I'd like to see a pattern quantize option. When enabled, pattern switches would occur at the end of the pattern rather than immediately.

This plus recording of all midi input (even if it's not displayed ... notes are enough) would make it the ideal no-frills midi looper for me.

    Hey wim,
    IIRC, you're still running iOS 13.7 ??

Are you able to get the BAR Copy/Paste function to work in the LoopBud AU?

I'm afraid to update to iOS14 because all my Apps run perfect on 13.7.

    Thanks. :)

    Nope.

I don't think there's any reason fear apps breaking on 14 other than the disappearing AU thing. On the other hand there is no reason I can think of to update to iOS14 until they fix that. That's all I'm waiting for. No sign of a fix coming so far though.

  • Yes. Have tried unfocused and focused long-press on Bar Header. No copy/paste menu.
@Gavinski mentioned it also not working for him, in his new LoopBud Demo video thread.
    I'm on iOS 13.7. Should Bar Copy/Paste work on 13.7 ?

Same here, no copy/paste menu focused or unfocused... 13.7 too

This is an AU vs Standalone bug. I'm sure it has nothing to do with iOS version. I'm sure he'll fix it.

Very nice app, really works like a midi looper. The « new mode » is very nice, I also like patterns and bar looping.

@cem_olcay please can you add a « - bar » button to delete bar faster than holding/delete it (or perhaps hold + bar enable/toggle - bar) ? Using preset is the way to go for now.

+1 for CC recording and parameters exposition. Could be interesting to control everything by midi notes and not only CC, being able to use a midi sequence to control patterns should be a nice way of doing things and more easy to edit on any piano roll than CC.

Thanks wim. Hope the Dev will be able to provide a fix for 13.7.

Yeah, this recording concept is pretty cool. I feel like I should be able to use it to write really complex parts that I could never play by hand. If I can figure out how to use Stepbud to run Loopbud in a pattern playing song mode.

Wish there was a simple AU Midi file player.

  • When would one use this vs Atomv1?

    Multiple pattern selectable via MIDI.

This is the way LoopBud is functioning for me....

LoopBud has a mode that clears the track if a new note is played at the beginning, or anywhere in a next loop cycle. This allows the user the make multiple attempts to get a part played "just right".

Once the Record button is turned off and then on again, the user can play additional parts to the same track using the same erase methodology. However, after the Record button is turned off and then on again, LoopBud will not clear the notes entered in the first "session", only the new notes of the second session.

This allows the user to build up the notes played in the track one session at a time. It's a very fast way to piece together a complex segment of music by building it up one session at a time.

I could probably lay down several bars of a complex piece of classical music without too much effort if I knew all the notes to it.

That's a nice observation, I hadn't experimented with whether using 'new' and record functioned differently on subsequent passes.

This does urgently need to record all ccs going into it, yes. That is something that I will sorely feel the lack of if it isn't added.

  • Experimenting with classical in LoopBud. :)

  • Pretty amazing app... and it’s only Ver 1.

Thanks.. off to the videos to learn more.. 😎

  • I like it so much so far.

Is there a way to make automatically play LoopBud sessions when loading a previous saved AUM session

I tried but I had to arm every LoopBud manually before hitting AUM play button.

  • This is a brilliant app, so simple, but really quick to get results.
I have a request for Cem, if he is kindly accepting requests and this is best served with a picture.
I hope the above image is clear, it would be great to have a manually selectable area that could be dragged with a finger simular to the selection area in Riffer. Hope Cem can understand this and I think that if this was implemented it would be the icing on the cake.

  • I've submitted the new version update already! It would probably release in the next 24hrs.

    The new version

    • Adds play/record/undo/clear buttons as AU parameters.
    • Adds the ability to long-press the "Add Bar" button where you may specify the bar count.
    • Adds the ability to arm the record button in AU while transport is not moving.
    • Fixes a crash happening on AU preset loading if a project has multiple patterns.
  • Delightful little gadget ... utterly unexpected results (mainly because I'm still not exactly sure what's happening) ... just exploring ... but very interesting cross feeding with Midi-dreams over a long sequence... gets a mind of its own with very subtle shifts and mutations. Looking forward to the upgrades ... lots of potential and possibilities... destined to be a classic.

    Hello sir,
Is there a way to assign separate CC to each pattern button? The only I can do right now is trigger all the patterns with the same Launchpad button.

I'm sure you can do it with a simple Mozaic script, like converting a Launchpad MIDI (note on?) button to a specific MIDI CC (like CC#10 with a value of 1, for selecting the first pattern, assuming you're using the default CC#10 for the pattern change command).

I don't know if there are any other MIDI filter/transformer kinda AUv3 apps out there but, that's the first thing I can think of :)

    StreamByter also.

  • Really cool app!

    Suggestions:
If it were possible to trigger patterns by Midi note, one could use a launchpad.
Make the piano roll stretchable if one uses f.i. only 2 octaves between lowest and highest key.

Was the issue in the AU with the Bar Copy/Paste function not working, fixed for iPadOS 13.7 ?

LoopBud will probably end up being my second most used App after Drambo.

I remember that I had way too many troubles with that UIMenu thing on iOS 13 AUv3 apps.
I think it's working fine on iOS 14 AUv3 hosts, but still has some troubles on iOS 13 AUv3 hosts.
However, the new update fixes the bar-count setting problem with the ability to long-pressing to the "add bar" button.

    (UIMenuController is that mf btw)

This is way too much cool btw 😍

  • Will this ever have multi track per instance?
    Love the simplicity

  • @cem_olcay I noticed on the LoopBud page you mentioned: “ Also, you can create unlimited number of patterns and change them with MIDI CC messages!” I still haven’t figured how to change the pattern with MIDI CC messages. When assign a control to 10 the pattern doesn’t change.

    @cem_olcay

I researched the UIMenuController as best I could as a non-programer.
One of the documents I read referred to Menu location.

When I compared the Menu Locations in LoopBud AudioUnit to the StandAlone App, I noticed a difference.
    (See Image Below)

The Pattern Copy/Paste Menu works in both the AU and the StandAlone, but the Height where the Menu appears is much higher in the AU.

It occurred to me that if there is a Height parameter for UIMenuController, and if the Menu height was set too high for the Bar Copy/Paste Menu in the AU... Perhaps that could account for why the Bar Menu can't appear in the AU running in 13.7 ?

Thanks for your like on my Classical Experiment. :)
It would have taken a long time for me to try to create that in another App.

I got pattern changes working using StepBud as a CC controller. (They did get out of sync for me in AUM requiring tapping the AUM transport return to re-sync).

Pattern change in LoopBud defaults to CC #10.

    CC's transmit a range of values 0-127.

LoopBud uses the value of the CC message to change the parameters.

    Value 1 = Pattern 1
    Value 2 = Pattern 2
    Value 3 = Pattern 3
    etc....

    Hope that helps. :)
