@FredAntonCorvest Thanks for the wonderful update. I knew the preset manager was being moved but didn't realise it was being removed from the standalone. That is a real shame personally as that's the place where I would tinker and create, but not much point now without any save. Is there a technical reason why the preset manager can't exist in both versions?
Is $15.99 an intro price or is that the new updated final price?
808’s too. It doesn’t have be that long but an extra second would really help.
To me it’s kind of like a lighter weight, (better cpu/DSP) cleaner and clearer gui, version of drum computer, but with visual envelopes you can manipulate with the touchscreen. It’s really dope. Once this update comes out, it will be a top drum app, at least for me.
It’s alive!
Can facdrumkit change kits via program change?
And, can we move start point into any position in longer sample, or only in first second?
I’m using it quite often just with samples. Of course it would be a shame to ignore the oscillator section. It’s really great to use samples for the transients and the synth for some more substance. Anway, it’s great as a sample machine, too. The envelopes alone justify this app.
Excellent! Thanks FAC, this is perfect
Yes update is finally out. Sweet.
Hold up what version is it on, I didn’t see an update. Let me double check.
question deleted, solved, user error....
So has this got a drum sequencer built in or is it just a drum sample player?
If it doesn’t have a drum sequencer, what are folks using?
it doesn't. I use polybeat and playbeat
It hasn’t got a sequencer. And is not just a sample player. Each voice has got a sample and two oscillators. I like that it has a clear focus on shaping sounds and I really don‘t want to learn countless sequencers.
I‘m quite a heavy FAC Drumkit user and I like to use Polybeat or LK. Both have a factory mapping for Drumkit. Polybeat is a very intuitive drum step sequencer and it’s easy to create poly rhythms with it, but it supports only one freely mappable CC per project. If you want to do a lot of automations with Drumkit’s AU parameters then LK is the better choice.
Thanks folks.
I was using Drambo with it last night. Fun! Make sure you set the number of voices in the MIDI to CV module on the far left of the Drambo track to the amount you need.
is it possible to layer samples based on velocities or round robin or anything else(oscillator param, filters value to velocities or random changes) to make drum sound feel more natural?
Thanks
Polybeat works really well with it.
No layers, velocities, or round robin. No builtin randomization. Plenty of AU parameters are exposed, so you could use external apps to do some of switching up.
Agreed
What do you mean no built in randomization?
I love this app for several reasons, it’s lightweight, which is high on that list. I have plenty of sequencers, this app doesn’t need one. Helps keep it lightweight too. Loving this update.
If lots of params are exposed it’s a very good starting point.
The only drawback is layer velocities hard to simulate with exposed params.
There's plenty of pads, so there's nothing stopping us from creating multiple variations of the sounds and sequencing them instead of layering them on one pad?! (For example use a Mosaic script to trigger a different pads based on velocity).
FAC Drumkit is manly a 'drum synth' not a sample re-player...
No way built-into the app to vary the sound by [modulating] "anything else(oscillator param, filters value to velocities or random changes) to make drum sound feel more natural".
What do you think I meant?
I’d guess there was confusion between (random) modulation, which doesn’t exist, and patch randomisation, which now does?
by randomization people usually mean random shuffling of parameters to create new sound. and drumkit 2.0 has this.
i have a feeling that most of the people who are frustrated with drumkit use it to achieve some sort of realistic or natural drum sound and feel.
I think you are right. Drumkit is a synth in the first line. That’s why I think velocity layers is kind of an esoteric feature while envelopes and equalizers is a core feature.
I love it for enhancing real drum samples. You can add so much more punch, body, whatever you feel will make each sample better.
Maybe it's because I'm not a drummer, but I've been down the route of looking for the most realistic multi-sampled drums but after awhile never really felt it was worth the trouble.
