@blueveek having great fun this afternoon playing with the new multi-channel mode. I have found myself wanting to reassign the channel of some of the bass notes I have written for a keyboard part so that they play on a different instrument/channel but I cannot see a way of changing the channel of a note short of rewriting it. Unless I have missed it and it already exists then would you please consider adding a “channel modify” note processing option at some point? Thanks.
Edit: just thought I can probably copy/delete/paste the relevant notes to the other channel, I’ll try that.
Edit2: yes, that works. I noticed that the selected notes do not disappear when I hide the channel, not sure if that is by design.
@blueveek thank you for the empty pattern control!!! You’re like Santa 🎅
Simply retrigger the clip. The pattern switching and playhead positioning are decoupled, so you can use the clip launching settings for the latter.
It is! If I want to move notes to another channel, I usually pick the channel first, instead of doing a "cut" first.
Thanks for explaining what you need it for
So is it now possible to have a single row of atoms then a column of pads on a launchpad triggering the patterns within the corresponding atom instance?
(Hope that makes sense to someone!!)
I picked a good day to get a launchpad
@blueveek Atom2 is really shaping up to be something else. Really great work 👊🏼™️
@vasilymilovidov Thanks for the screenshots. I was scratching my head at first. Quick question. Is there a way to have different colors for the individual Channels in the single view, or do all channels share one color and you use the Channel Filter control to keep things organized.
I think Atom2 should be a part of everyone’s essential set of tools.
Good idea: color options for different channels!
@echoopera
Just select the built-in MIDI Channel Colors sylesheet (or make your own version of the CSS file and install it by drag&dropping it onto Atom from a hovering files app)
Tip: to have a unique color per channel, read the tips in the release notes. (bah, who am I kidding, I don’t read ‘em either).
Use the "MIDI Channel Colors" theme
Who has time to read. I just Update and Open. Hahaha. Thanks for the feedback. This is stellar. Thanks so much of thinking of everything and sharing this Genius with us. 👊🏼💕
We’re entering the Atomic2 Age with Drambo now 🌞
@blueveek I just want to sincerely thank you for the Single instance MultiChannel capability of Atom2. It’s going to be such a huge workflow enhancement for all of us who have enjoy using Atom2. Great work 👊🏼™️💕
Genius!!!
Here’s a super quick overview of how i will be integrating it within Drambo. And yes, i am placing it on the Main Channel 😜
This is officially the best workflow for an iPhone!
Super organized set up, nice and tight with sequencing several apps in one atom2 instance, i added a second instance just for drums, drambo fits really good on my iPhone 12 pro max.
This makes iPhone music making great again LOL .
I usually just tinker on the phone and do the heavy stuff on my iPad but this literally changes it all and Makes phone work way less frustrating and more enjoyable.
My phone is alive!
And def will transfer well to the iPad.
Imagine if you could load aum into drambo LOL that would be insane
I’m not having any luck with this in either the beta or the production release.
I think it worked once, the very first time, but I’ve not been able to get it to work since. Am I misunderstanding how this should work? I expected the paste to happen on the new channel.
(Said without expectation!) Does anyone know if this has been implemented yet? i.e in step input, the chords from an external app like Tonality come in as chords, rather than arpeggiated?
Wondering if I've overlooked a clever long press type function or something?
Either way, really enjoying the progress of this outstanding app - really needs a 'tip jar' type function (E.g like Piano motifs) - so we can at least keep this chap's supply of coffee and snacks well topped up!
One thing to look out for is whether you are editing multiple channels or a single channel. I would lock all channels to start with then unlock the one I’m working on. If there is a single channel number without a plus in the top left then you should be good to go. Here is how I can copy a single note between channels:
I see how that could be considered confusing. It's not an "unknown" channel, the notes are on channel 1. However, the tiny label inside the note is not displayed, since channel 1 is the default and I thought it was redundant. The labels inside the notes are just helper visual guides when working with multiple channels within the same view. You can easily verify this by showing/hiding, locking/unlocking or muting/unmuting channel 1.
It does. However, when you're long pressing the "Add" button, you're picking the default channel for manual note entry, not for other operations. Just tap on the channel button in the top left and pick your targeted channels there.
All of this might be a little confusing at first, but it's necessary, given the fact that multiple channels can be edited at the same time. There needs to be a way of showing multiple channels at the same time, and also a way of picking a single note entry channel for manual input.
To copy-paste between channels, all you need to do is
1. Make a selection
2. Copy
3. Pick another channel from the top-left
4. Paste
Not yet, but you're not the only one requesting it!
Thanks for showing that.
@blueveek I'm having trouble recording now the notes show up but disapear any ideas

You're most likely recording into a channel that you've hidden.
Click on the channel button in the top left and show it.
Yeah, I worked this out. I'm getting there getting confused with all the new midi and a new LP
What I am trying to do is set the LP notes to ch1 and use mozaic to send midi through onto the correct track channel.
Looks like this kind of works but seems to give unpredictable results when recording leaving small slices and inconsistent note length for chords
Without this, it seems necessary to change the LP notes ch manually for each track? Or am I missing something?
Thanks
@blueveek when I copy and paste notes at the play head I don’t hear them on playback and I’m using channel colors so it looks like when I pasted the notes the channel changed. What am I doing wrong?
It sounds like you pasted the notes onto a channel that is either not enabled, or not being routed into another intrument/plugin.
Open the midi channel controls and check you are in filter mode, and have the neccessary channels enabled. You may find it easier just to enable all and show all channels
note this section in the latest release notes..
Sounds like you've copied notes on one channel, and expected them to paste on the same channel, but you were working on (targeting) a different channel.
Pasting pastes on the targeted channel, shown in the top left.
To paste preserving channel, long press "Paste at playhead" or "Paste at start".
Whenever you paste, there's a notification shown at the top saying onto which channel you've pasted.
This makes sense, thank you both!
Hmmmm. Yes weird I just tried this and the chords come in arpeggiated. Are we missing some tick or long press to stop this from happening?
I believe this is the only option for chords in Step Input right now. I would imagine this feature will be updated soon.
@blueveek minor feature request: is there a way or can you create a option in the Move controls that allows us to move the play head without any notes selected for precision control? I’m thinking about pasting notes in specific places.
Oh by the way: I love the Blank Pattern control. It has elevated my workflow tremendously! I can just keep on creating patterns/takes. I’m using a Launchpad Mini and Launchkey 37 with a sustain pedal to trigger Blank Patterns.
Do you know you can tap on the ruler to place the playhead? It'll be quantized to grid.
