same here...though I only have a Digitone as soundcard so only 1 Input and 1 Output pair.
Ah you can just open the context menu of the Audio Output module and change it to 2 8 or 16
i tried to delete the current ins and outs but i’m not seeing a delete under the submenu for them as i suspect you can only have one in and one out per rack
@mifki Its maybe confusing to have these Multi IO modules in the Browser since you cannot delete the Audio Output module from a patch and apparently you cannot have more then one Output module Maybe just have one output and input module as before and there users can change the number of channels in the context menu.
ahhh!
Yeah I'll probably show a message and offer to replace the current module with the chosen one. I just want to let users know there are bigger modules and multichannel support.
Omg, multi out.... i Will test it on my Es-9 and Es-5 tonight. Thank you for this yesss
@bobbfett Does ES-5 output audio too with ES-9?
Amazing work @mifki. Will be trying this week.
@auxmux Es-5 connects to channels 5 and 6( or is it 7 and 8) on es-8 or 9, and outputs 8 different gates more, there is an expander socket under the es-9 . And you can expand es-5 with even more cv outputs use for lfos. But to get it working you need the silent way modules in mirack.
I will test how it works this evening after work, and when it’s not so god damn hot:)
Amazing @mifki this is awsome
@auxmux I found this tutorial
Thanks @bobbfett So ES5 can only do CV/gate and not audio? 🤔
@auxmux yes it piggybanks on two audio channels on the soundcard, so it can’t do audio rate because of bandwidth (16channels Or more from two) but works great for gates (ex5) and cv (8cv module)
Thanks @bobbfett A bit disappointing as I was hoping ES-9 could output 16 mono outputs with expanders.
@auxmux I hear what you’re saying, but it’s still quite crazy, you get 8 fast audio rate outputs on the soundcard, + 2balanced outs, 2 ch to headphone, 2channels digital, 2 channels to es-5, and with expander 8 gates, and according to expert sleepers homepage up to 6 more expander modules can be connected, so crazy amount of cv and gates.
There is a little latency, as all sound cards work that way, if I do really fast stuff, and I notice I send clock from one output, then everything gets the same latency.
This nearly became a review, I just want to share my experience.
I will test it with miRack, so let’s see how it works with multi out
@auxmux ill guess if you want 16 dedicated outs, and don’t mind loosing the 14 ins, I guess you could go for es-8 with adat out to expander. Hmm does it also have adat in. I’m not an expert, you have to research.
Thanks @bobbfett This is all really helpful! I have an ES-9 on way eventually, so all details are super useful. I may consider ES-8 down the line, for additional outboard with ES6, but the 14 inputs are the real draw of ES-9.
No probs @auxmux , just ask if you want me to test or show anything. I learnt so much from everyone, so I would gladly help and give back.
Is it too late to join beta testers?
@mifki
Just tested new beta with es-9 and es-5 with multi channel out. It works great, yaaay, it’s available in standalone, not auv3. Just raw sound, quick test.
Awesome @bobbfett!
Just to be clear, it only works in standalone.
Yeah, makes sense. I have been using audio routing in AUM to send AU instances of miRack to my modular already.
I’m testing to get sync from AUM, and send channels also there for effects. Sending noice from Augen x to a sample and hold.
Mifiki said that there will be multi channel in AUM soon. This is turning out to be the best portable rig in my opinion, yayy
I can't get Save->Duplicate to work.
I set up a template patch with a limiter, VU meter, and audio out connected.
What I am trying to do is open my template patch, then make whatever changes I want, then save the new patch as a new copy of the template. I thought Save to Duplicate was the way to do it, but it doesn't seem to work. The template patch itself is always changed too.
Don't save first. Just hit "Duplicate or Rename" then "Duplicate". Pick the folder you want and then tap the patch name to change it. The original will remain as-is as long as you give it a new name or save to a different folder.
Thanks!
I figured out that I need to follow the Duplicate procedure before making changes to the new patch. Now I'm getting what I wanted.
It's good to know the other procedure though, in case you forget to duplicate before making changes.
By other you mean after making changes? That never worked for me, despite multiple tries.
I mean this:
It works for me. I don't know any reason why it shouldn't for you.
I followed your instructions verbatim, including not saving first. Did not work. Dunno why.
So I'll stick to the method that works. If this comes up again the future, I'll do a screen recording and put it up. But not right now.
