  • It’s so strange that I can’t find that UGREEN adaptor @Gavinski has. I don’t really need it yet, but it seems odd that it wouldn’t be on Amazon, Tetu, eBay, or even the UGREEN site. At least, not from here in the U.S.

    Strange! Maybe email ugreen?

It's the same scenario here in the UK so far, too.

…There are better cheaper solutions for noise canceling headphones. They do NOT have mic’s worth mentioning. It’s a different market emphasis. Noise cancelling is great for sleep aids, airplane travel, factory noise abatement. All situation I wouldn’t be making recordings as a general rule. But for a walk in the woods to capture the call of the Breaded Bleak Nosed Twit this is your jam.

Cheaper solutions? Cheaper than $300 or cheaper than $45??
If the latter, surely you speak of passive noise cancellation, and not active.
    Am I right, KID?

You are right. What are good options for noise cancelling… I’m afraid all my music will be detected and blocked.

😂 I can interpret that a couple ways.
    Well played, good sir.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a pouch or case for the Ambeos?

I got this in January and it held up great so far.

Ah, I have this exact same case in my Amazon basket at the moment, wondering if it will fit the Ambeos okay, not too big, not too small. Great to have some confirmation that I'm looking in the right direction. I can keep them in my tiny backpack at all times so I have them handy.

    Thanks for the confirmation!

  • @andowrites I made dead hamster for my zoom out of fake (synthetic)fur samples...
Looks like a glam rocker now!
You could I guess make similar dead bumblebee or similar for these, I have used a neck muffler over my ears when out recording, helps a bit with some wind noise.

  • Anyone still using these for field recordings? Can’t decide between this or one of the iOS mics from Rodes or Shure.

  • Definitely, as you know, still using it. I think few people who have bought the sennheiser ambeos at the current ridiculously low price have regretted it! Both audio quality and mic quality for binaural recordings are excellent. Build seems a bit cheap for the original high price, they don't look or feel expensive by current standards, but you can now get them for peanuts and someone like you would get great use out of them I think

Yes - still use them. The main attraction for me (apart from the quality of the recording) is that they're discrete - ideal for guerrilla recording in coffee shops and such like. Not sure if there are many bargains on new sets left, at least in the UK - maybe they're all sold out now. A few used and some very high priced new ones on ebay but nothing on Amazon any more.

That's unfortunate, I think they all sold out around that last time we had an active discussion about them here and I made a vid on them, because I remember quite a few people mentioning they were going to grab at least one set, some grabbed two or three

Good news...! If you need an adaptor for USB-C make sure you get this one by Anker - they came in 2 versions and it sems like the white ones are more likely to be compatible with the Sennheisers

Ah yeah that wouldn’t be useful for using it with the iPad huh? 😂 I usually do most of my field recording on the iPhone luckily, and then transfer to iPad. But that would come in handy if I’m taking my iPad to the park or somewhere and want to capture ambient noise. Thanks!

I would really recommend the dongle with charging port I got. I posted about it several times earlier in this thead, but forget the brand etc now and don't have time to search through - it is there somewhere tho if you or someone else needs it!

Nice one... The ambeo is very light and the cable on this is very sturdy, I don't worry about it being bad for my usb c port!
