    Help... I sent the developer an email, it’s probably full. Dam I’ve been waiting on these, and really wanted to try some strings out, if anyone sees the form is back up on the site, please let me know, thanks.

    Dam I’m pissed. Can someone please confirm that the form is down. Site is fine, I see no form.

    https://audiomodeling.com/beta-program/strings-ios-beta/ I can still access this

    The link works but there’s nothing but text. Do you still see the form it speaks of?

    I’m on this beta as well. I might be wrong, but it seems like they accelerated the beta testing for iOS SWAM strings. I was under the impression they had no announced date or timeline for iPad release, only desktop. So far I like what I’m hearing and I’ll definitely be buying the Violin and Cello.

    I would imagine this beta will be shorter than the brass one since they used that Beta cycle to figure out a lot of iOS framework issues like preset handling and stuff.

    You are probably right about that abbreviated timeline.

    I do love the iOS SWAM Trumpet and Sax apps I got for iPad, however there is still no obvious way for these instruments to utilize MPE function with the built-in GarageBand keyboard (unless there is something I’ve overlooked... and I have turned on the GB MPE setting in the Settings). And I have great difficulty trying to play any of the SWAM instruments using their own keyboard, as it is not resizable. I have a feeling the developer only expects musicians to use an external keyboard, but that is not always the case. I’ve been using the built-in GB keyboard almost exclusively for nearly 10 years at this point.

    Buy Velocity Keyboard app.. Its awesome for playing such SWAM MPE instruments. Other alternative is Geoshred..

    I do have GeoShred, so that is a possibility. GeoShred has no velocity sensitivity, which prevents me from making it my first choice. So I might have to give Velocity Keyboard a shot.

    You don’t need velocity for a string sound. GS will work better than Velocity KB for these patches due to finger expression.

    My experience with Velocity Keyboard is much better with these SWAM instruments. Almost no stuck notes. Geoshred gives stuck notes many times especially when playing fast with glides. Also velocity keyboard is much cheaper than GS. Considering all these factors I recommended velocity keyboard also. Yes velocity sensitivity not needed for SWAM, it can be used for Piano very well which I had hard time playing with Geoshred.

    Yes, they really need to solve the stuck notes problem, which I think they will. I prefer Velocity kb for piano too. I wish I could combine the best features of both apps into a single app.

  • I jumped on my iPhone just to place the request and it worked. the form was there but on my iPad it will not show up. I don’t know why? maybe something with the ad blocker i use but it’s not an ad , and I turned it off l, so I’m not sure what happened? But I found a workaround, lol. Thanks @BCKeys i just had a minor meltdown, lol.

    @ErrkaPetti, is it me or does that sound terrible? I’ve experienced same with my exploration so far eith viola and violin.

    Hi!

    Can’t judge that for the moment, but, my reply concering NDA was my mission here...

    Everybody here, have you read the rules of the betatesting participation?

    But, I’ll be back to let you know my first thoughts about Swam Solo Strings... Downloaded this late at evening here in Sweden...
    I really like the Brass-series!

  • What instruments are in this? I never got my link, guess cause I didn’t want their promo spam.

    @oat_phipps
    4 links in my email although the email said up to 5 - Cello, violin, viola, double bass, they are so freaking sick and sound great. A little latency issue on the cello, but dam are they cool. The bow, or pluck, with midi learn, those expression options sound amazing, bow pressure, vibrato, mono with 1 string, or Poly with 2strings, the harmonics, bow play position, etc... just wow!

  • edited March 2021

    On initial playing of the violin it sounds great, as long as you don't hold a vibrato note for too long. Something in the vibrato sounds a bit unnatural on the stock settings to me.

    Thx. Just installed. Like the bowing pad. Just got this strange behaviour hitting higher part of the notes using in AUM not making any sound when they work as standalone. Also using geoshred as a controllar got me some missing notes if I press higher part of the pads.
    We need a midi mp3 recorder now😂

    Have you really read the rules for Betatesting Swam Solo Strings?

    ” TERMS and CONDITIONS

    Cancelled. I thought that here we could help swam, fixing bugs, but if you think that is a violation of nda I don’t want to argue😂 I was expecting a message like this😂😂😂

    @LinearLineman I agree, sounds bad.

    @LinearLineman I agree, sounds terrible.

    The pitchbend can be turned off. The x-axis pitchbend makes it tricky to play in tune.

  • @espiegel123, how does one turn off pitchbend?

  • Had to Restart to get AU’s to show up, but that’s nothing new. Really fun using Pure Acid Bass Out Midi sequencer to play Swam Double Bass.

    Most likely just covering there bases. I don’t know much about these situations but Since it’s a beta, Would it be null and void once the apps are released? Or does it say anything about that especially in terms of the Audio...?

    But these are monophonic instruments and for that Geoshred is an excellent choice. Use the right hand to play the Geoshred keyboard and left hand to use the expression pad on top left, that will be how you control velocity and other aspects of expression.

    Ah, pity to hear about stuck notes, you found that worked better with VK? I have had stuck notes with both, stuck notes seems a very common and annoying problem with mpe tech

    Yes I do also wish I could get one app having the best of both.. I wrote an email also to @moForte mentioning the "best features" of velocity KB Hope they will improve on velocity and stuck notes.. Anyways I played these SWAM instruments with Vel-KB and did not face a single issue. Geoshred experience was not so smooth... So I have decided to play in-built GeoSWAM instruments with Geoshred, these stand-alone SWAM instruments with Vel-KB and piano and other non-MPE synth type instruments with Vel-KB. So far this has worked for me the best..

  • To my old ears Swamm instruments on Geoshread are better implemented then in SWAMM apps itself. Have all swamm products on mac and I enjoyed them but this suits of intruments for IPAD (strings)me, as now, is barely uplayable. I can not record any decent sounds out of it using nor roli keyboard,nor velocity keyboard or onboard dedicated keyboard.

    I will continue using them on mac, recording sending audio stems to Ipad to use in AUM.

  • I filled out the form the other day when it went up but never received any email, anyone else that didn’t receive one (wondering if the queue just filled up really fast)?

  • @Charlesalbert, strange that the Brass sound fine.

  • Got the email this morning after resending in the form. Showed up under promotions in Google mail.

    I didn’t get it until I refilled the form and allowed email notifications from them, fwiw

    @espiegel123, how does one turn off pitchbend?

    Tap Pitch on the main screen. Then set the pitch bend range to 0.

    I’d recommend writing to them via the test flight app and mentioning that you find the way pitch bend is handled makes it hard to play in tune. They will need to hear from people to know that it needs some work to be usable.
