No feature request in this post, just a bit of mindless fun with non-drum samples. 4 patterns, each playing twice in a row.
You will notice yellow arrows in some places. They indicate where a sample is quickly repeated to create a strange phasing/echo FX.
So you can do manual humanization...and the J Dilla thing!
Lol that’s excellent, great phasing tip in there, i likey 😎🤙
Thanks and I am glad the tip is useful to you!
100%
Yeah 1000%
Great for making really late snare grooves, funky unquantized hats, and because this is a sampling drum machine, some of us will want to record and trigger (non drum) samples that are killer when not locked to the grid.
So much hiphop has amazing broken patterns unquantized, interlocking with drums that are on the grid.
Would be really great to be able to turn it off on some tracks - best of both worlds.
Yea and definitely not just hip hop. I do this after export in a Daw and its extra work, would be a cool if it was added at some point.
I need to modify my audio engine to work gridless...I'll think about it but after other priorities.
In the meanwhile I just uploaded update 1.07...waiting for Apple review
1.07
FIX
That's awesomeness with a side of WOW. Good job! Thanks for adding a flexible slider rather than fixed slice number choices.
GR-16 has a unique ‘Groove-Quantize’ feature, will be interesting to see how it affects not only the drumming part of things but the sampler also ..
Great... looking forward to it...
Thank you..
Yes!!! I can’t wait for this to drop!
EG Pulse Chromatic pads recording preview
Ah right, I was wondering if we could mix and match chromatic recording and drum hits - looks like the answer is yes. That's very, very nice - looking forward to getting the update, thank you.
Update 1.07 just approved 🙂
I would suggest a beverage of your choice and a moment sat quietly in your salon listening to the soundless applause from the many other invisible places you have happily infiltrated with your code... Bravo.
It must be said again.......what a great support from a very responsive developer and lightning fast with great updates.
Thanks @ElliottGarage
Update now in UK time to play. Many thanks for all the great time and dedication your putting into this @ElliottGarage
Yep I will happily pay slightly more for apps if it means the devs can devote this much time to them.
Live! In 🇺🇸
@ElliottGarage has the pad order (1 being at bottom left instead of top left) been made possible in this update?
@JohnnyGoodyear @Pierre118 @gregsmith thanks, yes I'll take a beer and some relax now
@ipadbeatmaking this update has only the chromatic pads starting bottom-left
+1, this is becoming a killer app.
Well deserved.
Ok. I’m working on kits for it now, just wondering if the pad1 bottom left is planned for a future update so I can know how best to number and lay them out. Thanks
You are absolutely friggin amaaaahhhhzzzzing!!!! Thanks for all those feature heavy updates and the love and passion you put into this app @ElliottGarage
+1 ^ ^ ^
@ElliottGarage I wish I could buy you a drink or something, thanks for a great update. I love the chromatic pads.
If I get to wish for future features it would be the ability to record ”unquantized”. It’s not a big deal but like others might have said it’s great to have some drum parts unquatized and other parts quantized.
Without knowing anything about your engine - it doesn’t necessarily require that much change. When I implemented unquantized recording in Flow I kept the grid, then in a parallell structure store the offset of the played note to the start of each grid step. When replaying the notes you just delay playback from start of step with the same offset.
Of course my approach has some limitations like only one hit per note per step, but that goes for the standard quantized grid as well On the other hand, you can easily implement an OP-Z like ”gradual quantization” by just scaling the offset down which is neat.
PM me if you want to bounce ideas.
8x8 Grid for chromatic? Oh... I said it...
@Peblin thanks for your feedback, that's a good idea. I'm also thinking about triplets and a more flexible timeline in general...so maybe changing the engine and the way I store sequences it's the cleaner (but longer and problematic too) way. Maybe we can talk more in private message (I'm gonna check Flow btw)
If I think that all started from a simple 16 step sequencer engine in 2011
