Chilling in the Fx slot like Koala, oh the possibilities 🤯

  • @ExAsperis99 did you seen the pad edit section? there you can press the little folder icon on the right of each lane and import files from other kits or from FILE app (pressing the little cloud icon on the top-right corner)

And @ElliottGarage while i provide some relaxation time for you in the form of YouTube, have you seen this awesome review by Accurate Beats on Serato?

Yes, this is nice... and simple..

Now this is what I would see as a ‘game changer’ if it ever made it to iOS/iPadOS as an AUv3!

Personally I’m fed up with ‘beatbox after beatbox’ pretending to be a one stop solution for sampling and fail to deliver, not dissing EG Pulse but for me the main sequencing should be done in a host not in a ‘Plug-In’.

Well if you haven’t used EG Pulse you shouldn’t be knocking it...cause so far it’s knocking my socks off 👊🏼™️💕

  • @samu and if I give you polyrhythms? That's not possible to do in the host :)

I do think that E.G. Pulse can pull this off..😇😉

It’s always possible to use midi plug-ins for that, if or when it’s needed ;)
But sure there’s a difference between a ‘Sampler’ and a ‘Drum Sequencer’.

Highest on my wish-list is something similar to Ableton Simpler and/or Serato Sample.
AudioLayer failed to deliver here, BM3 is still ‘under construction’ and Steinberg is sleeping and missing an opportunity to bring the Cubase Sampler Track to iOS/iPadOS.

Knock down Koala from the throne for quick, easy and fun sampling/re-sampling with effects and you’ve got my attention ;)

  • So they advertised a drum app which dann fast evolved into something so much more!

Wow the comparison with the Blackbox 1010music and this video are stellar.
Elliott is a truly magician at the coding board!!!! Your pace is incredible sir!!!

  • Is round robin samples on the menu down the road?

@bounce screen recorder gives you a lot of possibilities too...also I'm adding m4a supports ;)

Man, you’re on fire. I was going to say I hope you have chromatic playing in by next week and then I scrolled down and saw you mentioned that.. ha! Make Sure you have a slicing option to explode into a 64 pad grid next week then. I’m kidding, but thanks for that m4a support and everything else. This app snuck up and has far exceeded expectations.

  • Velocity layers would be a big bonus.

Just bought the app. I agree regarding the BPM wheel. I really hope this app will receive another coat of polish.

Pad numbering should really start at the bottom. Then there will be a 1:1 relationship between the pad I'm hitting in real life, and the pad lighting up on the screen. The default kits seem like a bit of an afterthought, and it makes the whole experience feel unpolished. Maybe most people won't mind because they're using their own samples, but I wanted to open the app and spend the first five minutes just jamming and making a simple beat.

And are mute groups coming next? The other apps have mute groups. I always use mute groups.

Also, I really don't like "hold down on a pad to bring up a menu". It makes it too easy to accidentally bring up the menu during a live performance. You could just use another "Edit" button with a different name. BM3 has Trigger, Loop, and "Hold" mode for each pad. There's no way to implement "Hold" with the current system.

It really is otherwise a great app. Lots of interesting features. But I may want to wait until the next update to actually use it.

Harsh in places and mostly certainly churlish also. Although I would struggle to write a single line that summed up a certain kind of wan criticism better than

I just grabbed Cubasis yesterday and I'm fixing some little bugs on it, and for the next release you'll get MIDI out. Already works pretty well on AUM (that was my main test host with Garage band).

Any chance of testing it with NS2? Sorry to be a pain. But note that in NS2, you have to use Midi Route or an equivalent to get midi out to work. Heck, I’d be happy to buy you that app if you could get EG outputting midi to NS2. I’m not kidding about that - pm me your details and I’ll cash you up 🙂

  • @audio_DT can you please send me a private message telling me how to setup Midi Route in NS2?

If I’m not mistaken, I think that method only works for AU Midi FX. Pulse is loaded as an instrument, so I think that’s why it can’t work.

The most practical solution short-term is probably just to load Pulse into Audiobus or AUM and point the midi out to NS2.

Wait a sec. The AU doesn’t output MIDI does it?

[edit] NVM. Missed that it’s not until the next update.

Ah, perhaps this answers my question. Was just wondering about exporting. Have been having a lot of fun with this and worked up 8 patterns in Song mode. No way to export audio/perfect loops etc?

I don’t think so, but using AUM with a sync quantum of one bar or higher should work.

Thank, Wim, I'd not thought of this. Great idea, and one I'll try later on, after work. Thanks.

@ElliottGarage One minor request regarding the pad layout.

Would it be possible to re-configure the pad layout so that 'Pad 1' would be at lower left instead of upper left of the 4x4 pad layout?(This is in my experience is almost 'standard' on most 4x4 layouts I've come across).

And well, 'pitch mode' for the pads with scales and octave up/down would be an awesome addition ;)

Also if possible an option to disable the 'long tap' to edit the pads.
I love to rest my fingers on the pads and that switch to pad edit drives me nuts...

Also I can't seem to disable Midi In nor the Metronome in the settings?!
And no way to enable 'Big Pads'.
    (I'm on iPad Air 2, iPadOS13.1)
    Cheers!

Hmm, how do I set the default pitch & tuning for the samples in EG Pulse?
Is there a way to 'perform' reverse play of a sample?(Ie. something like hold down 'Reverse' and tap a pad?).
Is there a way to immediately stop playback? (The mandatory play to end of pattern before stop is annoying).

I'll hold off my AppStore stars until I feel comfortable with the app :)

  • @Samu I'm changing the layout as you said, many users request this :)
Chromatic pads will be in the next big update (hopefully next week). About long press I'm still thinking what could be the best solution...probably just a settings to disable it
I'm submitting today a little update to fix a crash on iPhone sample import and the Settings not working.
Pitch of samples can be changed in mixer or automation.

Reverse is in my todo list.

    Awesome!

My 'logic' told me to go look for a pads default tuning when editing the pad.

If applicable a 'to do' list would be nice so I don't post duplicate requests ;)

  • @ElliottGarage Has there been any requests for Triplet Snap/Grids(1/8t, 1/16t)?

If not it would be nice to add it to the list.

Also I do feel dedicated stop and reverse buttons would in place.
Reverse to perform 'pattern stutter'(ie. on tap start playback from step 1) and Stop to instantly to playback with double tap to stop all sounds from playing and thus silencing the sustaining sounds.

I'll see if I can figure this out but my logic fails me on where in the grid editor to find and show the automation lanes and change the division of the grid etc.(I'll watch some of the videos and see it if becomes a bit more clear).

    Cheers!

  • @Samu , snap to 1/12 and stop button will be in the next update. Automations are into the MIXER->AUTO section
I'm not sure to understand how you intend the reverse button for the pattern :D

Cool and I found the automation...

I meant 'Rewind' sorry. It's like starting pattern playback from step 0 again just like re-triggering a sample.
Another nice performance option would be to instantly switch patterns without waiting for them to finish.

The 'reverse' for pad performance is just playing the sample on a pad in reverse instead for forward.
(Like a reverse snare before a snare hit, or reverse crash cymbal before the crash etc.).

    I'll explore further :)

@ElliottGarage Has there been any request to do direct step programming on the pad page?

    Two methods could work here...

    1) Select a pad and tap on which steps the pad will trigger.
    2) Select the step and then select which pads will trigger on that step.

    1) Could be used easy step programming.(select a pad and then what steps it will trigger on).
    2) For adding multiple events to a step.(select a step and the pads that will trigger on it, good for poly/chromatic mode).

    1) Triggering on a step would add/remove the pad from the step in the sequence
    2) When selecting a step the pads triggered by that step would be highlighted and could be changed if needed.

This is just a lazy way to do programming and avoid swapping screens...

No need to implement but if sequencing can be made more effective and intuitive It's all for the good.
