Yeah, I received a free Ownhammer Mesa 4x12 IR back in the day, and it's really great. Now I'll be purchasing more this weekend!
After lots of carving and routing, my monster strat is ready as of yesterday, and it is a thing of beauty. Sounds unbelievable through my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe. It took a little while, I filed the new nut too low and there was no clearance at the first fret, so I had to rip out replace and refile a new one. Had to tighten the truss rod a lot and wait a few days, but she’s adjusted and intoned and ready to slay. Mojotone Quiet Coil ‘58 pickups with hot bridge and all the fancy pots and switches, Callaham stainless steel EVERYTHING, even the trem claw, totally decked, Hipshot locking tuners 21mm non staggered, Tusq nut and Tusq string trees, love them!
I haven’t gotten to the IRs yet but I will this weekend. I did notice some of the Overloud amp sims improve with single coils. I was initially disappointed with the licensed DVMark amps but they sound really great with a strat. My favorite rigs more or less remain with both guitars, but a few rigs really opened up with single coils. That’s all for now...
Besides the rEvolution bundle, these are the ones I currently have, so if anyone is curious about a specific one, taking requests lol...
Now considering a few more on the sale page, maybe some different ones to complement what I already have, but really not sure I need them. Too many to go through as it is...
Nice problem to have!
Any recommendations for a an IR loader on desktop?
I would expect Desktop DAWs can load IRs themselves. Certainly desktop versions of Nembrini and Overloud can load IRs. I don’t use desktop so have no recs, I’m sure someone else could chime in...
I was thinking something dedicated. A vst, something like recabinet so multiples can be used.
Might want to try this, @Ailerom:

I think many DAWs include an AU or VST to load IRs (in Reaper it is ReaVerb, I believe). There is a Max for Live convolution reverb. Logic has an IR loader, too. I think there are also free IR loader AU and VSTs out there that people use.
There are just so many, I wouldn’t even know where to start recommending. What @SNystrom just posted looks intriguing. There’s one from Two Notes, Redwirez, many others. Logic Pro has its own IR loader called Sound Designer. Then there’s others compatible with Pro Tools.
Not what you’re looking for, but worth noting that desktop Nembrini can load up to 3 IRs at the same time that can all be mixed and panned together.
@SNystrom, thanks that's worth a look. 3Sigma also have one that looks good.
Yeah, I haven't tried it, but another member posted it in a previous thread. Having all that control over eight separate IRs in one app would be intriguing.
I think that was me. I have Libra and it’s really good. I bought it kinda accidentally in a sale (you know how that happens) - don’t use it all the time but sometimes it’s great for finding an in between sound.
I also use Gig Performer and using Libra means you can switch cab easily while keeping everything else the same.
That sounds really handy!
Are the IRs panned as the ui implies?
So I bought the R/evolution pack. Which files do I download for IMPULSation or Thafknar?
GAS GAS GAS (it has a buffered preamp line out sans cab for direct into daw recording, you can use IRs) GAS GAS

Edit: It was only $299. $300 off. Still didn’t buy it...
On the wiki’s forum gold page https://wiki.audiob.us/doku.php?id=forum_gold
there is a link to forum post with advice about that. It is near the bottom of the page.
@Ailerom Panning? No. Here is the page!

Thanks
Awesome! Just the advice I needed.
I’m just a little confused. I also purchased the rEvolution pack and downloaded the mono version and unzipped. I picked the mono 44100hz folder and moved to the summary folder. Inside the summary folder there were 8 files and 1 folder labeled right channel with 8 more files. So I guess there ends up being 8 left channel files and 8 right channel files. I’m wondering why this is, given that it was the mono and not the true stereo version. Is there a difference in these files. Does it matter which one I drop into my ir loader (in my case, Impulsation)?
This is an email directly from OwnHammer regarding the “Right Channel” labeled IRs:
“There are separate dual mono files for people who cannot use true stereo technology in their equipment, where IRs loaded are summed to mono no matter what. So they're only useful to you if you are in that situation.”
Meaning, since you’ll be using the 200ms mono IRs, you don’t need the right channel folder. Just pick your sample rate you’ll be working in and import the “summary” files into your convolution app.
This is the perfect explanation and guide for the process, located at the bottom two articles in the wiki.
Making a quick video capture of the process into Thafknar now for those who are more visual learners, but honestly I don’t even think it’s needed. The Wiki guide has it all.
Damn, you’re quick! Thanks for that info. You have been a huge help for me (and others). I look forward to your video!
Make a brand new folder, and move all of the summary folders from the various unzipped IRs into that folder. Zip that folder and now you have a streamlined collection without the clutter. You can always load the “dark” and “rear” IRs later. For Thafknar I literally take that new zipped folder and move it into Thafknar inside the Files app, then open it inside the app with a long press. It’s that easy.
Great tip given how many files are created. It can certainly cause a big mess in your IR loader. Unfortunately I don’t think Impulsation can handle zipped files, but just having the summary folders is a big help with keeping thing organized.
Yeah I think you’re right. What about just taking a “summary” folder and moving it directly into the IMPULSation folder inside the Files app. That should work. Make sure to rename your folders with the original OwnHammer name, or whatever name you choose, so that you don’t have a bunch of folders named “summary”. I suppose you can look at the name extensions of the IRs inside the app, and then rename the folder inside the app.
Yeah, thanks. That should work perfectly.
Here’s my video guide for properly importing IRs into Thafknar or IMPULSation without making yourself crazy or overwhelmed. This is just a visual representation of what has already been explained properly on the Wiki page and on this forum, but with some organizational touches you may find useful. Thanks for watching!
