  • Doh, I did forget 2 to get to the 9. Also. TAL Uno LX and OBxd. LOL.

  • edited March 2021

    Aum
    Gauss
    Atom 2
    Polyphase
    Swam Brass & GeoSwam
    Drum computer
    Ravenscroft
    Mixbox
    Rozeta Suite

  • At the moment:
    1. NS2 with MultiTrack Recorder - Arranging. Smoothest interface, reliable and great clip linking.
    2. MTS Studio - writing MIDI using score/multi-midi mode and editing audio
    3. StaffPad - creating anything requiring realistic sounding instruments.
    4. GarageBand - mainly for the “follow” drum mode + my gbextractor script to get the notes out.
    5. AudioLayer - for multi-layered guitar/drum samples. I could also sample all my synths :)
    6. THU - Distortion
    7. MIDI Guitar 2 - Alternative to onscreen keyboard
    8. Loopy/Quantiloop - still trying to work out which I prefer for recording guitar
    9. Auditor - MTS does most of the audio editing that I need but Auditor is a great toolbox to have for those niche functions

AudioShare is normally on the list but I could get by with just the Files app if necessary. FabFilters are a nice to have. MixBox would be nice but I could live with the onboard DAW effects as there are loads between NS2 and MTS.

  • At the moment i dont see why i need more than

    Beatmaker
    Model 15
    Synthmaster one
    Blackhole

    This can change tommorow 😂

Have to say model 15 is just fire. The best sound i heard on ios. Can do everything and sounds amazing on everything . Chords, pads, percussion. I even use it for HH.

Is it as heavy on CPU as Model D?

    Yes, quite heavy.
my ipad mini 5thgen runs 5-6 of them. Also With blackhole and one synthmaster one. Thats quite enough.

  • For most used in no order:
    AUM
    Auria(with all IAPs)
    Gadget(with all IAPs)
    MDE stereo
Morphit(I live in an apartment so monitors are a no go)
    Drambo
    Turnado
    Rozeta
And a toss up between Pure Acid and Groove Rider but Pure Acid probably takes the edge cos aciiiiid

There’s a bunch more I love but I still use a lot of hardware that can take it’s place like the Moog stuff

It’ll probably fry my iPhone, but it will probably sound amazing while doing it.

LOL, what? I can run 1 instance of Model D or Model 15 -- sometimes with other stuff on an iPad Pro 2016 9.7. Getting closer to upgrade time I guess. :naughty:

  • There is no way to do this for me. Audioshare, Aum, Fugue Machine and a ridiculous amount of effects like Wow and Dedalus and Effectrix are excluded from my list. But if it was JUST music making apps, this would be my desert island app list...

    1. Samplr. Always and forever.

Without any order in between - but if I choose nine apps... Hmmm... Super hard...

    1. Synthmaster One, perhaps the best sound quality you get on iPad/iPhone! Awesome!
    2. Drambo - a masterpiece!
    3. Atom 2 Piano Roll - worldclass coding + addictive!
    4. AUM - the first thing you install on any iPad!
    5. Kleverb - AUv3 reverb, light on CPU, sounds great!
    6. Drumjam - freakin’ addictive, from a great developer!
    7. Gadget 2 - Korg can make apps!
    8. Grooverider GR16 - just great!
    9. Swam Trumpet - the whole series of Swam sounds fabulous!!

The list can contain at least 20 more apps that I started every four day cycle!!

  • AUM
    Pure Acid
    Glitch Core
    Turnado
    Gadget 2
    Koala
    Looperator
    Bass 808
    Drum Computer

  • Honestly my plan when I bought BeatStep Pro was to only make music with Drambo. Force myself to dig deeper into synthesis, use samples when needed, and build modules. How liberating would it be to just live in Drambo with my Beatstep??? I would become a Drambo guru. 😂

That sounds absolutely brilliant to me! I’ve long considered the BSP for Drambo use too. Haven’t settled on the perfect controller yet though..

  • I quit counting apps and started playing guitar a lot more again. It's been very healthy and good for me after 3-4 years consumed by the irrational iOS buying and trying everything obsession. It was educational, so I can't say it wasn't worth it, just that I got distracted by it far past the point of dimensional returns. Kinda like cigarettes.

I think I did this a year or so ago but plenty of great apps have come out since then and I’m sure we have a bunch of new forum members.

If you could only have 9 music creation apps, what would they be and why? I say 9 because I like to keep my iPhone slim so I stick to one page of one folder.

    Mine:
    1. Cubasis 3 - My favorite DAW, works well for transitioning from iPhone to iPad
    2. BLEASS Alpha - My favorite synth. Versatile, easy to sound flashy, and an excellent UI.
    3. Lagrange - Second favorite synth, especially for strings and complex sounds.
    4. Bass 808 - Only 808 bass synth I know of on iOS, perfect for beatmaking.
    5. EG Pulse - One of the few AUv3 sample drum machines that isn’t based on a single machine.
    6. Flip - Fun little sampler/sequencer with some solid features.
    7. Pure Acid - Favorite groovebox. Very fun, easy to pick up and make something cool that you can expand on later.
    8. Endlesss - The most fun music app I’ve found. It’s great for when I want to create music without feeling like I have to be productive and create something “good”.
    9. Mononoke - Relaxing and meditative

  • For the iPhone:

    1. Cubasis 3 (with built in Waves IAP’s of course)
    2. SynthMaster One
    3. 808 Bass Synth by AudioKit
    4. GeoShred Pro
    5. Zeeon
    6. Koalafx
    7. Toneboosters Morphit
    8. BeatHawk (great for sample-based drum production. It acts as a sampler, drum machine, sequencer, and piano-roll. Basically a mini-daw inside of my DAW.)
    9. Splice ios app (for finding samples to bring inside of BeatHawk)

If I had to produce, record, mix, and master a song given these 9 apps along with the stock effects & IAP’s that come inside of Cubasis, I would feel pretty confident in my ability to get a professional grade track.

Oh thank ! You still have 20 second as option for each sample ? For arcade ir was your setting with Fl Studio ! By the way I did this method but I decided to setup with 8 bars instead of 20 seconds, so Bm3 can detect each sample with method 1 you explain .

Thanks to tell me what is your setting with Fl for Omnisphere ! I’m looking for a long time to have omnisphere sound in bm3

I apparently can’t count. I made this list,

    SunVox
    FLSM
    MTS
    BM3
    Phonem
    Mersenne
    Laplace

and woke up this morning bummed I couldn’t add any more of my beloved synths

So I made changes to my initial list

    SunVox
    FLSM
    MTS/AuriaPro (not fair I know)
    BM3
    Phonem
    Mersenne
    Animoog

And brought it up to 9ish (DAW waffling see abovej

    AddStation
    Synthmaster

Came back to this thought experiment because I’m setting up a new Air, and have had to rethink every single app in the process of looking at/moving over tens of thousands of files and hundreds of apps. I really want to try something like this for reals. Don’t think I could really do it because Brambos, all of Sugarbytes, the rest of Virsyn IceGear PPG, and Imaginado. And Drambo. And iMPC Pro 2. And AB3, AUM, (and all the lovely interstitial items that would then propagate).

I have moved 132 synths onto the new device, goddamnit. and for this attempt at a list of 9 I’m not even going into my folder of drum and groovebox stuff or my FX folder (Fabfilter! Eventide! Klevgrand! FAC!) You get the idea. This is a thought experiment pointing me in a much needed direction, but it’ll probably not get down to 9.
