Thank Wim...yes but i get double note...must be lk directly midi linked to aum..or?...its just on playback..when recording ....everything is good> @wim said:

Also, is it possible to use the melodic scale with an external midi keyboard? I tried rosetta scaler, but i cannot route it inside lk

You should be able to. Route keyboard to scaler, then scaler to LK. I don't see any reason why that wouldn't work.

  • yes ...always forget about the internal routing on Nave...disabled it and all is smooth. thx Wim

@sinosoidal: really impressed with how Matrix is now working - has become my go to midi editor in AUM. Wondering if you could make a small update to the Controller page to allow for assigning colours to the faders - makes it easier to see at a glance which fader is associated with which instrument...

Also if possible stick the bank select buttons along the top menu bar...

    Thanks for your feedback.

Color coding in controller could happen. I will had this to our long wish list and will try to implement it when the list is shorter!

  • This thread has become very long so maybe this has been up before but, as the controller is up in the discussion.... I would like to have it divided in to more channels. 128*4 controls to one channel is not gonna happen, not even an eight of that I guess. I don't know if it's doable, or if I'm missing something completely when it comes to the controllers purpose. Well, now it's said anyway. :)

  • @sinosoidal: I totally appreciate that you have a lot of other plans for you want to do with LK. I do have one other request for the Controller page - and that is to have the ability to set different channels for each fader/knob element, which would greatly increase the utility of this feature.

That is true. It has already been requested a couple of times. I will add this to the wish list as well.

Is there any way to disable midi thru in LK while recording ?
When recording notes/CC from Animoog in a sequencer you get the obvious midi loop when animoog is sending and receiving the same CC messages when playing from Animoog UI.
This doesnt happen in Xequence or in Photon which can disable midi thru while recording.
Any idea how to make this work in LK?

    Thanks!

Standalone or in a host? Which host. You have control over both the input and output destination in LK, and also in hosts. Some details of your setup would be helpful is pinpointing a solution. I'm sure there is one.

Animoog and LK are both in AUM. Animoog routed to LK in and out.
Recording notes works , but if you turn the knobs in Animoog while recording they jump all over the place because Animoog sends cc and receives the same cc back.
So the output from LK to animoog needs to be off. Which is fine for one take , but not when overdubbing.

LK has made some great improvements since the last time i checked.
I am still wondering why you guys not simply add a dedicated piano roll icon/window view to the left where all the other tools are and then just show all the relevant clip properties tools on screen instead of hidden in a slip and slide maze.
Sliding up and down to reach the clip properties and essential functions.
Sliding up and down until the end of time.
Its not fun, not efficient, very slow and can be fixed easily.

Please add a dedicated piano roll icon/window to make this app pretty amazing.

    Thank you! 🤟🏻

That icon cannot go to the left side as the left side is reserved to application modules. We could however add an icon to the bottom bar that toggles the piano roll.

There is no need to slide. If you tap left or right of the double equal symbol, the piano roll will fully open (or close). This goes for all similar panels, e.g. the CC editor

How do you repeatedly acces the note tools without sliding for example?

You never slide when doing something essential like setting a clip to 16 bars for example?

    Just wondering.

That icon cannot go to the left side as the left side is reserved to application modules. We could however add an icon to the bottom bar that toggles the piano roll.

That would help. A single button that toggles would be so much better than tapping top screen and bottom screen to switch. That would be very helpful and a great improvement for UI orientation.

I wish the bar settings would be on the clip zoom window, which doesnt really work precisely and takes lot of space.
Then move the note tools higher up in the list.
Selecting, duplicate, quantize is more relevant than setting keyboard scale in most cases. Or maybe an option to reorder them by choice.

    Thank you for considering.

is there any control over the chord/note randomization feature in the clip launcher/piano roll? randomization as a follow action is an interesting feature and it would be cool to set a scale, for example.

edit: yes you can, clip properties -> keyboard

  • We are testing version 1.9.3 with the following changes:

    • Added MPE support to keyboard module
    • Added fold notes, fold scale and fold notes to scale support (this can be found under clip properties, keyboard panel)
    • General bugs fixes and improvements

Thanks for the update, fold notes, fold scale and fold notes to scale support works really well 😊

  • Ahh, fold notes is awesome, great job!
BTW now just by adding an option to set names to notes in custom scales, Matrix will become a very elegant solution even for sequencing drums. Currently it's a bit cumbersome to guess wether C3 is kick drum, E5 is closed hi-hat etc. And even by having option to save multiple custom scales, you'd be able to create own drum mappings (e.g. for Ruismaker, Pure Acid, etc...). But that would be probably too much to ask for...? :innocent:

  • @sinosoidal: bug report for saving controller page settings - they aren't saved at all. Saving a patch and reloading has no effect at all for the controller page settings - this is for the fader postions, assignments and naming. ios 14.3 Ipad Air 3. Both standalone and in AUM.

This is indeed a nice feature to have.

Ideally we would select a layout from a list. We would need help from the community to identify the layouts!

I'm still not sure the cleaner way to fit it in the composer. Let me digest this a bit more please. blush:

Anything close to drum computer or Zenbeats for drum sequencer layouts would be amazing 🙌

  • I am using Lk way more often than Zenbeats...midi mapping external controllers with auv3's is still buggy inside zenbeats. I do like though, their sample content and synth engines...but needs improvements.

Apc mini with Lk is a breeze. plus i am using also the Midimix. It's a mini Ableton/ Push situation :) Love it! Thanks Imaginando! Full support here!

Since it works well, can you give a hint at what this means?

Is it a display contraction like in a code editor?

In the piano roll editor, in properties, in the keyboard group, if you select a scale and select the scale button, the piano roll only shows the notes in the scale.

    Example:

    Scale is F Aeolian

If you press the Notes button, the piano roll only shows the notes which contains midi notes.

Is it me, of is it difficult to just record to a clip? How do you do it, Thanks..

Looking forward to the ‘fold’ update.. nice..

With MIDI controller on current stable version it's virtually impossible, so it's not you, just wait for update 😉
