I kinda like the off kilter pads, gives me proper Simmons vibes
I do understand, it’s interesting how different reactions are though, and yeah I completely agree, if something’s designed to annoy, I probably wouldn’t be smiling
Seems to me their rotation is suited for the left and right hand’s 4 fingers
damn, i haven’t noticed it until now. now i can’t unsee it
I agree, would prefer to see square pads…maybe @FredAntonCorvest can provide some more options in a future update?
Yes and Simmons were TERRIBLE
I don't know why but these pads look exciting and make me wanna play them. Definitely better than squares because Squares are everywhere.
Sorry...
The pre-order should drop tomorrow so I'll be fun to take FAC Drumkit for a spin with Atom 2 in AUM
Don't know if it's under consideration but it could be handy to 'pre-group' the sounds for each multi-output.
(For example all HI-Hat Type sounds in one Group, Percussion in another etc.).
Most iOS hosts are a pita to use when the number of outputs go up.
For example in Pure Acid it's possible to select which 'bus(multi-out)' each sound or sounds go to.
Once they are assigned to a bus they are removed from the 'Main Mix' avoiding duplicate sounds.
(there is no real need to play the a bass drum in the 'main-mix' and on it's dedicated multi-out).
But yeah, It'll be super fun to take this thing out for a spin tomorrow!
Cheers!
but i have to say these pads look amazing in action
there’s an option to mute sounds on the master out. so for now we at least can have two groups.
Speak for yourself. You’d think by now people would realise one mans trash is another mans treasure etc. I adore the sound of the SDS, pure quirky 80s tom fun!
Let’s not forget the 303 was a TERRIBLE replacement for a real bassist… still managed to be one of the most important instruments of the generation. Hell, a lot of the iconic Roland range was a flop when it came out!
Also agree with @Samu, would really love more control over the bus routing. Having 16 channels spread over AUM will be a bit of a faff. Also bus processing is a big thing for me on drum groups so would make the whole workflow way easier to manage.
Because I’m too impatient to wait until tomorrow, is there any type of random modulation built in or is it all the mod just via the envelopes?
Yes it’s not random. The left hand side are rotated anti clockwise, the right hand side clockwise. Then top row is flipped for the bottom row.
Can you automate the envelopes?
That will be enough
I was surprised when Doug demoed it and had to pull down the volume on the master to avoid things getting too loud
(ie. sound was heard on both the master and the individual outs).
So it's fairly straight forward then, when using one of the multi-outs remember to remove it from the mater out...
...or treat the multi-outs as 'pre fader sends' with 100% WET effects and control the return level with the track volume.
(So the 'Dry' output will always be on the master and fx returns on track levels).
Sweet, this will be a blast!
in drambo you can, but you’re not supposed to. but you can
But isn’t that exactly what I did?
Even without knowing what that sounds like it looks like it could be a source for some crazy glitchy sounds
Ooo, RNGs can be routed to the middle segments of a clap envelope for randomized (but synthesized ) claps on each hit!
And now I know the first thing I'll be trying when I get this app hehe.
this approach is quite shaky and breaks everything quite easily. i totally get why it’s officially not implemented yet (if it’ll ever be). i haven’t experimented with it much and yet to get anything good out of it but the possibility is there.
That's not how random works, is it - but I'm absolutely sure you know that. So I'm just making the observation that your legendary OCD may not apply to accurate terminology
That web site annoyed me.
OK, with the inclusion of playable pads, you’ve won me over Fred. I’m (pre) buying. But HOW BIG IS THIS APP? I’m dealing with a serious shortage of storage space right now. If it’s very large, I’ll buy now and download later.
it's 12 megabytes. you have no more excuses
Being annoyed because things are intentionally “incorrect” to your expectations is not OCD. Please do not belittle a legit medical condition in an attempt to explain your distaste for the UI.
Anal retentive =/= OCD
Very good point. True OCD can be devastating and utterly panic-inducing, and it has nothing to do with Tony Shaloub as a charmingly finicky detective on "Monk."
But it's also a forgivable mistake! I'm sure no harm was intended. We live, we learn, we move on. We grow old, we grow old, we shall consider every pre-order drum app as good as sold.
I'm not belittling it since I do suffer from it for real...
...it's not 'distaste'. FAC apps are among the most well designed apps I've come across thus this as a surprise I did not expect.
I can always take a 'chill pill' if things get really bad, let's leave it a that...
it's out in russia btw
Cool! Guess the pre-order notifications get sent out soonish...
...it still has pre-order status in Sweden.
Still says pre-order in uk but I just purchased it now and it downloaded
