The mutes are uniformly excellent. I could spend a lifetime squeezing great things out of each of these instruments.
Has anyone had any luck using a Roli Seaboard in Cubasis or Audiobus with any of these SWAM apps? It plays a note but has no velocity, expression, etc. Am I missing something?
You have to set each parameter for the different types of expressions. The seaboard will just play like a keyboard otherwise. Set expression to aftertouch. Then you can set cc74 (slide) to whatever you feel works best (vibrato amount, growl, flutter, mute position... etc).
Does anyone else find that the trumpet (the only one I’ve tried) is not super sensitive to differences in velocity?
I noticed yesterday with one of them, forget which, that I was playing through polyphase, even if I turned velocity down to ZERO! there was not a huge difference.
No, you're not the only one.
Has anyone figured out how to switch off the reverb in auv3.
I noticed this too in the French Horn. Not sure what effect velocity is having if any, will need to play more. Sounds lovely though.
Velocity does definitely have some effect, at least on the trumpet or flugelhorn or whatever it was a tried yesterday. It is slightly more expressive, has a bit of edge to it. But really subtle, too subtle altogether imo
Velocity only affects the attack of the note. The rest of (and majority of) the dynamics, from soft to loud, are controlled by expression. I haven't tried this, since I use aftertouch for expression; but it may be possible to map expression to velocity if needed.
The other thing you can do, is increase the dynamic response of the instrument. It is set to 70 by default, but can go up to 100% for a much more "brassy" sound in the louder notes.
Wonderful, thanks a lot!
You mean there’s another way? 🤤
Hit submit yesterday, no email. Just tried again will see what happens.
Agreed. The only bad thing about playing with this beta is that it makes you wish they had allowed Geoshred to implement more full-featured instruments.
I think they compliment each other well. Not much overlap.
I think I should test the Georshred keyboard on these beta apps just to see if I can standardize on an MPE surface.
How many MPE keyboard apps are there worth considering as the best implementation?
I really don't know McD, I've only tried Roli and Morph and had some problems with both. Linnstrument sounds great but I think I remember it is not Bluetooth which is a turn-off for me.
What problem have you had with the morph other than the Buchla overlay issue?
Only the Buchla overlay not playing the high keys but that is definitely a pretty big problem as far as I'm concerned as the Buchla overlay is what most excites me about the morph.
Did you mark that you own some of their other products? Someone said that was key to getting the invite email. Try to answer in the affirmative throughout
Did you get it to work? I had issues here too. It just kept taking me to the link to download test flight which I did. Then it would just open TestFlight and tell me that I had no invites and to enter a code (far as I could tell they didn’t send a code).
I realised I requested from a different email than my Apple ID, so resent the request for beta invite with my Apple ID email. Switched from private browser in safari to regular and messed around with different ways of opening that landing page that pops up after you click the instruments in the email. I think I also opened my email client in my browser instead of through the gmail app.
Some combination of the above finally worked but I spent a solid 30 mins trying to figure it out.
Oh man YES. Can’t wait to hear the finished product
That’s great @BCKeys. Thanks for posting...”I need some money” might be a better lyric 😉
so is this setup like geoshred , or more of a sampler that needs to use a mpe controller?
@mjcouche : that sounds encouraging!! I wanted to cover black and blue live and at home ever since.
With that Jerry Hey Horn section, may be it is the time...
More like a sampler that can work with or without an MIDI/MPE controller!
That trumpet is reallyyyy fun and expressive
Stupid question: if that comes to geoshred, can i play them via my yamaha montage. I know the Expression features won‘t work....
You can map expression to whatever you want. So if you don’t have an expression controller, you can set the expression to the mod wheel. The head of Audio Modeling plays them this way with great results.
I’ve got an iPhone with 3D Touch. Anyway I can play these using Bluetooth midi and still maintain the mpe with 3D Touch (through GeoShred or Velocity Keyboard?)
No, it's not coming to geoshred. I asked them, they said no here
