I kinda ignored OB-Xd because people said it's good but I wasn't feeling any of the demos until I found this one:

    so will probably get.

Nothing new in terms of sounds but indeed great keyboard playing by J3PO 👍🏼

The only VA polysynth AUv3s I have are iSEM and Kauldron. This looks like a nice addition for little cost, to give me just a little more variety for VA polysynth tones. I'm taking it on faith that it too won't take a big bite out of CPU.

Oh, good point, I've blindly assumed that most members here already have loads of AUv3 synths. If i had to choose again I would definitely go for Zeeon because it can cover a lot of ground and it's quite solid in all DAWs I'm using.

Tales of CPU greed scared me away from Zeeon. But I do have it in the back of my mind in case I ever feel I need to expand my VA poly options again.

Also Zeeon is not the one on sale right now.

    Poison-202 is very CPU efficient
    https://apps.apple.com/us/app/poison-202-vintage-synthesizer/id1145895278

It also seems to depend very much on the AUv3 host.
In AUM, 2 Zeeon instances already start crackling (buffer size 1024).
In Nanostudio 2, I have to run 7 polyphonic instances until that happens 🤔🤷🏻‍♂️

In AUM, sometimes LOWER buffer sizes solve the problem.
    I have no idea why.

Huh?? Interesting. I'll open a new thread for discussing this.

Hmm..Interesting. I can not remember any session using Zeeon having any problems. Maybe needs some more investigation.

Zeeon has always been one of the lighter apps for me but I almost never go above 2 instances in AUM so...

Is it on sale? Because this is a sale thread.

I only talked about OB-Xd because it's on sale, although I did contribute to the derail so I apologize for my bit of that.

I'm sure you meant to be helpful though, and I appreciate that. I'm just not in "collect them all" mode right now.

Good idea. Zeeon owners will benefit I'm sure and it's not on sale anyway.

Last OB-Xd post I hope... takes about 7-20% CPU in AUM, which isn't so bad.

thanks again for announcing it being on sale.

Nope, not the last one but this is a positive one so I hope it's ok. I did buy the OB-Xd and after some playing connected it in Midi-Guitar 2. Very good combo, so happy. I did use OB-Xd only and was mesmerized by the good response, so a lot of options left.

Still not the last OB-Xd post:
MrsChasteen is not the world's biggest fan of synths, but I was messing with it this weekend and she very surprisingly blurted out, “I really like the way that sounds!”

What did the $19.99 version do? Same as the current free version?

Or does all the functionality stop beyond the free 14-day period?

Great deal. Grabbed all the IAP last year. Hell of a synth.

  • I’m not sold on DRC, I don’t know exactly why but I rarely use it. I unlocked synth engine but don’t have any preset expansion packs. Out of the 4 IAP packs which one will make me use this synth the most?

  • Yea I know, I usually I catch it and don’t post those but this one must’ve slipped through. Thanks for the correction on that.

This is nothing more than what it says - a 14 day free trial, after which it will probably no longer function.

  • That moment when you go to buy the IAP’s, but restore purchases takes care of it for you.

😂 I know what you mean. I’ve started doing the same thing with Kindle books now. Trying to buy one only to be told I bought it in 2013. Or 2005. Or last week.
