  • He actually meant that BM3 audio engine is heavier than loading the same AUs in AUM (or AB3 in my case)

Yes, the basic footprint of BM3 is larger than AUM - which means you may be able to squeeze 1 or 2 more plugins into AUM before maxing your DSP. Though that doesn't surprise me, esp when you consider that every BM3 bank is also a fully-featured sampler.

    Does Dropbox work again ?

I still get a ‘too many connections’ error in the dropbox part of Bm3. Reinstalled both dropbox and BM3 and the native dropbox app works.

Doesn't work here, just continually scans, sad stuff.

The native dropbox app also doesn't work?

FWIW, the DropBox APIs in most apps were added in the days before the Files app. They API is much less efficient than using Files and the Share sheet. Dropbox can be made visible in Files. I’d suggest getting things to/from Dropbox using Files or the Share sheet rather than any app’s built-in DropBox support.

  • Also Dropbox changed so now They limit the amount of places you can log in if like me you're using the free version. It doesn't work for me neither but using files app and uploading from there to dropbox works for me.

  • So true.

re: Dropbox, tap the link below on a desktop web browser, scroll to the bottom, and remove the 'Devices' you don't use. Cannot be more than 3 with a free, aka 'Basic' personal account. It also helps to have the Dropbox app installed on your iPad.

  • rediscovering this after the last update. forgot how fast it was to lay stuff down.
also wondering will bm3 ever make it to iphone?

  • also, can you send audio into this from Aum?

  • @eross said:
also, can you send audio into this from Aum?

Sure! And it's reliable, in my experience.

    • Launch BM3
    • Launch AUM
    • In AUM, change the audio output of your channels to 'IAA/Audiobus Output' > 'IAA Output X'. Photo 1
    • In BM3, create X number of new BANKS (with X corresponding to the number of IAA audio outputs being sent from AUM). In each BANK, load the IAA 'AUM (Port X)' as an IAA plugin. Photo 2
    • In BM3, create X number of AUDIO TRACKS. Set the AUDIO TRACKS Audio Input to the corresponding BANK. Photo 3
    • Enable Ableton LINK with Start/Stop for both apps.
    • In BM3, hit record. The audio from AUM will be recorded to BM3's AUDIO TRACKS.

    cool thanks

  • one more question. i recorded an acoustic guitar on one audio track into aum. set it to loop, then i made another audio track and went to record it . but when i did, the first audio track muted, untill i stopped recording. i’d like e to here the first track play back in real-time so i can jamb along with it on the second track. is there a setting i need to change?

  • Be sure to change BM3's AUDIO TRACK input to NONE after recording from AUM.
Be sure to mute BM3 BANKs (or unload the AUM IAA plugin) after recording from AUM, except for the track you're jamming to.

  • Wow. Did you all know that you could save your favorite AU synths with their respective patches and sequences to your Bank Presets so you can open them later in other projects? That’s so cool. 🤯🤪

Yes, bank presets are IMO the best thing on BM3. You simply store the instrument (wether it’s AU, multisample, etc,...) together with effects, macros AND notes, automations etc...
Whole musical idea encapsulated, ready to be reused.

Yep. Lots of gems in BM3 that most are unaware of.

Thought that’s been there for a while..,somewhat like Maschine, Or maybe I misunderstood..?

Edit.. using the scale feature with this is great too..(quantize to scale)..

  • I love discovering old tricks in software. 🤪

@tk32 everything running super smooth with latest update on my good oldAir2 & ipad Pro 1st Gen 12.9 . Dropbox at first was bit weird but I pressed the Refresh tab in bm3/Dropbox , works perfect. Excellent new Duplicate tracks. Colour palettes no issues. Thanks to the devs & beta team. If bm3 gets to iphone eventually there really will not be much competition in iOS DAWS. Already bm3 still proves to be King in full sampling DAW / Workstation :) Export stems working perfectly too.

  • @tk32 still would like the option to have Autosaves in Settings. Can this be in an update?

autosave works a little bit differently now that the unsaved sessions folder has been retired - but it's still there, and will create periodic autosaves for you inside your project directory.

Intua is working on this as we speak. No ETA, as it appears that some code needs to be re-written.

@tk32 yes I just discovered its still there Cheers.

    Hopefully a complete re-write :p

I tried the AUM trick but searching on BM3 IAA effect there is no AUM . Am I missing something?

  • @Korakios Launch BM3 first. Be sure the 'AUM (Port X)' IAA plugin is loaded to Pad 1 in a Bank. Add an Audio Track, have it's input be the appropriate Bank that you set up earlier. But it's easier to just record the stems in AUM and export to BM3 using 2x Files App in side-by-side mode.

Why re-write it? That just sounds like a waste of time. Seems like they need to write something different. (read in the voice of Norm MacDonald)

  • Is there a known bug list with work arounds to prevent crashes. With the improved autosave, I'm really looking forward to getting into this. All the videos on YT is literally why I got into iOS music production. Seems like the only DAW with midi learnable transport controls. I've played with it a few times since the update and just closed the app to test the autosave. Seems to be working well. My biggest fear has been getting deep in to something, the app crashing and losing all that time. This seems a lot more interactive and intuitive than C3. And I'm loving the live looping functionality. The pads and the roll feature set fire to my heart. Really wanting this to be stable and regularly maintained.

Thanks! it works fine in AB3 too ,although I get some dozens of midi ports in BM3, more than 50 ports of the same AU (model D for example)
