Poll: Who Should Make the Next Groovebox
I think most of us on here appreciate a good groovebox. It’s a fun way to sketch out some quick ideas, create some fun little dittie, and just jam away to kill the time.
I think there are some great devs out there who could put together a solid groovebox. Curious what you all think.
Who do you think should make one and why?

The best GrooveBox on iOS has already been made... just needs a great update.. Groove Rider GR-16..
Lum beat
APPLE
Interesting answers so far.
In saying Bram Bos because he has all of the pieces, just needs to put them together. I’m imagining Pure Acid but with Ruismaker Noir level drums, Mononoke pads, and Phasemaker synth. Make it multi-out and you have yourself one beastly app.
Not really a groovebox person (although I have GR-16 and the Bleass one) but I’ve noticed the Icegear demos always sound like groovebox kind of material - even though their synths don’t make obvious groovebox sounds.
So I voted for Icegear/Iceworks. I love their synths and I’d love to see what they can do.
I definitely agree that they could make something solid. I only have Lagrange but it is a powerhouse.
❌Groovebox
✔️Midi Looper
Drambo wasn't enough for you all? yeash.
bram!
No one because I need to stop buying them
@jimpavloff should clone Yamaha RM1x, mother of all grooveboxes with best sequencer ever made in any groovebox :-) Or Korg EMX. Or Octatrak !!
What if @j_liljedahl dropped one into AUM just because anything he codes is exceptional.
He could also set it next to AUM and I'm OK with that.
What if Ableton entered the IOS market with a little GrooveBox app like Propellerheads did and
then used to market Lite versions of their desktop cash cow?
How about Roland getting the StageLight team to make one and expand the IOS engineering team?
Roland Cloud for IOS? TB10-0-10?
Nintendo GruvBox?
Akai Force 4 IOS?
Elektron AUv3?
TeenAge Electronics "Widgetopia-Z"?
Apple "ShitHouse" with GarageBand Pipes? Running on the new Apple "PlayBox" gaming/music iPuck?
(Slow news day).
Igor Vasiliev. After Classic FX: Groovebox
@DukeWonder Any reason why you would favor a certain developer instead of a certain concept or design?
I agree with the comments about Groove Rider and Drambo, you could already spend a lifetime with these and still find new uses.
Or rather sit and wait for the next app to be released 😴😉
Who knows what Korg is cooking?
Drambo is already a pretty sweet and deep ‘Groivebox’
EMX => Groove Rider
I have both and what the EMX can do better in terms of routing & FX, GR-16 makes up with its 16 polyphonic tracks. EMX has no polyphony at all, just a few chord samples.
Octatrack => Drambo
I agree with the RM1x though, nothing like it on iOS!
joining them together inside Aum makes a groovebox.
check this amazing script and project by @_ki

I wish @jimpavloff would accept our feature requests and update .
we've been begging for simple things like Mappable midi mute for months
Octatrack < Drambo with synths and modularity
yessss, Midi looper is much needed.
My favourite "Midi looper" is Gestrument pro. I asked the dev to add a keyboard input
Do we need another...?
(I think I know your answer)
I'd love to see collab between brambos & kymatica
Dr. Ambo is a pretty groovy box. Midi control (in the works) will take it to the stage.
Hardware maybe...
I kind of already have a Bram Bos groovebox as I’m sure most of us do.
You just need to build it yourself inside AUM or similar host. :-)
What iWorks make this much better would be an addition to Rozetta that would basically be a 16 track song mode / clip sequencer where each region of clip has one of the existing rozeta sequencers as its editor. Each track would just spit out a different midi channel so you can connect up instruments in AUM fairly easily.
So if you imagine a ‘simple’ arrangement window with (up to) 16 tracks, each track can have cells/regions placed anywhere along the timeline and be looped just as any region in any midi sequencer.
That would basically be a BramBos MIDI only groovebox with clip launching and song mode pattern chaining.
It would be one plugin with the existing rozeta sequencers built in as a host obviously can’t host a host.
But it would be cool. And you could go well down the rabbit hole with multiple instances running...
I hope I’ve explained this vaguely coherently...
Would love to see a dream team of two or more top indie devs collaborate on a project together. (Maybe Bram and Dmitrij)
@klownshed What you're describing is basically a modular groovebox which is pretty much covered with Drambo.
I don't know if @DukeWonder wants a solution since we already have Drambo, Gadget, Electribe Wave, Groove Rider, Stroke Machine, iSpark, iMS-20 etc...
Maybe it's just about a new app no matter what?
For a solo effort, I’d love nothing more than to see a Grooverider 2, keeping the foundation and layout similar, just adding more oscillators and modulators to the synth engine.
Nope .. Grooverider was inspired by new Electribe, not by old EMX-1 .. i'm talking about old classic (blue one) EMX-1 .. for me it is WAY much better groovebox than new Electribe - no bugs, no polyphony stealing, lot better FX unit and more interesing synth engine .. and 16 bars pattern (compared to just 8 bars on electribe)
Of course GrooverRider is waay much better than HW Electribe - Jim improved everything what Korg was not able to make on HW, so i can imagine how amazing would be Jim's interpretation of (aready amazing) EMX-1 :-))))
Hm, yes, basically that's true :-)
Ok them.. please, somebody, bring me RM1x clone on iOS :-D
@dendy I'm saying this because I do own the old blue EMX-1 as well
Of course the hands-on experience is totally different but most of the synth and FX architecture is covered, a lot can be done with the Wavetable synth, really.
Just a different approach, and you only have to load such wavetables once.
I was trying to describe an arrange window for multiple MIDI cells.
Does Drambo have a clip launcher or song mode?
I may get it primarily for the MIDI sequencing if so.
I would almost certainly buy an auv3 multi track MIDI sequencer with clip launching and/or pattern chaining song mode. I don’t need another stand alone sequencer. I want something I can host within AUM. If Drambo can do that in an elegant way I’m in.
I have too many sound sources already. Which is the main reason I’ve not jumped aboard the Drambo-Wagon yet. I don’t really want any more sound sources.
I will probably buy Drambo one day anyway but for now I have pages full of apps I’ve never or hardly ever used yet. I should at least explore those first :-)
