  • @cem_olcay is it possible to record notes that stretch across the loop end/start points? meaning, notes that were started before the loop end point and kept being held after the loop wrapped back around to the beginning.

Yeah I've submitted the app, probably will hit the store on Monday :)

How many bars long can a single loop be?
I like the idea of using two-instances then copying from one to the other for track building. That's an intuitive workflow.

It's unlimited! You can add as many bars as you want. Also there are some AUv3 presets for 1/4/8/16/32/64 bar templates.
But I recommend working with small bars (4/8/16) and multiple patterns. It's up to you though.

    Cool!
That means I could set up one instance with a short number of bars for working on a complex piano piece.

Each time I get a part played perfectly... I can copy it, and paste onto the end of a second instance set to a long number of bars as I build up my "track".

I like the way the "New" mode clears the loop when you re-play a part.

  • Looks really cool @cem_olcay excited for Monday

ChordBud into LoopBud equals instant Chords.

    Works great inside Drambo also.

  • One of the Best parts about the Bud apps to me are using them together in different combinations

  • It's up on the App store in the US.
Very good for building creative patterns/ key progressions. Lots of fun. :)

    @cem_olcay
I've got what looks to be a bug on my Gen 5 iPad - iPadOS 13.7

    To reproduce:
Load single instance of LoopBud in AUM.
    Open LoopBud.
Tap + to add 2nd Pattern.
With Pattern 2 highlighted, Tap hamburger menu (Presets) and change Bar length to any number.
App crashes on my iPad every time.

Please confirm so I'll know it's not just my iPad.

BTW... I CAN change the bar count on the 2nd Pattern using the "Add Bar +" without a crash.

Preset menu works fine on Pattern 1.

Love the App. I Like that I can save the patterns I create in the AUM User Preset menu.
(But "for me" trying to load a User Preset into Pattern 2 also results in a crash).

  • Does loop bud record/playback ccs and multichannel input?

  • Oh wow it has approved so fast, I was expecting it on Monday. The website is not ready yet 😂

@horsetrainer thanks for the report, I’ll work on that!
@espiegel123 no, only notes and velocity. I’ll consider adding MPE support in the future. After I learn how MPE works :)

Just record and playback everything that comes in. Since bud isn’t an editor, you won’t have the issues to deal with editors. You don’t need to know anything about MPE. Just play back the MIDI that came in and you will be doing MPE. Photon doesn’t “know” about MPE but handles it fine because it catches all the MIDI including channel info and plays it back without modification. The other MIDI AUs don’t play well with MPE because they either de-channelize the input or don’t record cc’s.

  • yes, when selecting 4 bars, the actual timeline jumps high in number> @horsetrainer said:

That's what I told him! I badly want mpe on this and it would be ridiculously easy. @cem_olcay please add mpe ASAP! 😂

  • Is there a trick to get the record button ‘on’ before the host play button.. or is it me?

Can anyone confirm the crash I reported upthread please. I want to know if it's only on iOS 13.7.
(Crash occurs when trying to use presets to change bar length on pattern 2, 3, 4..etc..
Crashes (for me) in AUM, Audiobus 3, and Cubasis 2).

    @cem_olcay
The LoopBud composing principle is Brilliant!

But I am not able to get certain features to work...

    1) If I press and hold "Pattern 1"... I get the "Copy/Paste" menu.... But the only Pasting I'm able to do, is to duplicate the copied pattern, to another pattern in the same instance.

If I try to copy to a pattern into a 2nd instance, nothing is written to track.

I was hoping there would be a way to copy selected bars to the end of a track... But no luck.

EDIT: After reboot. Copy/Paste of Patterns between instances is now working! :)

    2) After attempting to copy and paste, including trying to copy from one selected bar to another selected bar. The App gets stuck on 3 or 4-bar tracks, and I am not able to change back to a one bar track. But I can add more bars.

IMO.. What I think would make this App rock...
Add a Pattern play function that allows all Patterns to play sequentially, first to last, then loop back to the first and play them all again.

With Pattern play. Songs could be composed one pattern at a time all in the same instance. If a part repeats it can be copy-pasted from an earlier Pattern into a later Pattern.

  • I enjoyed playing with the beta. Instant buy now it’s in the store.

@cem_olcay I hope you can open up the play / record / mode parameters at least inside AUM at some point please.

Also MPE input would be the icing on the cake.

Many thanks for this little gem.

Please record all MIDI as is, pw, aftertouch, cc’s, with channel info, no filtering and it would be perfect 👌

Just one thing, in Cubasis I need to start the sequencer to enable recording, not a big deal but it would be nice that LoopBud would be ready to record when transport starts.

    @cem_olcay
Same here, 13.7 iPad Pro 10,5”

Long press on BARS for copy/paste does nothing. Also how to remove bars on patterns?? Only see the add bar option...

  • edited February 2021

@Synthi can you try tapping and focusing a bar first, and then try long-pressing? BTW they need unfocused before long-pressing. So tap once and focus, tap again and unfocus  (I want to understand if it’s a bug)

I’ll work on the next update soon:

    • the bug on new patterns
    • being able to arm record before transport start
    • exposing play/record/clear/undo buttons as AU parameters

First few things to do. In the long run I’ll work on the MIDI CC recording and MPE/multi-channel support.

@cem_olcay tried focusing/unfocusing and it works, but long press can’t work no matter if the bar is on focus or not

After iPad Re-Boot. Opening new AUM Session....
I can now Copy a Pattern from one instance of LoopBud into another. :)

However. I am Not able to Copy and Paste individual Bars by tapping and focusing a bar first, and then long-pressing.

Do you think you will be adding a Pattern play option (A Song mode)?

Bars should unfocused in order to long-press work.
You can use StepBud's MIDI CC sequencing for creating a song-mode!
You can also use the same approach for sequencing ChordBud/ArpBud/RhythmBud and even StepBud's patterns.

  • Great job @cem_olcay! Very easy to use, productive, and fun 🤩

Yes. Have tried unfocused and focused long-press on Bar Header. No copy/paste menu.
@Gavinski mentioned it also not working for him, in his new LoopBud Demo video thread.
    I'm on iOS 13.7. Should Bar Copy/Paste work on 13.7 ?

Thanks for StepBud's MIDI CC info to enable song mode. Will check that out next.

Great App! Looking forward to all features working for me. :)

For me. Bar Copy/Paste only works in Standalone App, not in the AU.

  • A little Mozaic script for random patterns/scenes every x to y bars (or beats)

Select pads to set which patterns to use on random
Knob1 Play a pattern at least x bars
Knob2 Play the pattern no more than y bars
    Knob 3 Shows previous pattern
    Knob 4 Shows current pattern

  • I love the simplicity of this app, so easy to lay down ideas.

It would be absolutely amazing if each instance could have multiple tracks that each send out to their own MIDI out, so you could operate multiple instruments within one instance.

To build up a track as is would require multiple instances of loopbud . Gets confusing when you want to arrange a song and change patterns. I would def pay for an IAP to have multi track in this thing as it is by far the quickest way to lay out a riff

  • It would be cool to be able to assign CC to each pattern, so they could each be triggered to record a performance...
