  • It sounds really choppy after recording a little synth into a slot, like stuttery

It seems that you have to manually save the files (both in IAA&AU version), whenever I reload a session all parameters are saved but there is no wave file ...

Maybe it helps to change the setting „Samples in Presets“.

Unfortunately it doesn’t , must clarify I don’t save any preset inside iDensity , only the session in Audiobus (AU or IAA) .

I haven't tried, but I'm guessing you need to save inside iDensity to ensure the sample is part of the preset. Think of a "normal" preset in a synth as just a small collection of some parameter numbers, probably just a text file. Now if a sample is to be part of the preset, this file becomes huge in comparison, thus it makes sense to ask the user whether it should be included.

Also - perhaps you want a preset of parameter configurations to work without changing your current samples?

An alternative could be to have a preset reference the name of a file on disk. But then that wouldn't work if you want to export and share that preset.

Some guessing here ... but these discussions have been on the forum before (for other apps).

Ok, simple stuff ... just save the sample so iDensity can find it on Session restoring , thanks :)

I think it’s meant to be , try messing with the parameters ;)

Interesting, SpaceCraft seems to be able to restore its state, including audio, without saving a preset. AudioLayer can’t.

The default parameters are set to make it ”stuttery” ie. Density default is 50%, RND (random) density and RND length default to 25%

If you want it to sound more true to the recording, set density at 100%, RND density & RND length to 0%.

  • I finally was able to spend some time with this yesterday.

HOLY CRAP it was so much fun!

I made all sorts of awful, howling noises and then drenched them in Blackhole Reverb.

    What good times. Thanks, apeSoft!

    What a Massive granular playground!!

  • Back again for more praise. The added au matrix makes this app a giant. This update really makes it easy to get going in terms of recording experimental ambient soundscapes. So impressed and pleased, for such types of jams, its becoming my go to before any other ios daw/mixer/sequencer.

    Apesoft🤘🏼

It was among my first few apps I bought, now years ago. And it still remains one of my top 10 favs.

Some people don’t jive with the matrix approach, but I love it. If you get on with the matrix and don’t have apeMatrix yet, it’s worth getting too. Same concept but does even more.

  • @skiphunt hey is there a way to extend the length of the stream window ?
Sometimes I would like to record for longer.
    -thx

    I don’t think so, but I’ll take a look.

Edit: Had a look... I don’t think so. Seems fixed.

  • New update won’t let me open my presets correctly. 😢😥
    Please tag the dev

    FINALLY

  • Hi friends. Does anyone knows how this matrix routing works? Right now iDensity became one of my favorite app by which i compose my ambient music (seriously -- less is better). Sometimes i use it in chain with my pedal setups, but sometimes i need only ipad, and hence -- more precise understanding how this matrix works.

Because, for example, on this i understand that on initial patch reverb works on master. Can i use it only on several streams? But i have no idea why dots on EQ and high-shelf filter situated on another spots? When i add auv3, for example, master EQ, run it, point mark as it pointed on reverb(just below), nothing happens, it doesn't work. And i have no idea how i can control chain of additional fx etc (what goes before).

Just can even image how i can feed audio to it in realtime (please do not offer aum -- i want to stay in one limit ecosystem).

I haven't found this stuff on the manual! So i would be very grateful for any kind of help.

@frthcomingstorm On the left are the outputs for the 6 samplers, internal effects, AU instruments, and AU effects.
On top are the inputs for the 6 samplers, internal effects, AU effects, and the main output (speaker icon on the top-left).
Make sure the last thing in your chain goes to the main output. Make sure the chain isn't broken somewhere (the effects need to be chained). Make sure each device is powered on (red on/off button), and the samplers are playing.

Hi, let’s troubleshoot from the back.

Classicverb is the only input into your output.
Highshelf is the only input into Classicverb
ParametricFilter is the only input into Highshelf.
    Inputs 1 - 6 go I to ParametricFilter

You have created a 6 in 1 chain where all your inputs are effected in sequence by ParametricFilter, Highshelf and ClassicVerb.

What would you like to do instead?

All I can say at the moment is iDensity, with its AUv3 hosting grid... is incredible. You can even host more iDensity AUs instances within an iDensity standalone. One of my absolute favorite experimental apps on iOS.

  • Hang on what? How did I miss this? 2 years later and I only just discover that one of my favourite apps can host AUV3s...

Right? This is news to me too. I wonder if it can take multiple inputs from an audio interface as well...

Yeah that one I knew, though again I missed the initial announcement.

Yeah, check it out! It’s really incredible. It’s like a basic apeMatrix embedded right into iDensity.

I was surprised when that dropped and there was almost no mention in the forum.

It can get beautifully insane very quickly. :)

And, when he added the AU matrix to it, it was free!

I absolutely love all from this devs, the flexibility and experimentation tools you can get out of this app is amazing. Also, it is really effective for time stretching porpoises. And Moebius Lab is an incredible audio experimentation tool and host, you can put audio units in between the internal fxs (that btw have a really different and creative approach)

Same here. And yeah... Moebius Lab is incredibly fun! I think I beta'd that one. It's really cool to get Moebius Lab doing all kinds of cool stuff... then, load that into apeMatrix or AUM, etc. for more madness on top of it. :)

  • Hot damn, been using this for years and had no idea (I knew about Moebius though)!

  • is there a way to crop. or trim a sample after it is imported in idensity?

Yes, if you click on that icon that i’ve pointed on the image, you can ‘zoom’ in and out around the waveform
