    Can’t you just do it already now with LK? Instance one has your clips. LK Instance two is the master timeline that can trigger clips in instance one. The beauty of AU multiple instances.

    Instance one would have short looping clip lengths, and instance two would be set up with a long timeline length. With note folding it should be easy to visualize the timeline triggers.

    Haven’t tried myself yet, though.

    Good idea! I never think about having more than one LK instance. Not sure how you map the notes as triggers in the timeline one though.

    They are soon to release an update with MIDI Learn. In the instance with the clips, you’ll set up the triggers. In your instance that will send the triggers, you enter those same note triggers in the timeline.

    Nice!

    In stores now... digging in.. Thanks.

    Not yet where I am.

  • @sinosoidal midi learn is nice to have for hardware but it would be great to be able to assign values as well and not remove that feature :) most of the time I’m not using hardware with it. I see that assigning CCs/notes has gone from clip properties. Unfortunately midi learning from app to app is very frustrating.

    Makes sense. We will add an edit dialog window on cell double tap.

  • @sinosoidal That's great, thank you :)

    This is almost a good workflow! 😬
    I’m thinking the timeline would be huge, it would work but doing that in a piano roll would yield in super long sequences and not too obvious at first glance. I’ve done long timeline notes to trigger stems in Drambo sampler and it’s sort of a pain, a lot of try and miss to get the correct position.
    A better alternative would be a sort of song mode where you specify the clips playing in each part plus the number of loops before switching to the next. The downside is that loop clips can vary in length so maybe compromise and either make the longest clip define the length or count bars. In some form this is how DigiStix, DigiKeys and Zenbeats Clip mode do it... I wouldn’t want to resort to another app (atom) to do this. Song mode could be IAP, no prob. Just a thought...
    On a side note, and answering “who’s using LK in Ableton Live mode”, LK is getting so full-featured in iOS auv3 scenario that it’d make sense to make them 2 different products, even if sharing the same code base.

    Hey everyone! Sorry if this has been previously covered but at some point but I seem to have lost the ability to automatically record quantized midi notes based on the record quantize settings at the top of the app. I’ve tried changing the record quantize settings from “None” to all of the other various rates but it has no effect on the incoming notes recorded in the piano roll.

    Thankfully I can always use the quantize option in the clip inspector panel after the notes have been recorded, but I feel like it used to happen automatically based on the settings in the options bar at the top of the app.

    Has this setting changed? Is there another setting that I’m missing? Is it a bug? It’s also very possible that my memory is just bad and it never worked that way! Haha. Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice on this!

    Also... I just want to say that I’m absolutely loving LK. I’m so incredibly impressed with the amazing supportive developers at Imaginando and all the work they have put into this app! Thank you and keep up the great work! ✌️

    Your memory is not bad :smile: This used to work and I can confirm that it currently doesn’t.

    We need to investigate what is going on. We have probably broke it. :blush: Thanks for your feedback

  • @sinosoidal about the question about using lk with live. I personally never intended to use it for live. Now that the app is so full of features I think it makes sense to make the live features a seperate app as someone else already mentioned.

  • @sinosoidal Hi there, I just got matrix for use in AUM (no intensions using it in LIVE mode btw. so would be cool with cheaper IAPs just for AUM use).

    For the life of me, I cannot trigger the clips.
    I set up midi notes for trigger clip in the AUM channel settings. But it does not trigger.

    (It does nothing at all when testing the other parameters either. The 1 thing it does with midi control, is toggle arm track button for the track.)

    In the LK manual and also here it is mentioned, that there is a midi setting in clip properties. It is missing now. I only have settings for name, color, etc. and not midi.

    Please make a video showing how to trigger a clip in AUM (or is this feature it currently broken/ removed?). Thanks.

    It definitely works, though I never tried setting it up in AUM channel settings like you did.
    There is a new midi learn function inside LK that should make things easy to set up. Did you try using that?

    You are right. Assignments via AUv3 have a problem. I've already fixed it. My bad! :blush:

    However, as @branis said, you can also make midi assignments via UI. You just need to tap on the MIDI LEARN item on the status bar and all the assignable parameters will be highlighted and those are working.

    The documentation right now is inconsistent. We are not being able to update the documentation at the same pace we are updating the app.

  • Thanks, but I actually had used the midi learn already (tested both manually and with midi learn), but nothing. It detects the input signal correctly and it gets assigned, but midi signal is not affecting the trigger, start, stop etc..
    Would be great if there could be a straightforward way to trigger the clips in AUM, but great and very useful app regardless.

    The interactive midi learn is working in 1.9.4.

    Can you make a screen capture video and shows us what you are doing?

    We are adding keyboard layouts to 1.9.5:

    For the next build we have Ruismaker and Ruismaker FM. For more layouts we will need your help.

    We don't have all the apps you have, so it is important that you help us populate the data. We use JSON format to describe the layouts:

    "Ruismaker": {
    "49": "Kick",
    "51": "Snare",
    "54": "Clap",
    "56": "Tom 1",
    "58": "Tom 2",
    "61": "Tom 3",
    "63": "Hit Hat",
    "66": "Open Hit Hat"
    }

    Which keyboard layouts would you like to have available here?

    Drum Computer is very trick. It is possible to change the keyboard layout inside the app.

    Hello, @sinosoidal !
    Can we have an option to send midi message (note-on will be good I think) when clip is triggered? This can be used to trigger AUM FilePlayer nodes or whatever else. Note message can be sent from piano roll currently, but it’s bound to track’s midi channel. If we could specify channel for triggers globally in LK settings (“send clip triggers on channel X”) and use notes assigned with midi learn for clips, that could be neat.

  • Double tap to ‘select all’?

    This is great :) will we be able to edit a json file to add our own custom names?

    Sweet! I wonder if @_ki already has mappings to many drum apps in one of his Mozaic scripts, if I recall correctly?

    No, not for now. At the moment it will be hardcoded into the program.

    PATTERNING +1

  • There is a drum remap script for Mozaic on patch storage which will include the midi notes for different apps.

  • @sinosoidal This is a good idea! Did you want only the mappings for those parts of the kit in your example JSON or are you happy to include any combination of note and instrument?

  • Please add General Midi drum notes so there is at least one option we already know the midi notes

  • Amazing! Custom mappings are next level!
