Asking for random features is like putting Legos together by carefully hewing to the instructions every step of the way. Learn to use the toys you buy, for my sake at least, so I can stop complaining about this on here. It is more rewarding than hitting a button 11, 3, or 57 times trying to find inspiration. Just because the apps are cheap does not mean that it’s simple, or that there is no value in exploring them.

You’re like a one-man anti random zealot. I don’t recall many others on the forum going around telling others how to “properly” create music. And further, your assumption that someone tapping a random button doesn’t also understand how to manually coax new sounds out of a deep app is flawed.

Not a flawed assumption at all. App has just been released (or maybe not even out yet) = immediate cries for a dice button. Why is that?

Just gotta trust the gut on this one

Mainly because the presets are limited, i love this app, but if you want to build up several kits quickly that’s one good way to do it. I just felt like, for me, a random button was the only thing it was really missing. It’s an amazing app, but a Rando button adds so many possibilities and benefits, that will ultimately make it a better app, and hopefully translate to more sales for the developer.

FAC really needs to add more presets. I’m sure there are plenty of people here who could engineer him a couple dozen.

  • A Patchstorage would be nice, if Fred agrees to let us.

The way I see it, the rando button is an elegant display from the confident dev of the full range of possibilities in his algorithm and app design. Not necessarily for all users, especially if one has a narrow vision of the creative process/agency

    Well said.

Yea I’m open to creating anything in any way, or at least trying it.

Really don’t want to drag this super off topic but your assumption is flawed. I’m sure you get that the synthesis in Drumkit isn’t super advanced but rather selectively simplified by design, it’s not hard to grasp. Suggesting that someone who requests a randomise feature is just neglecting to learn the app isn’t just a wrong assumption, it’s just ignorant. Have you ever used sample and hold in a synth? What’s the difference between a randomise button and just modulating every parameter in a synth with sample and hold, fed with a selection of noise? (Ignoring the fact that most developers specifically design a random button to be a very controlled random) Is that somehow not a valid way to make noises in your opinion? 🧐

There’s a very obvious benefit in something like a randomise feature but like you touched on, that doesn’t mean that it should be implemented at all, for a million different reasons that can easily get overlooked. And I do get the push back on endless feature requests but I think that somewhat gets chalked up to the nature of forums. So yeah, as WE were saying… Drumkit is sick. Fast workflow, flexible without being overwhelming and most importantly sounds damn good. Buy on sight! 👍

Look we can all still totally get along; it’s just one of those things that irks me, and it’s always requested immediately if not already implemented, so it’s blown up into this entire tired meme thing in my mind.

Now, I will not get into discussing the logic of my assumptions; that again is something that is entirely in my mind and not worth turning into lawyer nerds (or worse, philosophy nerds) over. That is not suggesting I’m taking some high road here, but rather acknowledging that I can be a fussy kook and there’s nothing to be gained by arguing that.

I had a couple of retorts but I didn't like any of them ... wish there was a randomise option for replies, I'm sure it could come up with something great after a few attempts ...

    Great. Looking forward to it.

  • Nice features, maybe you could add other names in the next update. Jason is fine and everything but what about Maryanne for example?

I know, but for some reason it was there, then it disappeared, on my screen. Then I shared it and it didn’t show up either. It’s something on my end I’m sure. Look below.

Fred’s post isn’t in the shot but his looks just like mine on my iPad. Not sure why… Basically my mistake. Lol

Can anyone load a samples folder from Audioshare? For me it’s greyed out, yet doing the same in Drambo it’s not.

It's not the same. I don't have FAC Drumkit yet but I know the difference between those 2 dialogs.

After you select the folder, Drambo will import samples from that folder into its internal storage. Want to add more samples? - need to repeat the import process

Unlike Drambo, FAC Drumkit does not import anything - after you grant it access to a folder, it will seamlessly work with the files in that folder even if they are stored in another app's container. This feature is called Open in Place.
I really like this feature, no need to keep track of multiple copies. It's the future. The problem is only a few apps support it, though it was introduced like 4 years ago.

Didn’t know this!. Why isn’t everyone doing it?

Huh, I didn’t know this either.

  • ⚠️ Very important: Backup your user presets before updating to FAC Drumkit 1.2 (In 1.1 user samples are not gathered to an export folder, only in 1.2)

Here a detailed overview (The import section is only valid when you are on a clean install).

  • @FredAntonCorvest Any estimate when 1.2 drops? Monday?

  • The update is out now. Neat.

Getting this message mind trying to load multiple files? Is it a iOS files app problem?

    Where are the files stored?
Directly in a folder 'On my iPad' or in 'AudioShare'?

@Samu all sorted now if you open in standalone mode check al, the loading options are there then try as a AU and it worked.
