Anyone else seeing the "Woodwinds" pack description in place of the one for "Drum Machine Classics"?

Annoying, as I’d like to know specifically which machines are included in the drum pack.

    Nope...
    Here it shows alright...
    Drumulator, Drumtraks, DMX, LinnDrums, TR-606, TR-707, CR-78, RX5, RZ1 and R100.

    Thank you!

Must be a bug, still showing the incorrect description here after closing & restarting.

@TimRussell, you are right about the reverb on the vibes. Even reducing reverb in effects to zero still leaves plenty. Could you post a sample of a sound font vibraphone? I fon’t use them but it might be time to learn how to.

Have you re-constituted your audio interface connections from the Kawai in Turkey days with your new
Casio? I'll bet that Casio keyboard has a nice Vibe patch. Sampling is a pain. Importing samples is also a pain. Do you have BS-16i? AudioLayer has an embedded VCSL Orchestra sampleset with an idophones Folder and it contains... (wait for it)... Vibraphone Hard Mallets, Soft Mallets and Bowed. Have you ever bowed a vibraphone. You have to do the accidents (#'s and b's) from the back of the instrument. A chromatic run can require the coordination of 2 percussionists. Write them a little "Flight of the Bumble Bee" solo sometime.

But you didn't buy AudioLayer when it was cheap did you? Now it's as much as a 2nd rate DAW. Audio Evolution Mobile Studio imports SF2's easily and sells you some orchestra patch sets. Auria Pro probably has a great Vibe instrument in Lyra and it imports SF2 and SFZ's.

Nanostudio2 probably has a free vibe instrument by now.

Do you Drambo? @rs2000 will build you one from spare physics theories.

Can we leave the fucking house yet?

I've had BeatHawk for years, but never really got into it.

I purchased Funk Drummer last night, and while I like the rhythms, I'm not a big fan of the kit.

Is it possible to run midi from Funk into BeatHawk (or another drum machine and use their kits?)

Or is it possibly to just export a midi file from Funk to mutilate as I choose???

    It accepts Midi In.
I don’t think it supports Midi Import, though.
At least, I can’t find it in the app, and it isn’t a share option in Files or AudioShare.

I got it cabled up into Korg Gadget once with a lot of trial and error.

You press the 5-pin MIDI symbol as I recall and a MIDI export page opens where you turn on
Notes Out and can select MIDI IN and OUT apps/ports (Network, AUM). Running the IAA in AudioBus 3 and plumbing the MIDI out to another support AudioBus MIDI app is probably the right way to do it but
if you can get the MIDI turned on and use "Network" you're 1/2 way there. Gadget support Network MIDI sources. The Gladstone Drummer app in Gadget is pretty good but I'm sure there are many choices. 4 Pockets Digistix? AudioLayer with a SFZor ESX24 imported Kit? Probably nasty disagreements over the notes for the various kit elements like General MIDI on channel 10 crap.

  • Damn, @McD !

Sounds like I need to upgrade my master's degree to a Phd In order to figure that one out! 🤣

And MIDI can be recorded in the step editor.

UVI support confirmed that standard MIDI file (SMF) import is not supported. That's a pity because the step editor is really good.

  • Be good if UVI updated it to allow more sound shaping options... when playing from a midi controller you cant even change the pitch bend range.

Thanks for the link. That site is . . , something.

  • Yep. Got some great stuff on there.
The Hohner Electra-piano (very rare but beautiful sounding instrument) is lovely, the Rocksichord is also pretty funky.

  • Do you know if it's possible to use BH as a sound module? I'd like many of its IAPs samples, but I would mainly use them live, stretching a little bit (maybe too much...) the app's scope.

It's pretty easy to use it as a sound-module (16 part multi-timbral). It also works quite well as an AUv3.

Thank you, just figured out the correct combination of settings to have full instruments on different channels. Works like a charm!

Quite easy, under Preferences MIDI/Audio uncheck everything apart from the channels.
This way it will behave like a 16-part multi-timbral sound module.

  • The two specific boxes that need to be unchecked in Preferences/Midi Audio for BH to be multitimbral are “Send to selected Pad” and “send Omni on Pad”. This is in the BH manual which can be easily found with a search.

I did exactly this. While the configuration works with them unchecked, they ease the selection and addition of different instruments/loops

No need to search: tapping the question mark or the app title in the top left corner opens the user manual. Or via the main menu: Help->User manual...

  • Thanks all

  • Okay Beathawk newbie here.

I'm trying to use Beathawk as a sound module.

It receives midi notes for each individual channel perfectly okay.

It doesn't allow for cc changes unless that pad is selected.
I've been trying to get it to receive cc 4 for volume control.

It will only adjust the volume per last pad selected.

Is there are way round this or is this a limitation of the app.

    Thanks in advance.

Have you played with the MIDI settings. It has been a while since I have done anything other than just send notes. But I do recall that it took a few different tries before I had things configured correctly for multichannel input to work as expected (i.e. independent of the selected pad). There were a couple of settings that were relevant. Sorry that i don't recall the specifics.

    Yeah, I have been.

It can accept midi notes perfectly fine, it simply
will not accept independent volume control
per pad unless that pad has been selected.

I really don't want to be running several
instances of BH when I could do it with one.

    Thanks for answering.

  • @CracklePot said:
    This needs AU multi-out.
It will become a one instance AU for me if it gets it, which seems way more clean and efficient

Having rediscovered BH and picking up a bunch of new sounds in the recent sale, I just want to restate how amazing this would be with multi-out! I need to tell them that...

  • I contacted the developers who got back in touch.

There is a fix in the next update for the crashing loop
that I've been experiencing with one of my projects.

    Good news I do believe.

Goodie, hope it will come soonish!

I'll just wait and see what they cook up. Trimming recorded samples prior to saving them is apparently not important to them.
Also I wish BH would send out midi when editing the patterns or at least playing the keys/pads, it only sends out midi when a pattern contains notes and only during sequencer playback.

It would also be nice to load BH to an effects slot to allow sampling when used as AUv3.

But then again I have plenty of packs installed so I'll just enjoy them for now :)

    I hear you.

I got some packs during the sale.
    They're sounding really good.

The midi side of things does need some attention I must say.
I've been trying to use it as a sound module
    and discovered some limitations.

Still, overall a very nice sound app.

  • Has anyone been able to build a proper kit with the Acoustic Drums iap?
I load it up and select the one that has all the drums and load it up to a pad. Then i go to pitch and play it but I can’t seem to find the high hats?

    Try F#1 and G#1

  • Thanks! Was using the onboard keyboard in pitch page but couldn’t locate the high hats. Will try.
