  • this thing is perfect! FAC you did it again!

  • @vasilymilovidov I’m in NanoStudio. I’ll take a look in AUM, thanks again.

  • Can you load up external samples?

long press on the sample menu

  • There’s actually subtle squares on the pads…which even increase the size of the touch target. It wouldn’t be that hard to make those more salient as an option

  • Lovely app. Can't wait to make some original kits from it. So far the only issue i have come across is scaling on iPhone 11 in stand alone. Haven't loaded it in a host yet.

  • @FredAntonCorvest

Same thing in AUM. iPhone 11 latest iOS.

@drcongo - In NanoStudio 2 to control AUs you first have to map parameters to one of the eight macro knobs, then you can control the macro knobs with MIDI CC's or automation.

Bring up the macro knob view, touch the hamburger menu at the top-right, then the knob you want to control. There you will be able to pick which parameter is controlled by that knob.

  • Is the GUI not going full size on this???

Sounds good! Does it support AU automation? (i do see midi cc in the store description)

  • I love my 11 but the resolution is so wonky with audio units

  • Lol I just bought a Volca sample today and am probably still going to grab this today as well

Ha. You can load up some custom drums into it. Fresh off the press. 👌🏾

  • Needs a randomiser 😁

Awesome! Got me an FACDrum (LinnDrum) going. Haven’t even messed with the synth side yet. But I have to recommend Atom 2 for sequencing. I just got this thing and it’s the best piano roll I’ve ever used. The handy note divisions/triplets etc is just plain awesome and I can’t believe I’ve never found something that does it so plainly, because they SHOULD be right there. I always hate having to do straight quarter or eighth note patterns and this makes it so easy for snare fills. Huge ups to this app.

And the FAC sounds awesome as well.

  • IPhone XR was the right choice B)

  • Still getting used to the open standalone first to load all resources. Second time it’s burned me and had me ready to write to the developer.

No, that’s typical with Fred’s apps.

Now, I’m of the opinion a drum machine should take advantage of the size of the device. I bought the app and some of the onscreen type is way too small. I’d appreciate an iPad Pro sized app that fills up the screen and has more (if not all) of the functions in a single layout.

Also, I understand the rationale behind making all of the pads look alike and giving them numbers instead of icons, but maybe if we had the ability to assign pads with our own color scheme it would be easier to know which pad has what sound.

Finally, the library of sounds is very small and I assume more will be coming. I do like the sounds it has now, but I was really expecting many more options.

  • as someone who’s just got burned by his own recklessness I have an obvious advice — backup your kit presets folder, drumkit doesn’t keep them on your ipad if you delete the app (or get your beta replaced by the appstore version).

No, that’s the usual size with Fred’s apps. I’m of the opinion a drum machine should take advantage of the size of the device. I bought the app and some of the type is way too small. That’s the thing about the Pro…I’ve found it’s worthless for gaining more screen real estate because most of the stuff I use doesn’t use it. Really wish I’d stuck with the 11.

  • I haven’t even heard it yet, but I can tell already that I’m going to love it. Here’s why —> It’s got “FAC” in the name!

  • Sounds amazing. I agree , best sounding drums on iOS.

What are you guys using to sequence this? All the drum sequencers that come to mind cap at around 8. Need something with 16. Hate using piano roll for drums, for now have been using Atom 2 though. Any sequencers meant for drums come to mind?

Drambo 😁 You don't actually need any modules in Drambo at all for a basic sequencer.

  • My first experiment with the app:

    Rozeta XOX.

midiDrums (included with the midiDreams app is useful for this too if you prefer to see more sequences together on one screen.

Drambo with midi out can be good too.

Swing and “human feel” would be good additions.

This was my biggest worry, but I just got Atom 2 and LOVE it. It’s awesome. The only other 16-lane sequencer I know of is Drambo. There’s a custom patch someone on here did for MIDI drums. Atom is more flexible though.
