Those of you that are using Sugar Bytes, Audio Damage and Klevgrand apps are using the sideloading method? I don't see them in the app store (not that I expected to find them, considering their pricing structure)
yes! feels like most of them were not in the app store, but who cares 🦕🙃 -deeply in love with M1+Live11+Max8+iOSSYNTHSONM1 combo-
Ummm... to be honest... although I've found several that work just fine on mac mini M1, I've ultimately deleted them all because I much prefer to use them on iPad.
Thanks, just wanted to confirm I was looking in the right place
Slightly tangential q
(And I don’t have a M1 mac, I only just bought a big new MacBook Pro i9 hovercraft/dickroaster this time last year)
If Korg Gadget could run on this sort of scheme, somehow, perhaps with a future update to the iOS app(s), I wonder what would happen to a future version of the macOS Gadget, which is already AU
Or… could it work the other way?
If iOS Gadget could run on M1 Macs, it would be monolithic ... a single app with all the gadgets running only inside it. The major difference with Mac Gadget is each gadget is a separate AU and can be used in any DAW.
👀sorry I forgot to add Gadget to the list
and yes, it runs on M1
zenbeats ios version works too

aum
Hi there ! When you say it works, can it host auv3s ?
Maybe we could make a shared spreadsheet of those who work standalone and the other hosted ?
Thanks !
I can't get anything out of AUM on the m1 ... "runs" to the extent the GUI turns up but if I load anything I get an error message about a missing helper app. Should I be standing on one leg?
Same.
Almost no iOS AUv3 runs on M1 due to some GUI problems. This is also one of the main thing not working with other plug-ins. Could also be more a Big Sur problem.
So far I gave up on iOS apps running on my M1 and the truth is there is anyway no reason for me to try it anymore since all I need is already there for Mac.
Drambo is still the main app I would love to run as AUv3 inside Logic but again there is the GUI bug when you scroll anything it crash the DAW.
So there is really nothing to see here and I doubt there will be much happening.
So i will not even try to side load things anymore and also these iOS apps are still better to use on a touch-screen.
The standalone version runs mostly fine and it can be useful for creating presets and try things out etc but at the end it is not worth the hassle for me.
But then it seems some developers find a way of working AUv3 on Mac inside Logic, so it should be possible.
For those not working I still wished they opted out or fix it.
I've filed a bug report with Apple about the crashing host with an iOS AUv3 scroll bug. I think there are actually a couple of bugs involved with this. The first is the bug in the AU side of things that causes an AU to crash when you scroll. This is actually pretty easy to trace and they should be able to track it if they get enough bug reports. The second is that no host should crash from an iOS AU going down. I don't think Logic really even does crash. I think it detects the AU crashing and then gives up. The iOS AU is sandboxed and specifically not running in process in Logic. Logic shouldn't need to restart and it shouldn't crash. This needs bug reports filed on it too.
Getting an iOS AUv3 to compile and run on a Mac is pretty straight forward. For mine, it was completely trivial. I had to check a box in Xcode. That was it. I'm not a fan of the Mac Catalyst thing in general, but it's good for certain types of apps and it works great for AU's that don't really do much multitouch interaction. I've added a couple of extra bits to my libraries to allow for better mouse and touchpad use after the initial port, but even that only took a couple of hours.
I think more devs of iOS only audio units should do this just from the point that it makes it easier for their users to use their plugins in projects that they migrate between iOS and macOS.
It's about time for a touchscreen Macbook Pro.
And MacOS fixes instead of new features that weren't tested sufficiently.
Is there a comprehensive list somewhere hidden in these forums? Anyone keeping track? I think this is really exciting to have some of our favorite tools on Mac M1 also. Don’t have a M1 MacBook yet though 🙈
Very curious. Not quite sold on them just yet.
AUM and Drambo would probably do it...
Seems loke AUM and Gadget have been pulled from the Mac Appstore.

Drambo is working quite well though, I'm enjoying the fullscreen mode a lot 😃
So it works well on an M1 chip Mac? Good to know.
@NeuM Quite well I wrote. It runs on Mac but there's no guarantee for anything.
Some gestures don't work like on the touch iDevices for example, I'm sure there's more to find.
There's no priority for supporting the Mac version so try at your own risk 😉
Ok I thought I might missed a list that is taken care of containing all of iOS plugins running in these M1 chipsets.
Would be terrific though
I’ve managed to curate a list of iOS apps which work on M1… pretty sure I posted my entire list here some time ago.
Sorry, where exactly? Was it simply earlier in this thread, or in another?
Another thread. You might be more successful finding it than me. Maybe a month or two ago.
UPDATE: Found it. From April 16th. I’ll just repost it here:
Thanks! Hopefully a complete list can be cobbled together somehow, at some stage. Still, looking good already
👍
None of my iOS apps work on mac mini M1
None from my list? Keep in mind, you have to open the macOS App Store and individually download (and then test) these apps. Sometimes the apps might work as a standalone, sometimes they cannot be downloaded at all. And sometimes if you try to use one as a plugin (in GarageBand or Logic Pro, for example) they’ll cause your host application to crash or become unstable, so be sure to do plenty of testing before committing to using it on a critical project.
Thanks! Going to check these in Reaper.
I don’t use Reaper. It can handle Audio Units?
