@espiegel123 did, it already! Sorry guys, I wanted to do a short one, just an hour after posting, because I know how badly ppl want to get their hands on a new app, and didn’t want to keep people dangling.
@0tolerance4silence Ah, yeah, I know what you mean now about morph vs mix
He has always had a fantastic ear too!
Great work from an inspirational developer.
Yup, can confirm.
I opened it in AUM, it worked. Closed the session. Opened a new session, and it then had no sound. Closed the session. Rebooted my iPad. Opened new session, still no sound. Removed app from iPad and then reloaded. Still no sound. Tried apeMatrix, and no sound. This is either a bug or I am doing something very wrong.
Edit: messed with it some more and it’s now working. Not sure what the problem was. When in doubt, hit every button and move all sliders...
When reloading a project, ClassicFX doesn’t reload the way it was. All your modifications are gone and the output level is set to 0. So if you want to hear something, then you have to increase the output
That's weird, the beta was not like that. Contact the dev for sure to let him know.
Yep - that’s what happened. A bit odd that it opens this way, but good to know. Thanks!
Double post deleted.
raises hand for promo code 🖐🏻🖐🏻😀
oh it’s over i think 🤣
I can confirm three issues discussed, and have contacted the dev.
I consider these normal growing pains for a first-time AUv3, and do little to dampen my excitement for a new app from Igor Vasiliev.
At the very least the Morph slider should be exposed, but of course us apeMatrix users want them all 😀
State saving doesn't work in AUv3 (may be addressed by #1?)
No sound after restore?
After reloading host preset to repro issue #2, there was no sound. I had to change the preset within Classic FX to restore sound.
Instabuy! Thank you Igor!!!
On the no volume issue you have to turn the out put level up on each effect section when it first loads.
How much different is this from other multi effects apps? Igor is a wizard so I’m sure it’s pretty wild
Loving this so far! It’s much more tame and usable for my kind of music than I expected! (Expecting Daedalus kinda nutty dissonance)
There is real usable patches built in and I can’t wait to start tweaking more. Of course it’s all about that fader and I just had drambo running into classic into drambo FX!
I had 3 faders with massive sound warping capability on screen and oh, the possibility!
This reminds me of the Lexicon Vortex, which I owned long ago. I liked that thing but it was hell on the wrists, turning knobs around and around. This is cool!
Edit - I guess this has already been mentioned...
Carry on!
More than just "inspired by" - it’s basically a software emulation of the Vortex with a graphic UI and some automation elements added. The filter/mod/echo effects combinations, the A/B registers with morphing, the envelope follower - that’s all straight from the Vortex. Even a fair number of the algorithm names are the same.
This is not, to be clear, a diss - the original Vortex rack unit was criminally under-appreciated at the time, and I’m giddy to have a software version available. And Igor’s additions are great: the UI is beautiful, and the automated morphing is extremely useful. Can’t wait to dig in and start fiddling with the sequencer!
Excellent article, very well spotted. The key phrase for me is that the morphing effect is 'one that works best when performed slowly'. I really hope Igor allows slower morphing rates, because to me, even the slowest is often far too fast. Of course, once the AU parameters are exposed, we will have more control over this, but I also suggested that the in-app morphing fader could allow for more flexibility both in speed and in terms of how linear etc it is. And, of course, you can morph manually. I would defintely like to see a possibility for glacially slow automated morphs though.
Where is the best place to do this?

He has a Facebook too where you can message him
Igor writes: I plan to add all parameters for external use in AUv3 host. In the next update.

Title change please @Jumpercollins ?
Hm I guess that this was already buried on page 5 tells me what I need to know, but I’ll ask anyway. Anyone else find this pretty damn blah? Compared to his own other stuff, especially, which was great. I just spent a good chunk of time with this and my first thought after closing was ‘I’ll never use this again’. The chorus-y stuff sounds pretty crappy in my opinion.
I loved this a lot at first but I realized at a certain point that a lot of my initial enthusiasm was related to the interface and the anticipation of finally getting a long-awaited AU effect from a dev who has done a lot of off the wall stuff.
I think it is good at what it does, but it doesn't quite do what I was hoping / expecting it to. Sound-wise I've come to wonder how much it suits my particular tastes.
It is really on the tame side compared to Fieldscaper, for example. The presets are largely pretty traditional. You CAN get crazier stuff by increasing wetness, mod depth, echo level etc which are mostly set very conservatively. But currently, it is very difficult to dial in the echo rates etc in a musical way. It needs a bit of work, I'd say. So if anyone has ideas, do message Igor. I have given him a few suggestions already about these things.
I would still definitely see myself using an AU Fieldscaper more than I would use this, I reckon.
Yep, it feels like being nestled safely in a Soviet bunker, only this time, the USSR most definitely has inferior firepower
Not blown away by this unfortunately. The interface is great but I'm not getting really any desirable results. 😕
So does anyone like it?
I do. As mentioned earlier, I used to own Lexicon Vortex, and this is highly derivative. If you slow the bpm down, and use the slowest morph rate, you can get those long morphs which I am enjoying. Also, It might improve over time with some enhancements. He really needs to fix the no volume thing...
