    When I am naming things
Keyboard pops up and then I can’t see what I am typing
Can’t the text field be at the top so that we can see ? Instead of in the middle

Yes, I’ve seen exactly the same on my iPad Pro 11 inch.

Make your keyboard float (longpress type-writer key and choose float, or split) and problem should be solved.

@sinosoidal I managed to enter preset window in a fullscreen state and could not return back:

It happens when you tap at the top right corner in the clip view.

Tapping there in the scenes view results in a crash. I can send you logs if needed

Nice catch. I am not going to need crash logs. I know what is happening. Thanks for reporting!

We have this problem on AUv3. On the standalone, the dialog goes above the keyboard. We haven't found a solution yet. Please refer to @Pxlhg workaround while it is not fixed. Thanks!

I tried out version 1.9.3 with a Novation Launchpad X and it looks like a really thorough integration, at least at first glance. I did notice one bug though: the clip color in LK does not match the clip color on the Launchpad. Since the individual clips are appearing as different colors (just the wrong ones), I think this should be relatively easy to fix! Let me know if you need additional help with testing since I have lots of different MIDI controllers on hand to test with.

We need to have a look at this. Thanks!

@sinosoidal : is it intentional that LK only registers one touch at a time? I've noticed but never mentioned that trying to start multiple clips at once by touching them at the same time doesn't work.

Confirmed. It will be fixed on the next version 1.9.4. Thanks for reporting!

  • Hi everybody.
I am trying to control Patterning2 patterns from LK. I use midi learn of Patterning to link a midi note to each pattern.
It's working when i hit a clip, but not working when i hit a scene on LK.
    Any idea what happens?

We are testing LK 1.9.4 with a new visual midi mapping system for song paramaters. This new system is activated in the status bar and highlights the mappable controls:

    • Track (Stop, Mute, Solo, Arm, Select, Volume, Pan)
    • Scene (Trigger)
    • Clip (Trigger)
    • Song (Play, Stop, Record)

Tap a control to get focus and receive midi learn. Double tap to reset the assignment.

With this new system, the previous way of doing midi assignments has been removed and you will lose your midi assignments state. Fortunately, this new system is much more faster to use and it shouldn't be a problem.

We have also been fixing several bugs that have been reported since last release.

Launchpad Pro integration is currently being done. Should be available on the next build.

As always, your feedback is highly appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Sounds great!

@sinosoidal, 1.9.5 looks very good so far, but instantly one more wish. Please also make the undo and overdub buttons MIDI learnable. A MIDI learnable quantize for all notes of the pattern in focus would be also great. This would be extremely handy when in a recording flow.

Thanks for your feedback. Undo/Redo and overdub are on our sight already but not yet implemented. Next build will have them. The ability to midi map quantize function is less consensual though.

Yes, midi learn is the icing on the already tasty cake.

For anyone with a Launchpad X tried to map ‘Capture Midi’ to LK’s record button (to toggle overdub). Assigning it from ‘Note’ mode didn’t work, but if I assigln it in ‘Session’ mode it works perfectly, even when I then switch back to note mode (which is where I want to use it).

EDIT: user error, Capture midi is now enabled by default as record on Launchpad X in latest LK beta. Hooray.

So it does, brilliant, thank you. I was so keen to try the midi learn that I managed to cancel the functionality you’d built in :) will amend my earlier post. This has made me very happy, a very slick launchpad experience now.

  • How many of you use Live mode when using LK as AUv3? We are considering removing this ability when using LK as AUv3. We would like to hear your thoughts.

I have used it but not super often. Assuming we could run the standalone app in Live mode while also running AUv3 instances (maybe having a button in the AUv3 to switch to the standalone app like some IAA apps do), I wouldn't mind, especially if it means we get extra goodies in the AUv3 >:)

The angle here is to avoid some really tricky crashes which seem to be related with this.

After seeing the latest announcements about the upcoming MIDI learn feature, I have finally jumped in and bought the Matrix IAP. I do like the agile way you are developing this application and are using the community to drive regular function updates.

Is it possible to copy notes or clips between instances of LK, or is the only way to do this by using shared presets? My use case is that I have a 9x11 grid of 4 or 8 bar pre-defined clips which I noodle into during a jam session and then select clips which I would like to keep for further use, using colours to remind myself which clips are to keep. I would like to copy just these "good" clips to a fresh LK instance. Can selected notes from the piano roll be copy/pasted between clips?

A few other questions that have come to me while using LK for the first time:

    1) Is there a way of quickly throwing away notes and starting a clip again? My use case here is that I am halfway through the clip and realise what I am playing is no good (happens frequently!) and want to try again. At the moment I need to click stop for the clip, click undo and then click play again. It would be useful if there were a (MIDI mappable!) try-again button which cleared the notes in the clip and reset the playhead.

    2) When I am done with a clip then I need a way of moving to the next. With my workflow I move downwards to the next clip in the track so that I can keep recording. If I touch the next clip onscreen then this works well. It would be nice though if the navigation buttons were MIDI mappable so I could hit a controller button then play and be ready to record into a fresh clip. Also useful would be an option to move to the first clip of the next track if I am on the last clip of the current track and disarm the recording of the old track.

    You can export/import midi from/to a clip:

To throw away notes in at clip, in the notes tool select "Del.All"

Hi, I've just tried to install LK in Ableton again, I haven't tried for a while, but the LK midi script is crashing Live for me. I couldn't find Ubridge from a direct link on your website, but Google found it, are there known issues with LK not working currently with Live? I tried an older version of Ubridge script and it also crashed.
I can appreciate the difficulty in keeping it updated at the same time as the iOS version expands though, so I can understand if the Live module is on hold for now. :)

What version of Live are you using? We have been fixing bugs regarding Live integration. Things that broke with the latest refactors. We are not having live crashes. Can you reproduce them sistematically? Does it happen with a new project or with an exististing project?

From my experience, it is very hard to crash Live. Usually, a control surface does not do that. We need all the info you can provide. Reach me by email or pvt message.
