Last update from Blueveek is here:
    https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/comment/913130/#Comment_913130

He is taking some time off work this month to get Atom2 finished for release. He hopes that will be enough time.

The good news is that all the fundamental stuff is already done.

@NimboStratus @Jeezs : you don’t have to have anything to do with Ableton to use LK, it works absolutely fine as an Ableton-like clip launcher/sequencer all on its’ own just on iPad. It’s very powerful, if a bit bit head scratching at first. You’ll need to buy the Matrix IAP if you want to do anything useful with it, but all the others are optional.

LK also has Ableton export so if you do use Ableton you can start on iPad with midi then export and continue on desktop using LK to trigger clips, it’s a nice workflow I’m starting to use a lot more.

I don’t have Ableton only Logic but don’t use my desktop anymore except for programming or as a home server

    Getting a lot of pings.

So, here's the latest: I took a few weeks of vacation from my main job this February to do a big sprint and try to finish the Atom update. I hope it's going to be enough.

This is great news! Thank you for everything you’ve put into it!

I don't know if it's GREAT news...just gives me an excuse to not start too many projects! :) Or, damn — maybe I need to learn LK in the interim!

In all seriousness, this is wonderful, and I've been the earliest Atom champion; this app has singularly changed how I make music.

LK is proving an awesome distraction tbf

(Don't want to run off topic too far, but how tricky would it be to convert an AUM session with a bunch of Atom clips into an LK session? Meaning, can I record the midi patterns in the Atom clips into LK and then change the midi routing so LK talks to the various synths?)

I think the most elegant way of doing this is to use Ableton session files as an intermediary file format. I am planning to add an "export to Ableton" save option (as an alternative to MIDI exports and Atom session files formats), but likely after 2.0.

i will love you forever if you do this. but that can wait long after the main release. midi export will be enough in the internim :)

Definitely agreed with this. I'm constantly tempted to add "this one little last thing", instead of kicking this out into the world. Just the other day I was chatting with @tk32 about how "merge layers would be cool", and I almost got sidetracked into implementing it.

Related, yes, for those who asked, the latest status is that I'm starting a few weeks of crunch to finish the automation/ CC editing panel, which was the last piece in need of some polish before release.

This development cycle has been incredible. Almost a year and a half in the making!

  • it’s OK @ExAsperis99 ... I’ve promised Blueveek I won’t make any more suggestions until post release, and I’ve been distracting myself with Drambo again instead this week.

Speaking of “take-aways”, my take away from this is that it’s going to be at least a few more weeks before we can play with this marvelous creation.

  • Is it near, the release? To be honest, just can’t wait!

  • All the usual suspects have gone quiet. It's unnerving.

Maybe it means the dev is heads down working and not being distracted?

Dev is working hard. I spoke with him briefly today.

And -- unlike CD Projekt Red -- he definitely does not ship incomplete code.

Did he cut his goatee? Did he get vaccinated?

  • To be fair, I blinked and February was over already

  • My heart started racing when I saw this thread had unreads.

    False alarm again folks 😂

  • A cynical person would think that this is a marketing campaign or worse still ‘vapourware’.
As an Atom user, I hope to be proven wrong.

    Hi.

    Help me out :)

I have this vision for how to properly do fully (and I mean fully) modular automation, and it's hard. There's quite a few moving parts, and I won't ship something that's incomplete: it needs curves, it needs transforms, it needs interpolation, it needs user programming, it needs accuracy, it needs performance, it needs to work standalone. It needs to be at the same polish and depth as the rest of the features in Atom.

As it stands, even after my crunch in February, it's still not there yet.

    So, you decide:
    1. Ship now, with no automation, but with all other features planned for 2.0 finished. It's pretty much 99% the December build.
    or
    2. Wait some more. I honestly don't know how much longer.

If we go with (1), I'll make the current build the final build. In store hopefully within a week or two after that, depending on Apple. Automation will ship later, once my life settles down a bit. If we go with (2), I'll keep working on the automation features until I get them the way I want to.

I'm happy with either approach. I'm not in a rush for income, I don't want to keep you waiting, and this doesn't really affect anything: in the long term we'll arrive at the same thing :)

Now, I really mean it when I say "you decide". I'd like to gather your thoughts for the next few days and whichever the outcome is by the end of the week, that's what's going to happen.

  • Victor:
    desigur ca (unu)!:)
    multumesc.
