Thanks for the writing shed tip, Poppa!

Can you import audio files into your document???

If so, this would be perfect for me — and probably others!

Nope. Woulda been cool. I think I’m going to give it a try using it for poetry/lyric fodder

Writing Shed can import documents that were created using Rich Text (.rtf) and plain text (.txt) documents into all folders and web pages (.htm, .html), PDF documents (.pdf), and images (.jpg, .png) into the Research folder. You will only be able to make changes to Rich Text documents. Applications such as MS Word and Pages can save documents in RTF format

  • Perhaps the forum should push the developer to add audio import.

This would be so awesome for song writers who have tons of "bits and pieces" clips with partial lyrics that one could easily find at a moments notice.

I'm a neophyte when it comes to songs and song ideas when compared to the mighty @LinearLineman and others, but I definitely could see tremendous value in being able to have audio and lyrical ideas brought together in a single searchable file. 😊

I apologize in advance for getting off topic not once, but twice on a thread I have been diligent in keeping on topic. 😔

  • Totally. I think it’s a good idea, but not necessarily up for the pushing. I read the short manual inside the app and it shows you about, organizing, and tracking your written submissions for publication, seems like it would be a great app for a writer/journalist/freelancer. If you could get that to also track something involved with songwriting, say your music credits, or music submitted somewhere, or track your music on streaming services, or something related to music and songwriting. That be cool too. I’ll agree there’s potential here.

  • No worries, my life is off topic. Lol.

  • OmniOutliner is an expensive but very pro option for organising text and audio clips

I have svx and that’s a great giveaway. Svx2 uses their newer modeling and so it’s the one I usually use, but svx also sounds quite good.

“MIDIculous is one of the most amazing music learning tools ever created. Some software has the ability to slow-down audio in order to learn. Some software can display the MIDI on virtual instruments. Others can play video files. But by unlocking the Pro version, MIDIculous has the ability to load virtually any audio, MIDI, and video file to be able to change the pitch and the speed in order to learn any piece of music imaginable. The notes, staff, chords are all displayed using an amazing looking virtual keyboard. So from a video lesson, to a MIDI file, to an audio song, MIDIculous can slow-down, and re-pitch them all in one piece of software!

Furthermore, MIDIculous has the ability to play very special LMS and LMV files. LMS stands for Live-MIDI-Sync and LMV stands for Live-MIDI-Video. This is a monolithic file that contains both a MIDI and an audio file in sync. Imagine a teacher being able to sit down at the piano and record an audio and MIDI track. The teacher can send the student the LMS or LMV file and the student can learn from seeing the chords and notes on the virtual keyboard. Every thing is synced up perfectly, no matter if it is audio, video, MIDI or all of them together. Changing the pitch automatically changes the key and pitch of the audio. Slowing down the MIDI automatically changes the BPM/Speed and the video precisely. No other tool has the ability to do all three for maximum learning potential.

    Amazing Features:

    • Load MIDI Files (Go Pro IAP)
    • Slow Down Audio (Go Pro IAP)
    • Slow Down MIDI (Go Pro IAP)
    • Beautiful Virtual Keys
    • Set Root Key

The only VA polysynth AUv3s I have are iSEM and Kauldron. This looks like a nice addition for little cost, to give me just a little more variety for VA polysynth tones. I'm taking it on faith that it too won't take a big bite out of CPU.

I'm all for exploring new sounds but it'll be nice to have more of those comforting tones of yesteryear in my palette, as well.

Oh, good point, I've blindly assumed that most members here already have loads of AUv3 synths. If i had to choose again I would definitely go for Zeeon because it can cover a lot of ground and it's quite solid in all DAWs I'm using.

Tales of CPU greed scared me away from Zeeon. But I do have it in the back of my mind in case I ever feel I need to expand my VA poly options again.

Also Zeeon is not the one on sale right now.

It also seems to depend very much on the AUv3 host.
In AUM, 2 Zeeon instances already start crackling (buffer size 1024).
In Nanostudio 2, I have to run 7 polyphonic instances until that happens 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

  • Hmm..Interesting. I can not remember any session using Zeeon having any problems. Maybe needs some more investigation.

  • @rs2000 strange, never had a problem with zeeon.
