
@moodscaper Just watched your YT video. It was a joy watching it, and very helpfull. Hope to see more.
Hey folks - sorry, just catching up again! Yeah... hopefully my little video "gets the job done" but I'm no Doug or Jakob for sure!![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Regarding the question of saving "stuff" - yeah, it's a total mess, but everything potentially can be saved to your scene. I plan to re-work that so it's easier to understand what's going on.
Given the first "touchscaper tips" wasn't a total disaster, I'll do some more, focussed on MIDI initially as that's the real big current pain point, but then I'll start covering other stuff too. I'll be "taking requests" for topics in the comments. Cheers guys.
Great start, Rob! I'd love to see an overview of using the sequencer when you have a chance.
Cheers mate!
@moodscaper great job with the video! 👍
Thanks guys - I've made a note to drill into the sequencer in a bit more detail when I do the MIDI sequencer integration video. Maybe not in the next one, but the one after that. Going to try and do one per day for the next few days... Hopefully I'll get better at it!
Also, just to let you know 1.4.3 should be available very soon - it's in review as we speak - it has a fix for a really stupid bug with MIDI channel assignments ![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/blush.png)
This is the app I wasn’t supposed to buy because I already have a controller to play MPE stuff. But I have seen the videos and read the manual and of course I’ve bought it. I only have spent 5 minutes with the app and yet I’m very excited. It can complement the Linnstrument really well to create a band to improvise with.
Your videos are very inspiring too, also the ones in which you play other apps and those in which you don’t talk. And please, please, keep on the tutorial series. They are great.
In summary Touchscaper is good all around: good documentation, great inspirational videos, friendly support and excellent app. Thank you so much.
i don’t this yet but i plan to this weekend! looks amazing. is this supporting iaa only not auv3? not a deal breaker just curious
@moodscaper Great video.. relaxed.. focused.. helpful.. this is exactly what we needed.. 👍 really hope you continue with these.. and of course, I ❤️ touchscaper!
Hi praise, @Monome ,I’m trying to limit my app buying but this one has definitely been tempting me.
The Soundtestroom livestream this afternoon/evening was also really helpful which was joined by a whole bunch of folks I recognize from these forums and our illustrious developer @moodscaper too. If you haven't bought the app, Doug did a great job answering some of the basic questions folks have about enabling MIDI, what the SMart ARP is, and programming the sequencer. It's worth a watch even if you know how to app works!
I'll just add that programming the sequencer is cake but I don't know if it has been suggested before but a long press to delete an entry would avoid having to press an incorrectly entered note 5 more times to get it to disappear. Since I have fat fingers there are times when I press the wrong little square and end up having to press like a madman to fix it... and heaven forbid I go one too many and have to go around the circle again!
I agree, but I have had some good things happen when I enter a wrong step, but leave it in at a low probability.
It is like I get rewarded for being lazy and not following through. 😁
I do also try, @Gavinski
Just saying, if you like Animoog keyboard, this has it. If you like Borderlands playing surface or Samplr's way to interact with the screen, this has it. If you want a quick way to explore chords, get suggestions and do it in a expressive way... you want a clip launcher, a step sequencer, odd time signatures, swing, developer engagement...
I think I haven't been so excited with an app since I bought Animoog.
Doug's video, later.
Hey Guys - thanks again! @CracklePot + @fprintf - there's a little feature actually that I keep meaning to add to the user guide. If you put your finger down on the square, then drag off the square, that will clear that step so you don't have to tap away like crazy. Sorry that's not in the guide and thanks for mentioning it. I've made a note to cover that when I do a sequencer video.
Fantastic! I just tried it out and I’m surprised as heck I didn’t run into the feature already as this works really well.
This app is causing me to lose sleep. 5:30 am and up and playing with it already!
Nice - I tried to long press which I think is a more standard (and therefore more discoverable) gesture. That might be something to consider.
I think the way it is might be more useful. It is like erasing or swiping away an error with your finger. Maybe other people should code it in this way. Now that I've practiced a bit it is very much a better gesture for me than a long press.
Maybe, it does have the advantage of being quicker, but the caveat being that it’s not an easily discoverable gesture.
Thanks for the update @moodscaper![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I don't think it's fixed the midi channel bug for me though. No matter what channel I choose in touchscaper it's always coming through in channel 1 for me (checking main instrument with a midi monitor)
Looks like an excellent Animoog controller. I'm not normally buying non-AUv3 these days, but maybe this should be a Friday treat today.
@moodscaper, Hey Rob, just a suggestion:
How about being able to swap the positions of the Keyboard and Hold buttons. As a right-handed person, I find that getting to the Hold button is often awkward when I'm using my right hand for the Radar display.
I don't buy AUv3 either but as you say, it's Friday![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
I bought this ages ago because I liked the ambient moodscapes it did. Not for making music, just as background. And it's great for that.
But wow, these new changes are like getting a new app. Seriously impressed. Haven't dived in all the way yet, but already feeling like this might be a game changer.
OK - thanks for the heads-up, I'll investigate that. Pretty sure I had that working, although I was using apps to test it, not MIDI monitor. I'll get back to you on this. Is this in AUM or standalone? The idea is, in AUM you'd use the virtual ports (although you can still filter by channel), so I'm guessing this is in a DAW or with external hardware?
update - just quickly checked standalone and in AUM with Model 15 (running as AU in AUM). Seems to look OK to me. I'll do a quick hardware check too... Anyone else having issues with MIDI channels? I'm on 1.4.3 (2) by the way.
And thanks guys! There's a new "touchscaper tips" video by the way.
I was using Touchscaper in standalone checking the midi in AUM via the virtual ports and the AUM port...
@sch - yep, that has been suggested a few times and it's in the backlog, although sadly never bubbled-up very high. Longer term, I'd like all the "widgets" to be dockable, then you could lock them down when in "performance mode". Something along those lines maybe. I've also had folks ask for the ribbon to be along the top or even the middle which surprised me, but there you go!![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
@Carnbot - I'll hopefully cover this in more detail tomorrow with a AUM deep dive (although you probably know AUM better than I do), but in case you don't know, if you select MPE, touchscaper will use channels 2-9. This is an MPE standard, well, some of the time it is
Currently, anything set to OMNI, will go to CH1. I'm doing a little test right now running TAL as an AU and all the channel stuff is kinda making sense to me. I've also checked using the MIDI Monitor in this toolkit:
