How does Segments compare to ReSlice which I already own?. They look pretty similar.
@tahiche I don't have Chomplr, sEGments, or ReSlice, but the Chomplr update and discussion prompted me to take inventory of what I do have and survey the landscape. This was the best recent thread on slicers I found - https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/42305/favorite-sample-slicer-sequencer
Hmm, that is sort of strange thing to do, changing a worked in name like that. Wonder if he had a fall out with the desktop division or just made a deal?
I have sEGments and almost never use it. Feature-wise, it's a very capable app. But I'm finding it unusable on the smaller screen iphone, the AudioUnit does some weird scaling that does not happen on the ipad, and I personally hate those low-contrast round buttons.
I was thinking about getting Reslice, but it is missing a very cool feature I'd like to have and that both Chomplr and sEGments have - the ability to play slices chromatically
I guess I should check Chomplr next
There's a "Summer Effect Bundle" from Klevgränd:

I hadn’t noticed you can’t play slices chromatically in ReSlice. You’re right, pretty big omission. You can sort of program it in the arp section using “Pitch mode”, but can’t play it with a keyboard.
These apps have different bug overlapping use-cases. Do a forum search for more about reslice. For me, it's arpeggiator can be magic for rearranging sliced grooves.
Harry Gohs???
WTF! Sounds like a bad screen name for a male porn star! 🙄
Having a laugh at someone's given name?
Some sort of business restructuring, nothing wrong with that. I hope they’ll keep making cool apps for us
Yep, that arp looks real nice
Found another discussion on the matter: https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/42735/reslice-vs-segments-which-is-better-for-what
Only if he’s an up and coming star.
Another 4pockets price drop
Multitrack Recorder is $2 off down to $7.99

Oh shit. Don’t really need 2 of the 4, however Haze 2 is looking sweet… any experience with any of these?
Since you have Drambo anyway...
https://patchstorage.com/slicer-with-time-stretch/
Not only can you play polyphonically but all pitches are time corrected so they're playing at different pitches with the same length.
Do I need Korvpressor and Kleverb…… probably not
Kleverb is such a beautiful reverb, I'd call it Kleverb Cave Reverb though 😆
Nu Rack is $4 off down to $8.99

Looks awesome. I'll check it out, thanks for the link.
I knew it could be done in Drambo, and I even started building a sample slicer myself to some success. But I wanted something I could use on my iPhone SE and Drambo is not easy to use on a small screen.
Though I have a feeling I'll end up using Drambo
I also want to be able to quickly transfer my project from one device to another and continue where I left off. GarageBand iCloud sync or airdropping my AUM session works well, but not when samples are involved. For example, Hammerhead and GR-16 (via Open sample) store sounds embedded in the plugin state, and it's such a useful and underrated feature. sEGments can't do that, so I have to go through create drum kit/export/import only to find out that it still won't restore the state properly. Drambo AU does not use internal cache either, it remembers the path to the sample in Drambo's internal storage but it actually works not that bad - I will have to import the sample folder only once, just need to be sure it's the same location on all my devices. Still I'd prefer not to bother with importing anything
No idea if Reslice or Chomplr store the currently opened sample in the internal cache. I'd be grateful if someone could test it for me if they have the app already.
I never ask for refunds, but I'm getting tired of not being able to test the app before paying and of buying several apps just to find the one (or none) that works for me
Wow. It really can do it all.
Fraaaaaaame by Fraaaaaaaame!
This is definitely worth a look if you already own some/most of the apps in the bundle. I already had Haaze 2 and Korvpressor but did not have Daw Cassette or Kleverb. Was able to complete the bundle for $10.00 (those two apps would normally be $32.00). Not too shabby! Thanks for the post!
I'll give it a go just want to make sure I understand how to go about it. Load Chomplr/Reslice in AUM, Load sample, tweak it in some way, save patch (I'm assuming I'd have to save the patch in AUM presets and not the actual app but I can try it both ways). Save AUM project. Exit AUM. Open AUM, load another random project to clear whatever is stored by the "load last session" feature. Load the test session that was tweaked/saved -- then what? How will I know if it's saved in the cache or not? If it loads exactly as I left it, then this feature you're looking for is in place? Is that correct? I'm curious about how this works now as well - win/win!
forgive the NOOB question but what does it mean to play slices chromatically?
@pr4y_4_beats chromatically: in semi-tones or in pitch.
Some samplers only play the pitch of the original sample.
The best way to test it is using two devices. Create new AUM session, add Chomplr/Reslice, load some custom sample and save the session. No need to save patch. Then you just send that AUM session to your another device via AirDrop, iCloud, etc. If it opens without any errors and you can see the sample loaded, it means it was saved in the internal cache with all the auv3 state data. Also, can check the AUM session file size - if it's smaller than the sample file, than it's not embedded
You can probably test it using only one device. Need to delete that custom sample from the app before re-opening the AUM session. I guess that should work. Just need to see what happens if the referenced sample is missing

We may need a different tester, I only have the one device. I tried in CHOMPLR, best I can tell it didn’t carry over into AUM after deleting the sample in the app.
I thought so. I just checked the manual and it looks like Chomplr works only with samples that were imported into its sample library. I may send them an email about this proposed feature
A good app nonetheless and I always appreciate a good manual 👍
Thank you for testing! 🤝
