The other reason for midi out is to create variations of the main acid line for other synths/leads/bass lines.

I like layering with another 303 transposed +7 and a sine at -12 to move the subs.

  • I have pre ordered. I would also like to see MIDI out in the future, not for the slides etc which as Jim points out are tricky, but because my entire method relies on iterative tweaking of MIDI through apps like Cality etc. Being able to lay this up alongside some of that good randomness would be a very good thing indeed. Here’s hoping for down the line...

  • Midi out for the drums would be cool too.

  • @jimpavloff I would immediately go for a pre-sale. But with Black Friday around the corner devs can do strange things with their (new) app prices. Please confirm that you won't lower the price for Pure Acid with Black Friday sales and I pre order directly. It would be frustrating if Pure Acid would be lower in price a week after introduction (so at Black Friday November 29th). Thanks in advance to let me and the AudioBus community know that you won't lower the price of Pure Acid during Black Friday sales.

Preordered but I agree. The current price is almost giving it away. I almost feel guilty paying so little....almost.

You will have a dilemma if Jim is not around in the next day or so to reply- as soon as it becomes live in the App Store the price is going up. Jim has already told us the pricing strategy- it goes up further to this when it becomes an AUv3.
Its not coming down in price, it’s only going one way.
It’s already about half the price I thought it might have been (and a fraction of the price I would have paid), so I feel like I’ve saved already 🤗

  • edited November 2019

If I were a betting Man I'd bet a smiley face sticker that the price once it's an AU will be £15 and it will go on sale periodically for £8 (launch price).

Either that or it will be the same price as GR and will be discounted to £10 when on sale.

I would be very surprised if it was ever sold for less than the current price, but not even Jim can know that for sure.

Anyway, I've pre-ordered it and don't really care if it's discounted below the intro price in the future. I'm sure I will get more than enough value and use out of it before any such discount appears anyway. Why miss out? :-D

  • A bit of a Drambo Acid whilst we wait !

  • This forum is funny. On the one hand tell the devs to charge more, do a tip jar, Patreon or whatever , do IAP’s etc. to keep themselves and their app sustainable or on the other hand they be worrying if they’re going to buy an app and then have the price drop a few dollars. 😆😆😆

@jimpavloff apps are a proven known quantity and worth whatever the price.

Will the sequencer have midi out? (AU and standalone?)
    @jimpavloff

Interested in the answer to this also.

Midi's efficiency to transfer bassline slides, envelopes and accents is near zero percent. What's the point for it?

So that when I've made a bassline in the stand alone, to be able to put that onto a MIDI track in Cubasis for using with the AU when it arrives ?
It would also be useful for using that awesome looking bass sequencer to sequence my BassStation :)

Have no problem to pay more, BUT it's of course frustrating when you pay a certain amount of money and a little later the price comes down. Especially when you are on a small budget. There are quite a few people on this forum that made clear that they have small budgets. And we all remember the BeatMaker 3 story where the initial special price was $20 for short time and 3 weeks later it was given away for free. If you are a dev you should be clear and honest about the things a says. That after months you lower the price for a certain app to boost sales or discovered that your initial price is probably too high I personally have no problems with. It's more lowering of prices soon after an app is introduced, and in this case I referenced to Black friday that's around the corner.

    +1

Not everything makes sense as a MIDI controller.

On the other hand, there are many apps now that can re-generate useful sequences based on midi input. For instance, running the output of a bass line through Cality to produce a rhythm accompaniment.

With the tools available to iOS today, there are options open that often seem to not be apparent to developers focused on a single purpose. It's always good to air those requests, and hopefully is fine with people if the developer declines.

Jim didn't see the purpose of midi out from GR-16 either, but added it later, and it is a GREAT addition to that app.

Agreed. I just want to play with the app now so I'm not bothered if midi out is not included in the first release. At a later date, though, it would be nice to have - for the reason you point out.

    Yes to all of this.

Agree but as said in earlier response, with Black Friday around the corner, which is an event where nearly all audio apps go on sale huge I think asking a clear answer of Jim's pricing strategy regarding Black Friday sales is a legitimate question. Would be frustrating if your on a tight budget and you see a week after purchase an enormous pricedrop.

  • Well while I'm waiting patiently with the rest of you guys for @jimpavloff app (which i know is gonna be totally brill.. ).. Im gonna do a little plug, instead of uploading tracks from YouTube... I will be releasing a track on Black Friday.. Under the name.. Black Friday funny enough.. Its a remake on the label MMI.. Its already out on Promo.. Enjoy..

Funnily enough I’ve never got on with ReBirth - I’ve got the app, and had desktop versions over the years but never got on with the UI. I like the noise it makes though.

I’ll check out the Facebook vids, sounds like I’m more suited to a Brambos setup though.

So....begs the question....if you HAVE Rebirth on your Ipad already (and have a 12.9 so can actually see it/use it) will there be much difference? Literally asking for a friend because I've already pre-ordered :)

Also, the reason the videos are on Facebook and not YouTube is because the demo presets are recreations of some classic acid choons and YouTube thinks that the original tracks are playing in the video.

Just buy what you can afford and always assume that the price will go down at some future date.

I've just had a look at the vid, and had a play with Rebirth on the iPad - the new app UI is much better, and more user-friendly than the ReBirth app. Plus it's going to be well supported.

I think the only question for me is whether I'd actually use it when I've got all the Brambos stuff sitting here already. I need to dig that out later and see if it can do the same job.

Looks really nice though, I could see myself weakening over the coming months as a Friday night treat.

Yeah, the Rebirth UI was quite unpleasant to use on the iPad. I loved it on the Mac when it first came out. I don't think I ever used it on the iPad beyond a little bit of mucking about. On the Mac I loved the PitchBlack mod for the drum kits. I ended up using them with my AKAI sampler on a lot of stuff.

Much better connectivity including Ableton Link, much better and much more effects including MFX, much easier to programme and sequence, UI far better, AUv3 coming, better squelch factor, automation coming (hopefully) off the top of my head 👍

At release, Pure Acid won’t have a song mode or automation, correct? So it won’t really be a replacement for Rebirth as such. Also Rebirth has 2 303’s (although it started with 1).If you’re using Pure Acid IAA, you’ll be limited to one instance. When Pure Acid goes AU, it will be a different story, and with a decent host you’ll be able to build all kinds of dream setups.
