I couldn't disagree more. The UI is by far the best I've ever seen for an iPhone DAW. Comparing to something like Zenbeats, there's no comparison.

I couldn't disagree more. The UI is by far the best I've ever seen for an iPhone DAW. Comparing to something like Zenbeats, there's no comparison.

I think it’s just a matter of muscle memory. After using NS2 on iPad since it came out I know what to look for so the phone interface makes absolute sense. It has that NS1 smoothness - a tap or two to get anywhere.

I would say hang in there with iPhone version. I prefer it to the iPad version which I rarely used. On iPad I want to make a whole song and not be bothered by a bunch of workarounds so my workflow misses audio tracks and sample editing tools. On iPhone, not so much.

I find bringing audio into slate or sampling right into it a small compromise to work in such a polished environment from a phone. I can finger drum on slate with just one thumb holding my phone as if I’m texting. Beautiful.

I’m in the barber chair right now designing patches on obsidian that I’ll later sample into BM3 via AB3 and complete later in Bm3, Zenbeats or Logic.

I would agree with others, just hang in there. I used NS1 a lot and it was crazy, as soon I booted up NS2 on my phone, it was like I never stopped using it, and I also use NS2 on iPad. Let them muscles do their thing and you soon won’t know the difference, IMO.

I still always remind him be careful not to push my line back which he lovingly always responds to with “F*%£ you bro.”lol

As far as music, it’s quite the opposite. They love seeing what’s possible. last week I bluetoothed something I was working on in Zenbeats to the HomePod they use in the shop and customer jaws dropped. “You did that on a phone?!”

Most people think it’s magic. We here at ABF the only spoilt brats that want more from these apps.lol

It really is. Far as posting music, I’ve never officially posted music under my name as I was a ghostwriter for many years and sold songs to hip hop/rnB/pop artists. Having my own music available was contractually as well as practically bad for biz. After awhile, i just became used to keeping it to myself or in a publishing catelog for sale.

I did release many tracks on YouTube about 10 years ago under various aliases just to express myself. Like this one I made and uploaded shortly after my lil bro passed. It was the last freestyle I recorded inspired by him at the time.

Nowadays the things I write and produce are much different. I’m far removed from the streets or city life that used to inspire and drive me.

That was a long winded answer sorry. Yes, there are plenty examples of my work on every streaming site and tons of videos on YouTube.

Thanks @gregsmith 🙏🏽. I was just learning to use an MPC to sample when I made that. I used to make beats to have something to write too. Now I’m more focused on the production side and don’t write much. Funny how life goes in seasons.

More value to that forum member. It has to be personal and I don't think the person who posted about NS2 update being more valuable was saying it pejoratively. I very much read the context as "the NS2 update for iPhone is more valuable TO ME." It's a discussion forum; I think that's a legit statement. When I say I like vanilla ice cream more than chocolate ice cream, I don't mean it as a slight against chocolate ice cream or against anyone who prefers chocolate ice cream.

Alright I don’t want to do a back and forth because it would hijack the thread (and I also think you’re great), but this is more like a group of people in a shop that serves ice cream where one group is talking about chocolate and the other about vanilla (even though on any given day they may enjoy either) and the vanilla lover goes to the group talking about chocolate unprompted and says “yeah but this vanilla flavor was made with better ingredients than the chocolate.”

The poster already clarified what he/she meant and admitted it wasn’t necessary to reference BM3 in this thread. The poster didn’t mention mention the value at all even. Just said NS2 got to it way sooner. I believe comparing features is warranted. But this isn’t a thread about comparing features. So it becomes distracting and non-constructive in this context. I don’t think anyone should encourage thought uniformity or avoid comparison or not be allowed to appraise the personal value of an app. This was none of the above. Just want to reiterate that.

Is it possible to have external midi going into more than one instrument/track in NanoStudio 2 simultaneously? Eg could you have Fugue Machine (running as a stand-alone) be driving 4 different instances of Obsidian?

And if so, where do you set the midi settings/channels up in NS2 to assign them to each track?

Any help appreciated.

Are you kidding me?! Wow. Very humbily accept your kind words. Thanks!! Common is among the few people I’d be excited to meet. He’s just dope and most definitely a pen I always looked up to.

There are things I’ve written and produced available on streaming sites but I’d prefer to be known around here by something more reflective of who and where I am now. It’s an amazing time to be alive and my love for music and desire to create has been raging recently. Knowing you’re interested in hearing something is added motivation. Hopefully I can upload something enjoyable shortly. I still suck as bad at mixing now as I did in that track I linked tho.lol 😩

That was really just a rough freestyle track with no mixing. Top of the food chain Ent was my publishing company. Never uploaded much. Luckily got snatched up by an established outfit rather quickly after moving to Buckhead. Pictures of me traveling from NY there are in that video ending with me at Magic City skrip club.lol. I got signed there the night that pic was taken.

I’d say 90% was luck. Right place right time, but I was prepared for the shot. Just got out of prison so at that moment I could rap a weeks worth of conversation for a hot plate of BBQ.lol. Hungry ain’t even the word. Got an oppty to rap for DJ Toomp and that was it.

Atlanta happened to be hot as a firecracker at that moment and the rest is still happening so not exactly history. If you have any ounce of musical talent and love hip hop it’s almost like you have to try NOT to be successful in Atlanta. Even today.
