Which iOS DAW/computer DAW combo do you use?
I am curious if many people here use both an iOS DAW and a computer DAW and go back and forth between them. If so, which combination of DAWs do you use?
I have been using Audio Evolution in combination with Reaper, and also MultitrackStudio for iPad and for Mac.
Because MultitrackStudio for iPad and Mac are both by the same developer, it is quite seamless and straightforward to switch back and forth between the two versions.

BM3 iPad / Bitwig Desktop (PC)
AB/AUM/Cubasis<->Cubase-Elements
On desktop I use NI Kontakt for bigger Soundlibraries and some mastering stuff.
GarageBand , Logic
Korg Gadget > Ableton
Very interesting - do Gadget files open easily in Ableton? I remember thinking that there was some kind of relationship between Korg and Ableton (I mean the companies), but now I can’t recall any specifics.
@LeftyChris If you mean Gadget's Ableton exports then yes. To open native Gadget projects you need the Gadget Win or Mac version.
Oh wow, I didn’t even know there was a computer version of Gadget.
iPad apps as 'Sampler Fodder' for Renoise & Logic Pro.
I was just reading about tracker DAWs the other day. I have never used Renoise but it sounds quite interesting.
There's a free demo for download so everyone can give it a spin.

The official Renoise channel has plenty of tutorial videos to get started.

For sample slicing this one is quite neat
Cheers!
MTS for IPad - MTS for Windows (10).
I’ve also shipped projects between MTS for iPad and MTS for Windows (96) (old 32 bit stack)
Projects can ship back and forth between the PC and iPad versions, something I haven’t seen with other iPad/PC combinations.
MTS also is available in Mac, and projects can do iPad - Windows - Mac.
GarageBand and Cubasis on the iPad. But mostly (not a DAW) apeMatrix these days. GarageBand on a Mac if I need to but really never do.
In the past Korg Gadget and Groovebox/ Ableton
Now NanoStudio 2 / Ableton
But I’m only using iPad lately
@Littlewoodg :Can you mix time signatures in MTS? As in inserting a bar of 3/4 in a 4/4 song?
Aum - Ableton
I do AUM to Logic or Live quite often
IOS- Auria Pro and NS2
Desktop- Mac mini, Pro Tools 11 and Reaper
Logic Pro is my DAW and has been my mainstay since v1. At First it was synced to an 8 track reel to reel, then it became a ‘hard disc recording’ system before it became a DAW as we know them today as an in the box solution. It will probably go full circle and be synced to an 8 track reel to reel again one day. Cos nostalgia.
iOS is for jamming and making music when I wouldn’t otherwise have time.
That’s not to disparage iOS. I thoroughly enjoy using my iOS devices to make music and 90% of playing music is on iOS these days. Cos kids.
If I ever get the time and space to have a home studio again one day, then the Mac will be the centre of everything again. But iOS will probably still play a large part.
I use my iPad as an instrument and have audio midi routing going directly into Bitwig and back through a iConnectMIDI2+ interface.
Yes sir
NS2 > Logic .. it’s been a happy pairing for the past 12 months, would love to see more of Logic’s features making their way to iOS though!
I think all of us would love to see that, even if they’re cumulative additions to GarageBand.
Wow, thanks!!
Yes they do , if I am not mistaken gadget supports full blown midi export as live set , some other apps export everything audio only ...
A bit of everything into Ableton. IDAM for midi, headphone output for instruments.
I usually use Cubasis 3 for DAW and bring it into Reason on my computer but on my iPad I’m is usually just making material in AUM or Drambo more than any DAWs on iOS
Thank you everybody for the interesting responses! Some responses rather surprised me, such as this one. I would have thought most Cubasis users would also be Cubase users, but using it with Reason is an intriguing thought.
This is quite an interesting pairing. I take it that you weren’t thrilled with the iOS GarageBand either, hence NS2? I could never quite click with iOS GarageBand for some reason, though I used Logic for several years.
I was sending from Auria to Logic (then later on, I switched to Reaper) for a little while but I had to ditch Auria when it started making my iPad crash again and again. Eventually, I couldn’t even get projects to load in Auria. But I’m quite happy with Audio Evolution and MultitrackStudio now.
I use MTS for iPad and for Mac and I really like how seamless it is to move back and forth between them, and I also like how similar the two versions are, making the switch from one to the other even easier. I didn’t know it was seamless with PC too, though - that’s great.
MTS seems so underrated and, as far as I can tell, its desktop version seems almost completely unknown outside of people like you and me who also use the iPad version. I discovered MTS for desktop because I already had the iPad version - I’ll bet the same is true of you?
I have •never• seen MTS on any list of desktop DAWs (even lists of obscure DAWs that include programs like MuLab) and I have never seen any mention of MTS on non-iOS forums. But it is an excellent program! Maybe it is better known in Europe? I am in the US.
The way the iOS and desktop versions of MTS are nearly identical really does make them so easy to work with. I don’t know why more companies have not adopted the MTS approach of having desktop and iOS DAWs that are extremely similar. I guess iOS GarageBand is supposed to be similar to Logic but it always felt pretty different to me.
BM3 and Cubasis are couch tools that serve primarily Maschine on desktop and I also use Samplitude on desktop in much the same way as the iPad daws currently but will likely also do mixing in Samplitude of Maschine exported stuff.
If NS2 audio tracks and AU fx automation happens / is good enough I would love to mix there. Fingers crossed!
Now that you say that, I just remembered I have a lite version of cubase on my computer that I may use for project files. I really like mixing audio stems on Reason though cos I’m real familiar with it
