Something called Loopseque 8 is on sale. Screenshots look a bit like Loopy, a bit like Patterning. Never heard of it. What does the forum think about this one? 🤔

That was my only impulse buy for the year.

    That was fun.

    Thanks.

Looks like Patterning II on steroids and flashing lights. 🧐

Does it allow loading in samples/midi from the Files app?

    Good catch. It’s only $1.99 usually $9.99

    I don't know yet.

Though it mentions samples, the only ones I've found so far are the inbuilt ones.
There is a Factory and User menu but I can't get samples into the User section.
Syncs quite nicely using Ableton Link especially with start/stop.

I've had a quick look through the manual and it doesn't mention midi.

    Here's the manual.

    https://loopseque.com/guide.pdf

There is a Loopesque8 folder in Files app and that has a user Projects folder.

Ok. Bought it and initially I think it doesn’t allow to import samples from Files. I made a little session record though and it then created a Recordings folder in the User Library. You can then put any loops or oneshots in that Loopseque8\Recordings\ folder on your iPad via the Files app and it then shows up in your User Library.
Maybe there’s a simpler way, haven’t had the time to check…

    It's worth the current price.

    +1

I’ve already had a play with the factory sounds.
    It’s a fun app.

    Edit.

It doesn't have midi in or out.
    It's really intuitive.
I've been going through the inbuilt samples and there's enough
variety to have fun with whilst exploring how the app works.

It would be nice to use this in an Electronica set.
It's not a competitor for Patterning II, it does it's own thing.
The circular icon thing seems to be quite popular at the moment.
Very nice for an impulse purchase.

I remember pleading with the developer to make it AUv3 when it was in development 😂

  • Can't recall now why Loopseque 8 didn't click with me. I was fan of the original one. It was one of the ol' classics. Maybe i'm wearing rose tinted glasses

  • It’s no Patterning 3, but its new to me- gimmie!!

You can do some very interesting rhythmic stuff by importing odd samples and building up complex textures. It clicks with me in a way other “similar” apps don’t.

    This is a definite +1

I found Loopseque 8 to be wonderful also, but it is unusable currently- it crashes upon saving, and seems to be abandoned

I don’t get any crashing with 8 but it does seem unfinished. Saving projects is weird because it saves as “Unknown Artist / Untitled Track” and if I rename it it switches back to Unknown/Untitled so you never know what’s what. I’ll stick to the OG I guess.

  • Love the OG. Still have it installed on my ipad. and the OG mini on an ipod

I guess ill try reinstall on 8

OG is just right, im glad @ervin brought it into the thread. 8 tries to do a lot, and the original is just right in the goldilocks sense, not too much not too little

  • They also have a free kids version that looks cool.

Yeah, it's lovely :) I send a link to my mate who just bought first iPad for his small kids, that app is great for them.

The circles in Loopseque8 reminded me of Reactable and Rotor apps. This first one looks abandoned (last update 5y ago), but Rotor had last update 1y ago. Wheather here is any user of Rotor, is it work on a new iPads Pro 18/20/21? Appstore comment from 2y ago say it don't work on iPad Pro 2018. Thanks.

  • I got an email from the Loopseque dev saying he’s going to fix the file saving issue.

Reactable works for me on Air 4, Rotor no such luck. I made a mistake above, it is Rotor, not Loopseque 8 that crashes on saving. This on my new Air and my 10.5 Pro. I kept thinking it hsd to do with Rotors interaction with Files app, but I haven't figured how that could be.

Ive written the Dev a few times no response

Thanks for the info @Littlewoodg. In this case if Reactable go ever on sale (as it was many times in the past) I could buy it with IAPs even it is abandoned. I remember how it was used live at Björk concerts, I mean physical instrument. I also had a chance to play with the device at the Copernicus Science Center years ago. Cool thing.

  • Pics/social

New Border - photo frames for Instagram is free usually $.99

Also IAP for video unlock is free usually $.99 it’s in the settings.

  • Cykle and polybeat sequencer bundle $12.99

    https://apps.apple.com/us/app-bundle/sequencer-bundle/id1597274100

I must have purchased cykle on sale since it’s showing $8 for polybeat usually $7.99
