What are peoples thoughts on Classic FX? I know it’s meant to be a clone/homage of the Lexicon Vortex, but I’ve listened to just about every YouTube demo and it sounds thin to me (in comparison to the Lexicon). It looks like the dev used the effect schematics from the the Vortex documetation but the actual FX aren’t based on the Lexicon DSP. I know it’s well rated by some but is that a universal view?
I'm still trying to figure it out, mate. I mean it's an entry-level Igor product. 🤷
Beatcutter seems like a lot but really if you start off with 1 sample and turn off all the auto generated stuff then it's not hard to understand. I think the decision to buy it or not should be more focused on what his vision is of the app and whether that fits with your workflow. As far as I can tell, he sees it as a way to create fractal soundscapes. There are a few presets to get you started too, even though he says there aren't.

Thanks. That is a good point. But I’m backed up on apps to learn, so it’s not a case of yes or no, just a case of now or later, since I like these types of apps I’ll get it eventually, just don’t think now is right time for me. It looks, sounds, seems, awesome.

My impression is the house is somewhat divided on Classic FX. It seems people were hoping for a more far-out/spacey/glitchy multi-FX unit -- which to be fair, is what the interface looks like. I thought Gavinski offered a good overview with the videos he did for it with some suggestions for making it less subtle. Personally, I like it for melodic material and favor Turnado for percussive stuff. You can definitely get some interesting results when morphing between the slots.
And if that doesn't work, there's always the thread on cleaning knobs.

I don’t get it, so I understand it all.
I’ve got quite some delays but keep coming back to this one. Mapping the time and feedback knob to a controller guarantees some cool sound effects. Loading two plugins, using the first as the soundgenerator, the second as a traditional delay is really cool. In AUM you can limit the value of the assigned knob so the feedback can be controlled even better. Easy interface, does what it needs to do. Recommended.
A lot have been said already about MixBox, and this is a nice price to step in. Recommended.
