Interesting that your idea is „not as musical as expected“... I am sure Bram will make this work though

I'm shure Bram comes up with something cool :) I was just trying around, as adding some fast dial-in preset scalings would make sense for the script and Mozaic offers lots of scale functions.

Excited about the pad tuning! Any chance the system could be generative like Rozeta bassline?

Edit: ye (me) of little faith! Brambos surely has something musical, useful and imaginative up his sleeve! 🥳

  • 5 stars. Done

  • 5 around here too !

  • Awesome! It’s mostly in smaller countries where it only has two or three reviews that a 1-star makes the app look really bad.

Of course everyone should rate it what they feel it’s worth, but in my mind 1-star means a completely broken app or a total scam :)

yo mr @brambos what are the chances of the note that the pad is set to being labled on the pad? rather than having to touch the tune button and pull it up on the display?
or even having the note displayed inside the tune knob circle?
i’m not musically trained haha and i look at other keyboards/scales to know what i need to set things too... basically i pull up a kb1 and set the knobs in mononoke according to the scale picked in kb1 but use the mononoke pads to perform

  • Thanks @reasOne i would LoVE that!!!

Oh and Bram, got my 5* for sure on German ground!

wondering if more waveforms or even samples would work as sources in the synth?

That wouldn't work well. The feedback works as a an FM-based mechanism. Anything more than simple-ish waveforms will very quickly devolve into screeching noise.

It's the reason why the individual operators in most FM synths are limited to sinewaves and other soft waveforms. You should really see the voices in Mononoke also as operators that work together rather than traditional voices of a traditional synth.

    B)

this is true. Triangle and Sine are mostly used in FM and waveshaping. Complex waveforms are mostly used as they are. With FM and waveshaping you get those complex waveforms from basic waves.

  • Germany, 5 points.

Done as requested and as it should be! Thanks for the kind reminder @brambos

  • Fuck 1 star review.
For me this app is the shit. It doesn’t do pasta but Incan survive @brambos

I do have to say that not having the note display on the same screen as the adjuster knobs on the phone is an uncharacteristically inconvenient design choice. I hope that does get addressed. Having the notes displayed on or above or below the pads or knobs does seem to be the best choice. I do like to have a reminder of what note I’m triggering as I play, and having to touch each knob to remind myself isn’t ideal.

I’m gonna have to take this down to 9.9875 stars at this point.

Yeah, this is a UI oopsie, but I'm sure Bram will fix it.

He said the app is not aware of the screensize. It’s just checking if the GUI will fit. Otherwise it’s cutting it in half - didn’t looked like he is going to fix this as I pointed.
But who is using the standalone anyway ;)

I would though put all my votes to the label the pads request

BTW. Would make a randomizer like in his other apps make sense here?!

Not for me, but maybe for others.

Well if we’re talking about putting everything in a single screen on phones: no that’s not a very realistic prospect. Phones quite simply suck in terms of aspect ratio.

But I have already put an extra label on the pads section for showing note names. Coming in the next update. :)

    👍👏😎

  • P.S. thanks for opening my eyes to a whole new way of expression in music.

    Sounds perfect to me 💥

  • I'm adding "Mononoke Pads" to the next update: a separate AU MIDI controller plugin for playing other MPE synths with Mononoke's pads (basically Mononoke in MPE mode, with its synth engine removed):

  • Now that is a sweet treat, good one @brambos 👍

    Very nice, thank you.

  • I like the note indicators on the knobs. :)

  • @brambos YOU ROCK!!!! Really nice idea!!!
And many thanks for the note indicators will really help using the beast in my workflow!!! Thanks, Sir!!!!

  • I’m also discovering that the pads are really nice with Spacecraft. I think I’m slowly becoming an MPE convert myself ;)

Whispering: mononoke is actually wetting my feet in regards of MPE. Never saw any thing desirable in it. Yeah, that slowly changes ;)

Would it be possible to drive Mononoke and Tardigrain at the same time using the Mononoke pads?

    Yep, already working here
