The brilliance of @dendy ! Yes, agreed
Totally. I was so confuse at first because of it!
I see now. Yes indeed that would be a nice option! My muscle memory has already kicked in but see where this would probably be the way I would like it too.
Ummm. Please don’t make beats while driving. Only listen to beats while driving.
Public Safety announcement over 👊🏼™️💕
I’ll meet u in the middle and put the car in ‘park’ in the drive thru and at stoplights 😂
Hahah...just looking out for you mate!
I approve of this message 👍 😀
In Ontario (Canada), they just put into effect a law that you cannot eat while driving as it is just as distracting as using your phone. I can remember years ago seeing people juggling food, coffee and a cigarette all at once. Then there were the women putting on their makeup while on the road. Scary shit!
I had NO idea that would work. I will test it for sure. Thanks!
@dendy AU midi recording workaround for iPhone with Midiflow also works with Audiobus virtual ports:
Nice!! I like that much better, especially since NS2 can be loaded in Audiobus too.
Well look who decided to join the NS2 party! A mixture of trap drums and Super Mario bro’s iconic sound fx for Slate.
It’s a free 32 sound kit available on http://iPadBeatMaking.com
@Janosax great, good to know, thanks !
I “bought” it, now how do I download it? No link on the site or in the email.
EDIT: just got the download email. Disregard.
Oh and thank you!!!!
Haha, epic! 😀
Curious if anyone has found a workaround for AUs that don't dispay the full window. I find that fugue machine is unusable as au on iphone in ns2, because the track bar on bottom cuts off the interface to play the tracks, and the UI doesn't scroll...
Hi, sorry if this has been covered but can’t find answer.
Is it possible to make user kits in NS2, if so how (any tutorials out there) ?
I’d like to load multiple samples at once...
Also, to any of the people Involved in the development of NS2, any idea of the possible addition of importing user wavetables to the synth?
Thanks
Yes, you can easily make kits in Slate. Here’s a slate tutorial, which is part of a large, very useful series
To save a kit, tap the hamburger, select kit and save.
If you want to transfer multiple files into NS, you can do that easily with either Files app or WebDAV from a computer.
User wavetables have been discussed and there are several alternatives for making something like that happen. Nothing has been decided so far. It’s a relatively popular request but it’s also not a simple addition.
The Nanostudio forum is the best place to find information, tips, tricks and share tracks, presets and kits. https://www.blipinteractive.co.uk/community/index.php?p=/discussions
Cheers
Well, updates may be on a “relaxed” schedule, but NanoStudio released as universal long before BM3 got around to it. Intua has been promising since launch as well, but launched way sooner.
I appreciate the care that Matt puts into making sure NS2 is as solid and reliable as it can be. Props
Why do people do this? What’s the point of comparing to Intua’s launch sched as opposed to just enjoying the NS2 update? What about the amount of updates BM3 received in the first few months of launch? No app has matched that mountain of updates. Is it fair to compare it in that respect?
But... but... audio tracks!?
😂
[j/k]
No, of course not. Maybe it was a misguided comment on all the post I see about NS2 that boil down to “where’s the audio?”. I guess I’m super chuffed that I can noodle on transit without taking my iPad everywhere, I apologize if I sound tone deaf to other development schedules.
I do feel that Beatmaker updates have slowed way down, but this isn’t the thread to reference that, I agree.
They have but (fingers crossed) are getting back. I’m super happy that NS2 lets me noodle on my phone as well.
@ahallam (any any other user who would try to start this obsolete BM3 vs. NS2 flamewar)
Intua had some internal issues which they solved and they (or he - if i correctly understand it is now single dev, Vincent) are obvious back on track. Recent update solved lot of issues and added for example complete MIDI clock in/out sync, which, to my knowledge, is available from all other existing iOS DAWs only in - BM2. So - great job. Promise is fulfiled, same way as Blip Interactive promise about iPhone version. Next milestones are ahead in both teams. Which is great.
I think Intua deserves respect same way as Blip Interactive .. they both are doing their best to satisfy customer, and just pure fact they are still staying in this undervalued desperate part of apps marked, is admirable ...
Of course, every of those app has some "missing" features and every has also hell amount of amazing features .. Both works perfectly if set of features they have is what you need for your production, so pointing fingers "your app is missing this and that" or "your app is not updated so often like mine" is a bit childish, please let's not go that way ..
People are often criticising host apps for crashes, but i remember that on desktop, most stable DAWs were those where i didn't used any external plugins :-))) Usually many crash-like issues are caused by thin border between host and plugin, or in the are where host dev doesn't have enough information to prevent problems before they really happen ... Users often think if plugin X is problematic in host X and not in host Y, it's fault of host X dev, but it's lot more complicated and may be not the case often ..
Even through i don't use BM3, I fully respect Intua and i very much respect most active BM3 testers like @tk32 or @hansjbs, they are doing great job to help users to improve app experience and dev to improve app ...
Both of our communities can respect each other ! We are too small drop of iOS apps market ocean to have local wars here, we all needs to hold on together and support literally every one iOS app developer to the hardcore level :-)
I second this message well said @dendy . Let BM3 be BM3 and let NS2 be NS2, they both can coexist. Some people will always complain it’s part of the game. iPhone support is huge in my opinion but people still complain about audio. It will come. BM3 is more stable and added midi clock/sync and people ask for iPhone version
. The Intua developers once said that NS2 and BM3 can be great companions and I agree. No more Vs no more this can do what that can’t do just make music and have fun. People are doing that with these apps as is.
Hmm, it's a discussion forum. Uniformity of thought and expression would make for a pretty boring forum, yes? NS and BM already do coexist. Expressing that one update has more value than another is what a forum facilitates.
Regarding audio tracks, isn't recording to a Slate pad an OK workaround for now, because you can 'play' your track while you're recording to a pad in order to get the timing right? Obvs not as speedy as a dedicated audio track, but is there an issue with this method besides it taking a bit longer?
Some people don't like fact that for longer wav, if you stop playback you need revind to start of node to hear it again.. for this reason i use rather Obsidian, with sample offset automation, which allows to run playback even from middle of long wav file with instant sound, plus it adds possibility of simple "fake timestretching" which already saved by back few times when i wanted to change tempo of track on which i was working
Additionally, there are people who would like simply waveform directly on timeline .. this is also understandable. For example for cutting it to smaller pieces and rearrange directly on timeline.
Matt is very much aware of audio tracks demand - that's why it is top prio task at the moment
Yes, I agree. I miswrote, and wasn’t trying to start any flame war. I own both apps, and appreciate the things each does well.
