Yes, right now the plugin is agnostic of the device type. It simply tries to accomodate the available space offered by the host as efficiently as possible. I may consider adding a secondary tuning display widget for people who don't have an iPad.
Thanks that makes sense. On iPad it’s running fine.
Did you consider showing note value on the coresponding knobs? Maybe in a light grey so they don’t distract. Would be cool to know at all time what note which pad is ready to blow out.
Will there be international labeling of the GUI other than Japanese?
I'd like to have a braille option.
Or a world languages IAP for $50 since the market would be small.
The Japanese dominate this style of weird cultural artifact. This could be the first Anime Music App
so serving the Japanese first is good marketing to make this go viral.
Is there a forum member that could provide translations of the Labels please.
I do enjoy just fucking around in a clueless state. It's how I use most apps.
I RTFM as a last resort. I'd rather get a refund than being forced to do homework
to effectively fuck around. It defeats my workflow.
If the labels ARE defined in the manual... could someone make a video and read it to me with
clear, professional videos to support easy consumption of technical trivia? That way I can
ask more questions here for additional videos.
It produces some really confusing sounds. Probably the best thing ever for another 24 hours.
I scripted something to extend Mononokes expression possibilities
You can find the script at patchstorage.
The video was done with the old note-naming scheme - i adjusted the v1.1 of script to use the same note names as Mononoke v1.0.1
Just noticed this wee oddity in Auria Pro when testing to see what I could record in there...
Loving this synth and the other brambos goodies I Saturday night treated myself to go with it (kosmo and perforator). Sometimes get it to go from the lushest smoothness to the harshest nasty over a deep of the fingers, music for my soul 👌
Yes @_ki , this increases Monokoke's expressive possibilities a lot! Thank you very much for this very nice patch!
Soooo useful! Love the smart function, and a set of 4 tuning banks feels just right for extending Mononoke without transforming its spirit. Not sure yet, but I think I’m preferring mood/ambience on the x/y (the cutoffs have their own modulators already, and the ambience/mood knobs have so many sweet spots they are begging to be twiddled! But that was an easy tweak even for a scripting scrub like me. 🤓)
@david_2017 this also works... very well actually
@ohwell Nice idea to use mood/ambience for the x/y
I'll try to figure something out to make the x/y of the Smart Tunings for Mononoke script configurable - are there other preferences in addition to cutoffL/R vs ambience/mood ?
I can't figure out what the y axis is mapped to apart from volume..
The Y-axis is the volume relative to the initial velocity. Typically this will also affect the amount of feedback that will occur.
Yeah that makes sense, thanks.
A sonic poem I just made with Mononoke, Blackhole and AD Dubdelay...
That’s cause the Boards of Canada don’t want competition...
Seriously guys... It’s an honest question housed in a snarky post. I think Bram is build of hearty Dutch stock and can handle it... The tendency towards developer sycophancy here is sometimes kinda weird...
To answer op question...
The key to me is that it’s all housed in one AU, it supports MPE, etc. Plus bram really supports his shit, so it’s not going to be a dead-end.
Honestly, I’m pretty sure that at this point, inside AUM, there’s not a synth, sound, technique, creative or technical approach to making electronic music that I can’t pull off with all this shit I have... Same should be true for most regular’s here. But that doesn’t mean that a unique ui, or all in one solution is not valuable. Especially at this price.
So just say “fuck it” skip lunch and buy Monoke instead if you’re curious.
You’re new to the internet aren’t you?
So hoping @brambos will make the notes visible (even as an option) at all times. Since you save your notes with the preset they always different.
Here is my attempt to make something musical by taming the beast very hard
Fed into the magnificent app by @burns_audio and later into Blackhole. At some point I thought an additional filter would come it handy and added the AUM filter to tame it even more...
@reasOne yeah in AUM its working.i was speaking of the standalone version which I fired up on a silent place
Indeed. I think a lot of folks that talk about drone music miss out that gating and rhythmic elements, even if barely perceptible are really important. And perf is just about perfect for gating... don’t forget that perf can poop out midi cc as well, so while a gate bar is gating, the cc can then do other things with fx sends, filters, etc.
They are not Canadian! They were influenced by the awesome soundtracks to old 35mm filmstrip documentaries produced by (iirc) Canadian national film board. We would watch them in school.
Now you’re just showing off... 🤪
You just keep proving the drummer brain is the best brain...
Sooo about the IOS version of Hammerhead?
(Heh heh... look what I found... Damn... student email address... “glory days...”)
@MonkeyDrummer 👌
I have uploaded an updated version of the 'Mononoke Smart Tuning" script.
You now can cycle between 5 XY controller settings: Mood / Ambience, Left/Right Cutoff, Shape, Tremolo and Vibrato
Tapping the shift button cycles between these settings, double tapping the shift button toggles between ambience/mood and cutoff control.
Please don't let internet norms thrive here. I come here to read, learn and share.

(I really dislike Emojis but I'm getting the idea that some signaling is needed to
disclaim negative intent).
I’ve only had an hour or so with it so far but it was an hour well spent. Already worth the price of admission. Thanks for another great instrument @brambos !
we need a mononoke creation thread !
Maybe just post them here? There’s already like five or so different Mononoke related threads going! This one, the helpful dummies one, and some one-off individual creations.
How would you feel about it if somebody used Mozaic to make it chromatically playable with a keyboard? Did you anticipate that Mozaic might be used for that purpose?
Agreed @xraydash , I’m guilty of starting another mononoke thread but if we keep it in here it helps promote this amazing app
Interesting thought. Not as doable as you might think though.
To start with, there are only 8 pads, and chromatic scales are 12 notes.
Forgetting that for a minute and thinking only of 7 tone scales, one could send a cc mapped to the AU parameter knobs plus a note trigger for each key. But I fail to see the sense in doing that.
Mozaic isn’t magic. Can’t force apps to do things they specifically don’t allow.
Some more chaos // mononoke / Touchscaper / poly 2 / Digistix + more [warning cpu spikes]
Some SCORN type stuff within
