Will do. Is the support email address in the app? If not where can I find it?
yes
Wishing I hadn't sold my LCXL now
@leehu In the spirit of your willingness to add some LCXL functionality, I have ended my trail and purchased the IAP! I would indeed love to join the beta and contribute to speeding up the batch editing process. Email has been sent. Thank you.
Tried to map midi trigger patterns in xox with the Lcxl using Midisynth control but no success. It is possible to use my second iPad just for mapping, since my usb hub won’t work with the twos?
Never triggered patterns in xox through midi...what settings are you doing with your setup?
Is this already implemented?
Excuse my complete ignorance on the subject but.. what advantage do we have with this midi layout support if you can already midi map parameters on the apps that supports it. On AUM for example.
I don't see the point. I would happily buy the xl support if I knew there was gonna be a plus on my workflow.
The main reason is you can customize the settings on the device without using a PC. Also, if you use multiple midi devices, the midi cc are often similar and overlap, this way you can customize each device to be unique.
I was not able to connect the lx with the app...my hub is not allowing it, I guess...so switching on and on to map something else is not a solution... wonder what kind of connection you guys have with it? Do you use another iPad, iPhone just to have that direct connection with it? No hubs involved...
Literally got mine earlier today and I've already bought the LCXL template.
I bought the app a couple of hours ago and tried to make a mapping on my LCXL. The problem is that some batch sends doesnt work or my LCXL is broken... the main control pads on the right side (record, solo, etc..) went all to channel 1 note 0 and refuse to be modified. I know because of AUM show me the same note for all of them.
I just send an email to @leehu to see if he can help me with this.
So could I theoretically store 4 user presets on the LCXL and:
1) recall them live (by paging through them like normal) or do I have to have the app running?
2) use the presets on different channels but same ccs
What are the advantages/disadvantages of this versus keyStage (which seems to be a midi editor/expander for creating keyboard zones, patch changes, and presets)?
@Vlad11 I am experiencing the same issue with the LCXL; the nav style buttons can not be assigned properly, they keep reverting to something weird. It’s not your LCXL.
@leehu please let me know if you need any additional info to reproduce this, or any help testing an update; I’m still in the beta program but didn’t notice this till now. I’ll keep an eye out for any updates.
Apparently it is not the LCXL. I used the template 3-day trial and all the side buttons went to ch1/note 0, and could not be changed. Thought it was a trial limitation so I did not purchase the MidiSynth Control template. Used the Novation editing application on my MacBook to set the template to the factory settings. (The Novation software is 32-bit so it won’t run on MacOS Catalina 😤. BootCamp or VM options will work if you only have access to a Catalina Mac. )
Great news guys.
Lee seems to have fixed this particular problem with the new update. I did the beta testing and seems to work fine and as expected.
I am in my usual place with MIDI i.e. not a clue how to progress.
Just so I'm in the ballpark, can I only link to hardware that already has some kind of editing module? Also, can I use this to link my LCXL with synth apps on my iPad? Once I know the answers to those 2 questions then I can go and bang my head against the manual some more. Or put MIDI Synth Control in the "could be useful once my stuff qualifies" section.
I am stumbling around in the dark here but I think this is what MS-C does: I map the controls of the LCXL using MIDI learn from, say, Animoog into a User template on the LCXL. I then transfer that User Template over to MS-C, which stores it as a patch until I want to pull it back out of it. The utility of MS-C is that I can create control maps for all the apps I have that use MIDI, save them to MS-C and have them to hand whenever I need them.
Can anyone please confirm or deny?
Exactly that. You can store them inside the app (or even save it externally as a file) and make a recall whenever you want to use it. Not only for the synths that you have but useful for save different combinations of workflows too. It has lots of possibilities.
Appreciate your help. I never considered that it can be used outside of MIDI mapping, thanks.
@Vlad11 how many templates can I page through with the app running and is it any different of a number than the internal slots in the LCXL
There are a boat load of slots, 128, and you can select any of those and tap send to update the LCXL with that preset. So 8 stand alone inside the box. Another 128 readily available to access in MS-C, and the ability to save more to disk.
The biggest use case for me was that Novation’s Mac Editor is 100% won’t even launch broken. Without this app allowing me to program it from iOS, my LCXL would be crippled to whatever 8 templates I currently had on it. But also, when using the LCXL on iOS, if you need to change a mapping you can load, edit, and send templates on the fly without having to disconnect and go to a desktop, assuming you had one old enough that it could even run Novations software.
It really is a shame that despite how many things they’ve done a great job updating and adding features to, the LCXL is bare bones, has been ignored to the point where it might as well have been discontinued years ago now, and regarding the hardware, it has SO MUCH POTENTIAL. I wish they would release a customizable firmware update and open the machine up.
Anyway, MS-C saved me from having to replace hardware. That’s a pretty great app purchase.
You have yanked me off of the fence and into the yard with the pool party. Thank you.
Is there a patchstorage.com type place where we can upload our templates to?
Also, am I doing something wrong with Mood or the LC XL, because the onscreen layout of Mood's interface never changes but the MIDI that's mapped to the LC XL's knobs disappears from Mood whenever I change it's preset? @Daveypoo is this something you have any knowledge of?
@leehu thank you for the Launch Control XL support which is great ✅ on iPad.
Could you make possible to name/rename each control in a next update please?
It would be very useful 🙏🏼
I was looking for a Launch Control editor and I see the XL has been implemented but I’ve fiddled with it with no success. Anyone know an iOS friendly Novation Launch Control editor? So I don’t have to always pull out the old battle axe of a MacBook. Thanks.
Very true.
LPX shows up on my iPad m2, but not on my iPhone SE 2. Is this intentional @leehu ?
Are the LPX ports showing up in other apps on your phone?
Are you using the same hub and/or charger on both devices? Launchpads need a lot of power.
I should have specified that the LPX isn’t listed as a template on the app when you choose the buy/demo button. As to such:
The above is just a screen grab from the manual. But the green Novation LPX/Mini MK3 is listed on my iPad, but not the phone. (I didn’t over look the scroll arrows). This is all with nothing connected.
Coincidentally, I am having hardware problems. But I’m pretty sure it’s unrelated to the app missing an option to DEMO the LPX.
My unboxed LPX flashes pads, but won’t show as a midi device. I read on Novation to try different cables. My lightening adapter is officially Apple. So I’ll try a different USB cable between my powered USB hub next. I do notice the cable going into the LP itself doesn’t stay in well.
These things already come with firmware, right? I don’t have access to a PC currently to install the recently updated firmware, but this should work right out the box, right?
Use Components either via a browser or download
and run it standalone to update the LP X Firmware.
The LP X doesn't work with Midi Synth Control when it comes straight out of the box.
