It looks like Elliot Garage noticed the Chomplr update, too. sEGments is on sale for $5.99 USD. Game on!

    https://apps.apple.com/app/id1513990681

How does Segments compare to ReSlice which I already own?. They look pretty similar.

I have sEGments and almost never use it. Feature-wise, it's a very capable app. But I'm finding it unusable on the smaller screen iphone, the AudioUnit does some weird scaling that does not happen on the ipad, and I personally hate those low-contrast round buttons.

I was thinking about getting Reslice, but it is missing a very cool feature I'd like to have and that both Chomplr and sEGments have - the ability to play slices chromatically

I guess I should check Chomplr next

forgive the NOOB question but what does it mean to play slices chromatically?

Basically play the Sample Across a keyboard, all 12 keys or notes is chromatic as opposed to a scale which might have 7 notes, or 5 or whatever, out of the 12.

  • Anyone know if the BH expansion IAP’s are on sale too? App Store doesn’t note it and the packs don’t have the sale tag on them that I remember them having in past sales, but the prices look lower than I remember... or I’m misremembering.

  • Yeah, I think the BeatHawk IAP’s are definitely on sale.

So, I see people talk about beathawk alot but I'm wondering why its so special if I already have koala, eg pulse , beatmaker 3, Korg gadget 2, Nanostudio2, impc pro 2, etc.

    Hi,

I like those very nice Sampler Sets, make sure to check out the incredible Organ BX pack 👍🤠.

    Greetings,
    Götz

  • The expansion packs, whether instruments or loops are super good, especially for the price. I sample into BM3 and use them there, so essentially BH is a high quality, inexpensive, royalty free sound/loop source for me.

oh thats pretty sick, about how many samples comes with the initial buy and how expensive are the IAPs?

Also, in the Audiobus compatible apps search here, next to Beathawk’s listing it says “Not AB3 optimized.” I would get the app to work with AB3—specifically because I’ve read here that the MIDI sequencer is really good, so that’s one way I’d use it in AB3—so what does this mean? Will it be problematic?

So I bought it, there are two packs, but I don't see the total count of samples. Quite a few though. IAPs on saler are between 1 and 5$.

What are the must have packs?

For me: guitars in Baroque and Spanish Gypsy sound decent. Accoustic Drums are good to drop in when i can’t be bothered to load up AudioLayer. You get a decent set of voices with the Choir pack. Started on the classical packs but gave up on them once SWAM and StaffPad came along.

Got a thing for Mellotrons since getting Gadget so may take a look at that one this time around.

  • Can you use BH in AUM and trigger sounds from other midi auv3?

  • I’m wondering, are beathawk strings samples better than isymphonic?

  • does "drum designer" packs contains only one-shot samples, or also some patterns?

  • @NimboStratus said:

    Yup.

You can use BH as a sound module.

Where is the store on iPhone BeatHawk??

  • edited July 2021

Beathawk Mallets, for sure. Now they have reverb free vibes. The Choirs are good if you don’t have Module or PureSynth Platinum. Total Bass is excellent for acoustic basses. Baroque for guitar and harpsichord. The acoustic piano is decent if you don’t have Ravenscroft, PurePiano orModule. The brass and strings are eclipsed now. I’d go for VB3m over their B3 pack. Acoustic percussion is useful. Those are the ones I use.
